  1. Little known Lincoln County is doing Phantom of the Opera! Overture, Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, Masquerade, and Music of the Night.
  2. Well, I'm not saying all, but there were one or two who didn't really seem to care. Now, things may have changed once they got to the locker room, but on the field, they didn't appear to be moved.
  3. I'm probably about to get myself in trouble for saying this, but I think the following must be said. PLease read carefully before blowing up and pitching a fit about what I say. Make certain that you understand where I'm coming from. I think that some of you should get a little less P.O.ed about FlyingFalconMom's posts. She has made some good points; I have to say, I did NOT agree with them all, but most made sense. Besides, she doesn't seem to be getting too angry with those who chew her up one side and down the other for saying something that wasn't liked. I think such a problem can be resolved if her posts are read more carefully, and you realize where she stands with her son playing for LC and all. I don't think she means harm or means to bash. Everyone has their own opinions. If you can have yours, she can have hers. Now, on to L.C. football. I've noticed that most football players do respect Coach T, and that is a good thing. I've also noticed that there seems to be a lack of spirit in the some of the departing seniors. I saw one after the came who didn't seem to care that he and his team had just lost. I 'm not on the team and didn't have a thing to do with the loss, and I felt like crying. I wanted so badly for them to move on. Even on Monday at school, this one was just as happy as can be. I realize that it had been three days, but still. Most people would still be rather depressed. So, my question is, is there just a lack of caring and passion, or was it something unseen to the viewer?
  4. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Fine! I give up! I withdraw SOME of my statements. Band members still have it pretty rough, but I've decided we are on a much higher level than football players. Though, I'm sure you'll argue that too.I'm sick of such ignorance on this topic. The only true arguments that have made any sense on here are those by Lc68 and SCHSBisonPride. The rest just don't bother me. And the truth does hurt...sometimes. Frankly, none of the above hurt me. I don't know about the rest of you. I've learned to take this. You tend to when you are picked on your entire life. Lcband10- See you Sunday at the parade. I shall find out who you are. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I still think you should all respect the band more than you do. No, I've heard the argument; I do not consider band a sport any longer. It's its own league...above football. And Lc68...I must thank you for such worthy arguments and using correct grammer and spelling. It's nice to see that you still have band geek in you. All the football players I've spoken to cannot do that for some reason. Whether it be they would rather use the shortened words and abbreviations for things or they just can't spell or write. Thank you, again. To everyone else: My opinion is known; now, I am departing to other threads to find conversations I can make known more of the things I have witnessed. Au revoir and bon chance. Merry Christmas. Oh, and...who in the world came up with "stinkfaced". That makes no sense at all.
  5. I must address you're last comment first. It's funny. The only way they're going to see a real football team in Lincoln County is if they go back several years. Back when they were pretty good and had respect throughout. Unless a time machine is invented rather quickly, that's not going happen. Apparently you haven't seen LC's team the last couple of years. It's a miracle they won region this year but as long as they have the attitudes most have now..the not caring and what-not...Lincoln County won't have another REAL football team for a while to come. The truth hurts! On to the actual band stuff- Could you honestly say such things to your own school's band? Could you go to one of the band's practices and tell all of us what you've said above in person? Now, I could say "Grow some, suckit up, and give the band respect!" but I'm not going to. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The band doesn't claim football isn't a sport and we give the team respect; therefore, you should give us respect, and stop saying that marching band isn't a sport. After all, if chess, golf, and eating hot dogs are sports, then band is too. Good day/night, Merry Christmas, and Go Falcons!
  6. I'm for Smyrna! I want to say the state champs put my team out second round! Go Bulldogs!
  7. To me, marching band is a sport. Of course, I'm a band member and I have done two years of marching band. You have to be pretty tough at my school to stand band camp. It isn't just trudging around on a field with instruments in your hands. I don't know about other schools, but our band puts in just as much time as the football team. Heck, we even consider our football team lucky. They get cool grass to practice on...we have hot asphalt for ten hours a day (during camp). Yes, we compete. HOWEVER...a football team, after making a mistake, can always do something to counter that mistake. They get another shot at it. In band, you get one shot...one run...if you mess up..there's no fixing it and the judges will deduct points like mad. Getting hurt? Oh yes! We had a guard member fall and break her ankle. We've had a guard girl get a minor concussion because she got hit with a flag during a set where they moved really close together. When flanking, if you don't do it right, you're gonna hurt yourself. It does take some athleticism to march. If you're outta shape, marching in the summer in thick uniforms, playing for ten minutes straight will wear you out. And, if you wanna talk worse injury and toughness...my old band director marched for Alabama. She got hit in the back of the head by a trombone player, knocked her front teeth out, and had to keep playing with blood running down her face and uniform. Football teams-they get a locker room. Bands-we get the shade trees. Football team-nice bottle of gatorade. Band-little measly cup of water. Football team-uniforms that don't absorb heat(unless they're black). Bands-uniforms absorb heat. Football team-one game against one team...four hours tops...with breaks and at night. Band-one competition again up to twenty other bands...up to twelve hours...breaks...but during the day and outside on bleachers. Football team-plays to memorize. Band-usually a hundred plus drill sets to memorize plus music. The band does a lot more than most people think. Yah, we are musicians and yah, we are considered performing arts. You might say, "The football team lifts weights." Well, the band carries around instruments and holds them up for up to fifteen mintutes straight during a performance and then sometimes, longer during practice. So...you can say it isn't a sport...that's your opinion and I don't give a rip. but I say it's a sport and should be given more respect than it is. We take a lot of crap too. So don't say we've got it easy..at least not in Lincoln County. Our band toughs it out..rain or shine...thunder and lightening...cold and snow. You go pick up a sousaphone or baritone and march two or three miles in a parade playing in the cold with uniforms that freeze you and thin gloves and tell me it doesn't take as much as strength and agility as a football player. If you sau it doesn't, you're doing something wrong. There you go. Have a nice day and Merry Christmas. And before I forget...football players should take it easy on band members. Look at band members stats. Most are more successful than football players.
  8. Within the fans, yes; there isn't much pride anymore. When was the lsat time the "Pit" was full. You can always find a place to sit now. At one point, that was impossible unless you got there an hour in advance...so I'm told and so I've seen in videos. I can't remember many games that I've been to that were jam packed. Perhaps the Riverdale game of '03 in regular season...but otherwise, I don't recall any other game. I dunno that our QB shouldn't be playing. I have to say, I think he was our best option. He's come through when we needed him to before...not everytime, but not even Peyton Manning can pull that off. And it isn't always the quarterback's fault. Sure, he gets blamed for it, but sometimes it's the snapper or perhaps the reciever. I've never played football, but I realize there is alot of pressure on the guys. I don't know the extent of it, but I'm certain it's tough. I think there should be some sophomores playing...not all of them, but some. There are some that came from NGA last year that I think should get a little game time. Some got a taste of the game during the Cumberland Co. game, but that was it. I've been to every game this year and I've noticed that some of the outstanding players on the team have not gotten the oppertunity to show their stuff. I've seen glimmers of extreme capibility from some but that's it. They don't get the ball enough to really shine. As far as winning Region goes, I'm proud. That hasn't been done since 2003 and before that it was 1993. HOWEVER, I saw inappropriate behavior afterwards. I saw one Falcon go into Coffee County's endzone and do doughnuts with his feet, laughing. I feel that is highly unsportsman-like. I understand that it was exciting, but have some class and save it for the locker room or the bus ride home. I know that Coffee County was rude too, but just because one team is, doesn't give you permission to be the same. I've seen improvement in the fans. They actually clap when the band plays Rocky Top as the team runs through the L. Now, if only they'd start singing along too. I really hope some of the FALCON PRIDE returns next year. Come on, people! Don't be a fair-weather fan. Support them through thick and thin. GET LOUD! I want to get goosebumps as the band plays and the fans sing our fight song. Go Falcons! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. I have to agree. Things aren't they way they used to be. It's so boring now at "The Pit". No one gets into it. I can remember the LC vs. Riverdale game in 2003 when the entire home side chanted "Defense" as the Warriors tried to get into the endzone. I had no voice after that, and it was amazing to hear so many loyal fans cheering their team on. How often do you here rhythmic chanting now? Rarely...and it's usually only from the cheerleaders. Heck... alot of the band members don't even get into the game. Most are only worried about going home and whine when we win. After the Smyrna game, some of them were cheering for Smyrna...during the game too. If you don't think "The Pit" is dead. just look at the lines to the concession stands. In past years, it took all of halftime to get to the front. Now...only a five minute wait. No big deal. AND-with them coming on and off in little packs...a few years ago, I could sit and count them without any time in between each guy. It was just 1-50...no down time. As far as the team goes, they lack discipline...BIG TIME! I have some classes with the players and they lack respect for everyone: teachers, staff, their peers. I don't know if all of them do it, but I do know for a fact several do. And with trash talk- whatever happened to take care of it on the field. Actions speak louder than words. The way you play the game will have a better effect than how you run your mouth to the other team. I find it quite pitiful when the band has more discipline that the footbal team. "The Pit" isn't "The Pit" I remember from even a few years ago. If coach T ever hopes to get another State Championship, he needs to stop gettin them boys outta trouble when they get in to it. Let them suffer the consequences of their actions and they'll learn. And if they don't learn...bench them or kick them off the team. That's all I've got to say.
  10. I'd say Tullahoma's got a lot of people beat. I loved their show. They did a Medieval theme this year. They deal with a lot of props, adding a bit more color to the show. They really captivate their audiences. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> I would root for my own band (Lincoln County) but Tullahoma is far better than we are and we are well aware. In the third smallest division (however you wanna say it) I'd say we're near the top. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> And I agree..half time is so game time. "The football team is the band's opening act."
