    You traitor!

No I will be in Waverly to watch Sycamore and Creekwood.

    You traitor!

Soory, thought you were New Blue for a second... ask him on another post if he was going to our game. didn't have my glasses on.

  2. With college basketball most players on a team were the best player on their respective high school teams. The collection of talent and level of play is greatly elevated.

Also, college coaches keep or lose their jobs on how well they recruit....something this isn't "supposed" to happen in high school basketball......................................................................

    .................................

    PB,

If I come back in 3 montrhs will this post still be going? Certainetly generated some enthusiasim didn't it.

  3. I've not seen Eagleville play but.....they have played Community 3 time this yr (looking at Schedules here on CoachT) and each regular season game. Eagleville was dominate. They won the first two game by 19 points and the district tourney by 21 pts. So they obviously have some talent. Eagleville lost to Cascade twice though, and Cascade just barely beat Houston County and Heritage beat Houston Co earlier this yr..... Maybe Eagleville has some kind of mental hold over Community.....ha.idunno. I say any one can be defeated in a big tournament game/who wants it more... Play hard Patriots.

    Slummer, are you going tonight?

  4. you have spoken well about those who don't know Twilley, should not judge intentions... please, don't you violate your own encouragement to not judge, by your judging the intentions of the other coaches..

the officials usually control the tempo of the game.... they either let it get out of control by not calling the game close or they call a close game and try to control the tempo.

it matters not what the LC player was doing, Twilley reacted on his own accord... he is responsible for his actions, just like the LC player is responsible for his actions... no one made him throw his elbow, just like no one made the LC player reach around Twilley.

again, apply your own logic to this, and let it stand for what it is, whatever happens now is up to the powers that be.

i suggest that TSSAA intiate an evaluation system for the officials, in which they are evaluated at three or more games at the first of the year, and random evaluations throughout the remainder of the season. then the officials have to be accountable for their actions. as far as i know, the officials in TSSAA are the only ones who are accountable to NO ONE in life. That needs to change to ensure that they stay on top of their game.

The TSSAA can barely get enough ref's to field all games and you want to put them on a evaluation? They stink, plain and simple. But, be happy with what you got or your going to get some yocal from the home town officiating your away games. Then you would see riots. Try coming to a single A game. Make those triple A guys look like they belong in the NBA!

  5. I have a degree and have a great job and family,no sour grapes about HC.I am just very passionate.I could go on and on about different points all day long.I just want the best for the kids from HC,maybe this is not the best way to go about it,but what other forum with people of like opinions

is there.I would bet that if you polled most HC fans that they would agree with me but they have no choice but to live with it.

Grendal, are you going to the 9-A, 10-A match up's tonight?

  6. I have no clue what schools you are talking about, but you sound like a parent whose son didn't get to play as much as you thought they should.

Shut your pie hole or get a degree and apply for the job. If that man has 34 years of coaching he can retire. When he does why dont you get the job and see how you can do with "all of that talent"

Hey, why don't you "shut your pie hole" or as the great Mike Ditka once said "get your mouth shut. Now, go back to the den and get some manners. Sinner!

  7. What have I been wrong about besides Grainger bragging on McBee air balling free throws? HAHAHA....

You guys sure are mean on this site! Please don't punish me LORD VADER. (E-G-O)??? Please tell me you are not of drinking age LORD. OHHH OHHH the dark side has me.... help help....Lord Vador is thinking me to death...Just kidding, LORD...

  8. So, again, I pose the question. As a spectator what would you rather see? A slow down game with the chance of a blowout or a game that is over before its begun? It'll be one or the other and either way it won't be that exciting for a random spectator.

Unless, of course, you're a fan of the better squad and you're REALLY going for your team /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Either way, something should be done so they just can't stand there with the ball endlessly. It's not fair, entertaining and does not promote good manners. After all, it's about teaching the little boys and girls life lessons isn't it? Now everyone go brush your teeth, hug your parents or children and go to bed! School or work day tomorrow.

  9. I agree with and share your opinion on the jump ball rule. As a matter of fact, I believe that should be changed at the NCAA level as well.

Now, here's my thing on the shot clock. Number one, a shot clock has nothing to do with quality of the game or for the experience of players and coaches. It's all about spectators experience. Secondly, the burden here is on the defense. You don't want someone to hold the ball then come out and guard. Finally, if you're a coaching a team that is down by 10 and you don't challenge then you're an idiot and deserve to lose the game anyway. Most often these are games where you see someone holding the ball in order to stall are games in which one team is much weaker or less athletic then their opponent and they're attempting to keep the score and flow of the game low and slow in attempt to even the odds. So here are our options: Keep things as they are and hope it's not a rout or put in a shot clock and assure yourself seeing of a rout. Either way, you're not going to witness a " good game ". There are instances of coaches stalling the ball in a bit of " chest thumping" contest with a rival coach or in order to protest a bad official but most often the above scenario is the norm.

All that aside here is my biggest issue with a shot clock. The responsibility of those charged with keeping it. Think about the scoreboard operator for a moment for example. This will be a bit long-winded but I'm going some where with it. When you're keeping the scoreboard you have a lot on your plate. Some scoreboards keep up with individual player numbers, points, and fouls ( and if you do that then my hat is off to you ) but most just keep the score and team fouls. You make sure subs get in if refs don't notice and keep time on time-outs but at the end of the day the scoreboard operator has one key mandate. Keep the game time correctly. Even the score on that board is not what ultimately matters. The score in the official score book is. So, when doing this job you must pay attention and not get caught up in the game. You must at all times be listening for the whistle. You need someone one that can be trusted not to be fan or a homer but ,in fact, an official. I'm sure you've been to games where the clock operator wasn't paying attention for one reason or another, be a tight game or not. It's a problem and source of controversy but one we have to deal with because, well, we can't live without the clock....... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Now, with the shot clock. You have pay as much attention to the actual game. The difference is that timekeepers are not required to make judgment calls. A shot clock operator does. I speak from experience having done so in Division-II men's and women's games. Now, it's not always so complex. Many times, a shot taken clearly hits the rim and , boom, reset the shot clock. Ok, but let's assume it's on the far side of the goal from where you sit. Did it hot the rim or not? You have to make the call. On a lose ball, did a team have possession and warrant a fresh shot clock or not ? Situations like these are more common than you'd like to think. In the end, the officials themselves can always correct you but that's just one more thing for them to worry about. It's just another potential source of controversy and game interruption which is ironic sense the key argument for the shot clock is to make the game more " fan friendly ". Bottom line, I don't trust John Q. to do that job correctly and it isn't something we just have to include. The game can go on without it.

This is all aside from the fact that you'd have to pay the extra person and pay to have the clock installed. ( which would cost well over $1,000 per school or gym). What happens when it malfunctions? ( aside from the cost to fix it ) In the NCAA, such cases are resolved by the shot clock time being kept at the score's table on a stopwatch and the final 10 seconds are announced over the PA. Well, not every school has PA announcer either.

I know this is long and drawn out but I just wanted to be thorough. It's more trouble than it's worth at this level.

Wow! I had to take a nap halfway through your post. lol You make a lot of sense though. I forgot about the HUMAN ELEMENT.

Especially in single A. Isn't that where all the ref's start out? We have lost a couple games this year to the HUMAN ELEMENT. If you know what I mean...

  10. Congrats to a well coached, young White House Heritage team. Not only have you guys made history this year by advancing in the region, but you have surpassed what many thought was impossible for you. Keep working hard over the next couple of days as you prepare for your next game. Win or lose you have made your school and district 10A proud.

    Would your initials be JH?

  11. yes we need a shot clock and yes we need to change the jump ball and i think that the 3 point line needs to be sanded up. if there was no 3 point line then there would be a lot more d-fence played games were a lot better when there was no 3 point line.

Whoa! whoa! whoa!, If there was not a three point line I don't think we would of won tonight. We hit two of them back to back to pull within two. I understand your point though. I say take it back a foot and you would not have so many. Coach's would not aloow as much.

  12. IMO, I believe high school basketball needs a 30 second shot clock. Would make the games more exciting than they already are and help the kids for the next level. Whats your opinion???

I totally agree. To sit out there on top and hold the ball is just infuriating and just plain poor sportmanship. I go to watch basketball and I pay to watch it and expect to be entertained. Watching some dolt sitting on a 10 point lead and holding the ball is not my idea of a good game. And even worse is the coach on the other side saying fine, if they just want to hold it? we will not challenge. Stupiest thing I ever saw. Do away with the jump ball rule while your at it. If it's going to be called a jump ball, then jump it! Some of these ref's call it a millasecond into the wrap up. Not that you ask me but, just my 2 cents...

  13. I believe the loss that Clarksville Academy had in the District tournament was the best thing that ever happened to them. HC has unleashed a lion and I would not want to be in its path. Very possibly the Regional Champion Lion.

10 A wins 3 in the first round.

ncs will do better next year.

    Good Luck to all .

    Injury free play.

Quit slumming on sites you don't belong. now get back over to 10-A

    HC BY 5

    CA BY 10

    EAGLEVILLE BY 20

    WHH BY 2

Man, nice calls, cept the HC. but 3 out of 4 is impressive with some of the points spot on! Are you a handicapper Grendal? Not taking any action (betting) with you.

  14. Ok Scrapman, its up to yall and CA to kick some 9A butt. Go get em lol

I will to my best to fire mine up, but he usually tell's me to go away cause he is trying to get ready for a game. lol.

Kids? can't beat em, can't eat em. Unless you tender em up with a little A-1 sauced.

    Wheres New Blue???

  15. HC got their butts beat. Came out flat in the first half, down by 13 at halftime, came out gunning in the 3rd quarter, caught up, passed them by 2, coaches, for some reason, subbed in more boys, then bam bam, HC goes down by 11. got beat by 5. Their big boys stood flat footed and let Cascades shooter go over them. Ah well, it was a good season. Grats to CA and WHH, I hope yall go far, play hard boys and make 10A proud.

Tough brake, HC guys had a great season and brought the district back home. Nothing to hand thier heads about.

  16. Well, we have at least two representatives in the region semifinals so far in White House-Heritage and Clarksville Academy. I wonder how Houston County did?

Oh my God! Thought I was going to have a heart attack. We trailed pretty much all game, as much by eleven at one point. The boys hung tough, dropped back to back three's to get withinin two in the fourth with 5 min. left. Big prop's to Community, they played well and I am sure it was a tough pill to swallow. They beat us twice this year but you know what they say about beating a team three in a row? They won three in a row to win thier district but we proved to much in the long run! Very fun game to watch. Now we get to drive to Eagleville and hopefully drive on them, all night long. Can't take these close ones, great fun!!!

  17. I was impressed with both of your big guys, are they both freshman? How does your PG have 22 points one night and 2 against HC.Your son is a great player and I have enjoyed watching him play.Does he have any offers or is going to try to play college ball?

BIG BOYS ARE SOPH I THINK? FUNDEMENTALS... ONE NIGHT HE DRIVES, DRIVES DRIVES. MAKES SOME, DRAWS THE FOULS AND MAKES SOME OF THOSE. NEXT NIGHT, HE DIDN'T? THANKS FOR THE PROPS ON ROSS. HE IS EVEN A BETTER SON THAN A HOOPSTER. WE HAVE BEEN BLEESED AND CONSIDER OURSELVES VERY LUCKY IN THESE DAYS. NOT A LOT OF SCHOOLS CALLING. DONT GET A LOT OF EXPOSURE IN A B-BALL. THINKING ABOUT A JR. CO. AND ONLY 11 HOURS AT THAT. SO IF HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY HE COULD GO ON FOR 4 YEARS? GOING TO MEET W/ COACH AFTER SEASON AND LOOK AT OPTIONS.

BIG GAME TONIGHT IF THEY DONT CANCEL. SUPPOSE TO GET 2" AND IT IS ALREADY STARTING TO SPIT A LITTLE UP HEAR ON THE RIDGE. WE ARE 500' ABOVE NASHVILLE. BE SUPRISED WHAT A DIFFERENCE THAT MAKES. GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND THANKS FOR PUTTING UP W/ MT CRABBY OLD AS* ALL SEASON. GOD BLESS! GO 10-A!!!

  18. There you are Scrapman, I was getting worried about you, no posts since the HC game. Your boys played hard, heck of a game.

MADE THE MISTAKE OF SENDING MY COMPUTER TO IT DEPT. GEEZ, I GO AWAY FOR A WEEK AND WE DROP TO PAGE THREE.

  19. I told you we would bring it. Great game both teams

Ummm Scrapman??? yall gonna have to settle for a all WHH 2ond this year.

Considering EVERYONE picked us 6th or 7th at best I think we did very good. When I said in the begining of the year that we would be up there contending everyong thought I was just bias. Were still in the regions. Home this Friday. Only lost to them by one last time. Also they have beat us two in a row so just like Houston Co. we have the odds on are side. very hard to beat a close team three in a row. Congrat's to HC they played a great game. I think if we would of went alittle bigger in the end it would of been closer. Ref's didn't help much either? but as my friend New Blue says "So is life"

  20. WELL, WELL, WELL. LOOK WHOSE PLAYING FOR THE TITLE TOMORROW NIGHT. NOT JUST THE BOYS (WHO YOU ALL PICKED TO COME IN 6TH OR 7TH, BUT THE GIRLS TOO! AND WHERE IS MIGHTY CA BOYS? PLAYING FOR THIRD. FUNNY HOW THING WORK OUT. I THINK WERE GOING TO SEE AN ALL WHH DIVISION BOYS AND GIRLS TITLE COME TO WHITE HOUSE. PETRONE HONED THOSE BOYS UP TO TWO GAMES BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS AND THEN LET THEM LOOSE ON THE BIG PRESS. AND THE WHOLE TEAM MANNED UP. GREAT GAMES. BOYS AND GIRLS. NOW BRING IT!
