  1. man on 1st time of pitch. he got 2nd, 3rd and home. game over
  2. Smyrna/Stewarts Creek. Bottom of 14th inn. Man on 1st. Ground ball to infield, overthrown ball to 1st goes into dugout. Umpire gives man on first, home, ballgame over. Explanation?
  3. "Why is it none of the old rivals play CPA?" FRA was probably the best rival early on. CPA played at old dilapidated Bellevue High School. And FRA would come over and beat the crap out of CPA. We didn't like them and they didn't respect us - in any sports. FRA went to DIV 2 after CPA became competitive in most sports. Ezell was a great rivalry too. Great girls softball, football and basketball teams and they would just put it on us especially in softball and girls basketball - no contest. They are now DIV 2. DCA was a good rival too - great games against them. Goodpasture put in on us in most, if not all, sports too. Best rivalry was football with Goodpasture. Goodpasture downgraded to Single A - I think. Lipscomb would not play CPA in the early years - not sure why. Then when they did have to play, due to being in the same district - great games in football, basketball and volleyball. Lipscomb and CPA in TSSAA's wisdom put us in different districts.
  4. "If" a level playing field is that all teams are equal, I like my chances with Coach Maddox. As far as "the next crop of 8th graders"? Head down to Rutherford County and see all the transferring/moving/maneuvering that goes on to get to the public high school of choice for athletic purposes.
  5. Kid's mom asks "who is a good coach/program" that her son could play for in high school. She is given Drew Maddox's name. Parents have the means and willing to move. They initiate/come visit with CPA. They like it and move to Tennessee. If they don't like it they move on to the next option/school.
  6. The same way some BA players who transferred from BA to CPA several years back.
  7. Couldn't a public school opt to play in the private school division? Just wondering....
  8. TSSAA will not allow a basketball team to go independent. Football drives it all as far as what level you play at. The players are going to continue to go where they want too. Public, private, magnet, open zone/enrollment, whatever. I can understand why nobody would want to play CPA in any division in basketball. Not so sure about all the other sports.
  9. But they are allowing 2 schools to have girls wrasslin' teams
  10. Talent wins most of the time. The talent "finds" ways to get to great coaches. I have asked a state winning coach who has been to the state tourney multiple times, but has not in probably the past 5-8 yrs and is still coaching. He said "you have to have talent because you can do more". And let me re-iterate, the players, public and private, will find the good/great coaches more than not.
  11. Those "stories" are true. Within the rules - yes. Happens in public and private. Public ex: Said player/Senior and family moved "maybe" 10 miles from prior address to play for diff school/zone. The player's dad is the football coach at the school they are moving from and he remained the head football coach at prior school. Player played at school with better basketball team. They went undefeated and won the state. Player just played that 1 year and scholarship to Div I school. Family moved back to original home the next year. Happened in Tenn. about 4-5 yrs ago. Within the rules - yes. Is it fair? It's the rules. I will agree that beating the crap out of someone can come back and bite you. I have seen that also, where pretty good teams have beat some teams worse than CPA did and then get a very tough draw in the state and lost their 1st game. Oh and if you "really" want to see some "movement" go to Rutherford County and the "movement" amongst the publics - within the rules of course. You play the games by the rules and you form your team by the rules.
  12. That is my point - which is ur point - you were happy with the prior coaches and would not have posted if they had stayed and won at the percentage that they were winning which would go with or justify the mission statement.... interesting
  13. Got it. So if CPA had the same prior coaches and won at that percentage that would satisfy - for you - the main purpose of doing missionary work in the community and winning and losing is secondary?
  14. Yo hedahe - can you define "win little" versus "win big" as you stated, please.
