  1. have you looked at what resilite and dollamur have on clearance? https://www.resilite.com/products/33-7-x-35-classic-mat-stck-015424-mat-3 they have some light weight options as well. I don't think any of their light weight mats have the practice circles currently.
  2. Middle TN Ref association tried to do this a couple years back. TSSAA would not allow it to be a straight up dual team of each division so kids would have had to be sprinkled in randomly on each team but you would still get to see the individual matchups. We were going to have a +3or 5 weight allowance but ultimately we could not get guys to commit. Now you have the D2 guys going to the Preps the week of D1 state, they will not want to wrestle another weekend after that in a All-Star dual. We purchased singlets, coaches shirts and everything but ultimately it fell flat on its face. Location was going to be at Oakland high. (central to everyone in the state.) Sounds good on message boards but too many logistical issues to overcome.
  3. The NWCA would like to congratulate Tony DeAngelo of Lakeway Christian Academy for winning the Boys Head Coach of the year. The Cleveland High school Coaching staff is the assistant staff of the year. Assistant Coaches for Cleveland High are John Weiss, Jacob Murphy, Landon Reed, And Wilson Benefield. Great job to all Coaches this year. I know it was a difficult year and all coaches should be celebrated for making it through this year. If your son or daughter is a wrestler, take a moment to shoot your child's coach a quick email and thank them for all the hard work they put into making this season happen. -Andrew Hedges NWCA TN Chairman
  4. State duals will be held at different venues most likely in high schools in Williamson county. The field for each tournament will be cut in half with a sectional round put in there so that AAA will be an 8 team bracket A/AA 4 teams and so on. Two sites for AAA with four teams one mat and very little if any overlap of teams in the venue. The TSSAA is doing their homework and I guarantee they are working tirelessly to make a dual event and traditional event take place. There will be tournaments unless Gov. Lee shuts schools down again like he did last March. There are still a lot of details that have to be sured up in order for things to be finalized and that is why TSSAA has not put out any information yet. Unfortunately there will probably contact tracing that takes a toll on some teams/individuals in-between the regionals and states. I hope that doesn't come into play but the traditional tournament will be smaller for AAA it will likely be a 16 man bracket. With the top two from each region going. I just hope that all AAA regions wrestle for a true 2nd and that they are able to substitute a state qualifier if a top two finisher was to be quarantined and unable to go to state give the true 3rd place finisher the ability to represent that region at state. Lots of logistical issues that the TSSAA is trying to figure out. I was extremely impressed when listening to Mark Reeves talk about all the work the TSSAA has done in order to ensure we have post season events for wrestling.

  9. You just have to be creative in your scheduling. In my 6 years in Williamson county. I have gotten dual matches with Cleveland, Mt. Juliet, West Wilson, Nashville Catholic, Siegel, Stewarts Creek, Spring Hill, McCallie, Dickson, Blackman, Richview, MBA, FRA, BGA, Harding Academy, and BA. Sometimes things line up right for a particular year and other years they don't. We get 20+ duals in our season and then send our kids into club. We have a handful of kids that just go to club practice and prefer not to compete during the club season. The Wilco season is short 7 weeks this past year from start to finish, however I would rather have it in the late fall then the way Hamilton County does it.... I also prefer our divided season as opposed to what metro does.
  10. Sounds like an exciting event! Who wouldn't want to be given the opportunity to be the undisputed best wrestler in the state at your weight class? This is good for the sport and good for our state. I'm going to make plans on attending.
  11. Everything is correct except for the injury time. It is only 1 1/2 minutes of injury time.

  13. I watched the match on the live stream. Father Ryan should consider having another person do commentary for their matches. The commentator should probably join up and officiate, I know every area is always looking for referees. For a great program like Father Ryan to have their commentator openly berate the officials and even some of the wrestlers is a poor reflection on their program. Stalling is going to occur more in a contested rivalry match like that since kids that are a little outclassed at a weight are being coached to keep the bout to a decision and not to give up bonus points. Who cares about a spectator who has a son that wrestles in college and his opinion, if he feels so strongly about his comment he can join up and officiate as well. You guys are hilarious.
  14. The PF kid applied an illegal back bow to the Red Bank wrestler, the referee immediately called it as such. It was a shame that the Red Bank wrestler could not continue but the referee properly called that situation.
  15. If you spent half the time looking into the rule as you did editing and making that video you would have learned that the referee made the right call.
