  1. I'm not trying to hate on Bearden, but if you have not seen any West TN AAA teams play, how can you say that even if they play like the did against AE they will not loose a game?
  2. These names all sound pretty good, but I would have to agree about Shane Wells. He is a great coach who always seems to do more with less talent.
  3. All of Bearden's players show no class always, especially Simpson and Jenkins. They think they are prima donnas just because they got an offer from a low-end ACC team. If you have seen them play other than last night, they do that stuff every game. Also, if you look at their expressions after they commit a foul they look at the ref like he is crazy. The whole team with the exception of Fennell never shows any class. If they just concentrated on playing the game, they could win state, but I have a feeling when they run into some of those good Memphis teams they might implode.
  4. Wow! One of the best games I have seen in the last 2 or 3 years. Oak Ridge went on a 12-0 run in less than a minute. Oak Ridge's pressure was too much for Bearden to handle. Stephens is so fast, and Dowdell played a really good game on Simpson and Jenkins was almost a non-factor. Would be great if these two teams could meet again. Bearden did not have a good game plan against Oak Ridge's pressure. Again great game and best of luck to both teams. They both should get to the State Tournament.
  5. Dowdell is much better than Jenkins, not to mention that Jenkins worries more about running his mouth and complaining everytime he gets touched. If he concentrated on just playing the game he could be so much better. Bearden will have some trouble with the press, but they should take Maryville's approach and run a zone because they do not have anyone to stick with Stephens or any of Oak Ridge's guards. If Bearden can get it into halfcourt without rushing they can pound it down low to Simpson all day long. But, Maryville has better guard play than Bearden does and they struggled a lot versus the press. Should be a great game, and think that regardless who wins both teams will get to the 'Boro.
  6. Haha thanks. Too bad I didn't pick Oak Ridge or I'd look like a genius. That was one of the better games I had seen this year. Oak Ridge's pressure killed Maryville and they did a good job of taking Damron out of the game. Number 11 for Oak Ridge stepped up huge for Oak Ridge nailing 3 3's in the 4th quarter that put them up for good. Bearden-Farragut was about how I figured. Farragut played well, but Bearden is just a good team. Farragut put a good run together in the 3rd quarter. If they had hit their free throws it might have been a different game. Bearden and Oak Ridge should be a great game. Oak Ridge will be able to pressure Bearden, but if they break the press all they will have to do is throw it up to Simpson. Too close to call.
  7. Well that's good to know about the officials. This is a great night to see some good basketball, it's just a shame that 2 of these teams have to be finished tonight.
  8. Maryville and Oak Ridge is too tough to call. Stephens can shut down Damron as seen earlier, but can Oak Ridge handle the inside play of Maryville? I say 5 point game, not picking a winner. As for Bearden and Farragut I don't know that one either. Farragut had Bearden on the ropes in the district tournament which should help a lot in the confidence department. I'm not going to pick a winner in this one either, but I'm going to say a single digit game. On another note, I hope the officials for these two games are from out of the area. It's always nice to have a crew that hasn't seen of these players play this year and they can call the game unbiasedly.
  9. Looks good, I think that if Bearden and Maryville meet again Bearden might be able to pull it out. Very hard to beat a good team three times.
  10. Farragut wins 65-40. Farragut jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter and the closest it got was 8. The lead was 15 at halftime and Farragut came out pounding it inside where they had the advantage. Binder had to have had at least 20. Farragut knew where they had the advantage and they took advantage.
  11. If Farragut uses their posts then they should be able to pull this one out. Seymore is going to be a hard match-up, but Farragut I think just has the size advantage, but that doesn't always mean a W. Should be a good game.
  12. Im probably going to make some people mad for saying this but in my opinion this is what happens. As far as West Tennessee goes, the teams are usually stronger, and I do not want to take away from East Tennessee basketball because it has gotten better the last few years, but most of the time the teams that are great in the West usually put out the pretty good teams in the West, when in reality the pretty good teams in the West would probably beat some of the teams from the East. But, that's the way the bracket is set up so there is nothing to do about it. This year though I think that Bearden, Maryville, and Oak Ridge could compete with all the teams in the West. Someone mentioned Liberty Tech earlier as being one of the best teams; are they not AA? Or did that change this year?? And as far as Cleveland goes I'll say it again. I saw them this summer, and after looking at their schedule they are not that good, but they keep winning so hard to argue putting them in the top.
  13. No need to mock rebelsfan. I was going off of the basketball that I had seen this year. Maryville beats Bearden twice so yes I would put them number 1 ahead of Oak Ridge. Maryville, Bearden, then Oak Ridge.
  14. This is going to be a real good game. If Maryville wins they more than likely will be the number 1 seed out of the district. Bearden is probably playing the best ball of anyone in the area right now. I'm going to have to say Bearden wins a very close game by no more than 5 points. If it weren't for Tennessee/Kentucky I would be at this game.
