The right fielder can tell the umpire if the kids are getting to rowdy and the umpire can make them leave. Often times they don't say anything you wouldn't hear anywhere else.
  2. I think dead periods are stupid. Maybe you should just confine the dead period to no pitching off of a mound. That way kids can still get instruction on hitting, long toss correctly, and get better. Dead periods are screwing Tennessee high school baseball players.
  3. Not very much at all. Its half a day. About 45-50 college scouts, 5 or 6 pro scouts. Anytime your fielding/throwing/hitting your name and city is on the jumbo-tron.
  4. No composites or two piece bats (i.e Voodoo)
  5. Plaisted and Caldwell will probably split catching duties, Sheffield replaced Casteel at the end when he got hurt and did a pretty good job, Sheffield will also probably play short stop. And if Hess or Roepke make the kind of improvement that Honea did from his Jr to Sr year then they'll be fine with pitchers. Milleville's bat and Morris's glove in the outfield will be a tough replacement. I'm sure some sophomore's will step up though. I guess you'll have to wait till March to find out
  6. and you couldn't hit an unsigned pitcher who topped out at 84. Yes, you had a MUCH better chance at hitting Science Hill's soon to be millionaire or Farragut's prodogy. Didn't your fastest player get a 4 step jump on a stolen base and still have a bang-bang play at second? The game wasn't a fluke, but it could have gone either way. However, play Tullahoma next year, and the year after, and the year after, You'll find yourself getting no-hitted in a 5 inning game to the likes of Sheffield, Hess, Roepke, who will all be gunning high 80's-low 90's.
  7. Columbia owns T-town, the 4th time T-town and Columbia played Tullahoma won... This will be Manchester's and Tullahoma's 4th time playing.... You never know in baseball.
  8. he did this in high school ---> (5 or 6 paragraphs down) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2669791 although he was a few years older and playing at the "Sarasota" or "Farragut" of baseball. But your point still stands that he probably had 10x more care taken to his arm. But if this kid only threw 185 in 3 days he should be fine.
  9. not if he gets the next few days off. In Japan they dont stress a pitch count. Look at Daisuke Matsuska's interviews about it and he'll say how he would throw 150 one day and three days later go 120. And nobody thought a thing about it. Maybe its just an American mental thing
  10. the 87 in the top left is what he topped at in a tournament at the beginning of the season in Mississippi. Came out of the bullpen in the last inning.

  12. Did the umpire miss an obvious strike 3 call the pitch before? Some umpires feel the need to make up calls, we all know that.
  13. District 8 is right. Columbia and Tullahoma. Champ today.
