  1. So it seems that Coach Culbreth scheduled this game in order to satisfy his multiple game suspension, and get him back on the sidelines in time for the Maryville game. This action (just like him refusing to sit out after he was red carded) is more evidence that Coach Culbreth thinks the rules don't apply to him. Pretty much negates all the defense and kind words that Lion101 posted about Coach Culbreth in my OPINION (and everyone is entitled to their own).
  2. So if I am interpreting the rule correctly (and I'm fairly sure that I am), if a player makes a racist comment or insult on the field they should be ejected? I really wish refs enforced this rule because insults of this nature are ignorant and inexcusable. Over the course of this season I have heard far too many (majority of the games this year) racist remarks from not only players, but also from some very prominent coaches. As the adults in the situation, it is the officials' and coaches' responsiblity to swiftly curtail and correct this problem.

Ned did not mention that the 5 seed and the 6 seed (Lenoir City) first have to defeat the 7 (Heritage) and the 8 (William Blount) before moving on to play the 3 and 4 seeds. The 1 and 2 seeds get two byes and advance directly into the semi-finals. The 3 and 4 seeds get one bye and advance directly into the quarterfinals. Just thought this was worth mentioning. Maryville/West should be a great game. A lot will depend on who's in goal for Maryville and how he handles the many balls that West will serve precisely in front of the goal. Maryville will most likely dominate in possession and shots, but they won't have (and won't convert) as many legitimate scoring chances as West will. I'll say West wins 3-2 in a very exciting game.
  4. Well put dins. I thank you on behalf of everyone who reads these boards for typing your argument out so we didn't have to. Besides, this thread is for predictions in a single district, not for needless debating. Quick correction of your post though, I think of an upset as defeating a team. Lenoir City has not defeated Bearden, only tied them the past two seasons. 1. Farragut 2. Maryville 3. Bearden 4. Catholic 5. West 6. Lenoir City 7. William Blount 8. Heritage
  5. Maryville and Lenoir City tied 3-3. Don't have any details, I'm sure Ned will fill us in.
  6. 4AAA hands down this year, last year, and next year (no discussion next year). Farragut, Bearden, Maryville, Knox West, Catholic, Lenoir City, Heritage, and William Blount. As stated, this district will be tough for all sports.
  7. Soccerdevil's post is dead on accurate in my opinion.
  8. I will be very surprised if MTF beats Farragut, but I've only seen Farragut play this year and not the Fire. I'll say Farragut 4-1. I guess we'll see. When is this game?
  9. I'm not saying that Maryville's schedule is tougher than any team that has been mentioned, but it's no cakewalk either. TN High, MUS, CBHS, CAK, Oak Ridge, Farragut, Bearden, Alcoa. According to Eurosport's current rankings that's two ranked private schools, two ranked A/AA schools, and three ranked AAA schools.
  10. I strongly disagree with this statement. One can assume that top-level refs will handle all of these game and from what I've seen, top-level refs are able to keep a game under control and keep it fair. Now for the picks. Farragut over Bearden 4-2 CAK over Catholic 2-1 Oak Ridge over West 3-2
  11. Are complete tournament results posted anywhere? OR did have some great results beating both CBHS and Ft. Mill. That's pretty shady what Science Hill tried to pull. Hillstopper, do you care to elaborate on the "ugly incident" that preceded the switcheroo that happened today?
  12. Why do you say that? Aside from Germantown Houston, I'd say that the teams listed in the top poll would be the top tier teams of the tournament, and the bottom poll represents the second tier teams of the tournament. Not to take anything away from Houston, they are a top tier team, just not this year due to their youth.
  13. It was a red after the game was over and the player was walking to the bus (the refs did not leave in very timely manner as akula alluded to). It was not the keeper, but a defender. Really dumb and classless move. The game was ugly with little possesion being held by either team at any time. A bunch of guys playing individually and trying to beat people on the dribble. A lot of cheap fouls as well as questionable calls. Ref lost control of game early, and then tried to make up for it by throwing several (6 or 7) yellows. Loudon's free kick was a great shot over the wall and into the side net from about 25 yards out.
  14. The "B" field is the field at Katie Hunter.
  15. L.C. had the wind the first half and took advantage of a Bearden team that seemed a little rusty. Where is Bearden practicing? I drive by their field on my way home from work, but I haven't seen anyone on their field the past week. I'm guessing this is due to the condition of their field. Anyway, possession in the first half was 50/50. Second half the game continued to become more and more physical with Bearden controlling and attacking. Bearden scored about ten minutes into the second half. Game was halted fifteen minutes into the second half when L.C.'s sweeper got knocked out. The stop in action probably helped L.C. as they aren't very deep and looked tired. Game resumed with Bearden attacking and play continuing to be chippy. Two hard reds were given due to punches being thrown (but not landed). Game ended 10 on 10. Bearden is not down this year. They will be a contender.
