  1. I watched the game between CAK and Bearden and thought that CAK controlled the game between the eighteens. Possession percentage, I thought was 65% to CAK. They were able to shutdown Bearden long ball catapult attack and gradually buildup a counter attack with simple passes and ball possession. Bearden defensive line tried to shelter their keeper but she had an off night. Overall, very enjoyable game to watch by both teams. Barring any injuries, CAK looks to repeat a state champs. Disclaimer - I don't have a "dog" in the fight. Just an avid soccer fan.
  2. Folks, Here are two links to girls soccer in Knoxville. The first is the top players in the area and the second is the realignment of schools in the district. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2009/aug/2 ... le-on-the/ http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2009/aug/2 ... ification/
  3. I know the game is being televised on the Spanish Network Telemundo starting at 3:30pm. You might catch it at either Soccer Taco or El Mezcal.

  5. Folks, Just a reminder that the jamboree is tomorrow. Parking will be available at all three parking lots - main parking lot,the lot across the street and the lower lot by the US Cellular building. The weather forecasters predict a HOT day in Knoxville, so dress accordingly. The concession stand will be open to provide refreshments and also available will be the 2009 KIL T-shirts. Come out and support your local high school girls soccer teams.
  6. 7. Folks, Someone please help me on this one. If an age group has more than one RPL ( Premiere League) team then according to TSSAA they get an automatic bid at the state tournament in different brackets. I'm cool with that. But my issue is with the way the games are schedule in favor of the premiere teams regardless of whether a division 1 team finished their season on top in division 1. This last state tournament had both premiere teams playing one game on friday evening at 8pm and then on saturday at 5pm. The first place team from D1 had to play at 8pm on friday and then 11am on saturday. My suggestion would be that both first place teams from each division (Premiere and D1) be allowed the better time slots for games otherwise what is the incentive for finishing on top in D1? I sometimes wonder why the Premiere teams in the state tournament have an easier shot at the title every year. All I'm saying is make it "fair". Feedback anyone? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> Thanks for reading Just Franklyspeakin
  8. Folks, Here's the latest from todays games. HFC 93 vs FC Alliance Black 93 tied 0-0 Brentwood Premiere vs KFC 93 Blue tied 1-1 Anyone has details to share about either game?
  9. Folks, Here's the latest info that I have with regard to the Division 1 U16 girls. Tonight KFC Blue beat East Ridge 3-1 in Athens. D1 seeds - Points #1 HFC93 14 #2 KFC Blue 13* #3 MidSouth 13 #4 East Ridge 10 *KFC Blue gets the 2nd seed because of the first criteria of a tiebreaker being winner of head-to-head competition. According to the rules - http://www.tnsoccer.org/Assets/documents/D...vised+Rules.pdf So the brackets for D1 State U16 Girls pans out like this - Bracket A Brentwood Premier KFC Blue MidSouth Bracket B FC Alliance Black HFC 93 East Ridge On Friday 29th May at 8pm Home Team Away Team Brentwood Premier vs KFC Blue FC Alliance Black vs HFC 93 On Saturday 30th May at 11am KFC Blue vs MidSouth HFC 93 vs East Ridge On Saturday 30th May at 5pm Brentwood Premier vs MidSouth FC Alliance Black vs East Ridge Sunday Consolation Game 9am 2nd seeds from each bracket Finals at 11:45am Here's the link to D1 Girls State Championships http://www.gotsport.com/events/?eventid=5205
  10. Update HFC 93 won tonight 4 - 0 against TUSC 93 So the 4 teams heading to state this year from D1 U16 girls are HFC KFC Blue East Ridge MidSouth Plus the 2 Premier teams - Brentwood Premier & FC Alliance Black The seeds are not finalize pending a couple more games KFC Blue vs East Ridge and MidSouth vs HFC ( I think ) HFC should be the #1 seed I feel bad for TUSC 93 because they just played four games in the Brentwood Invitational Tournament this past weekend and won in the silver bracket against East Ridge in the final 1-0 and then have to play a win or go home State League game the very next day. OUCH!!! Congrats TUSC on the tourney win!!! I wished y'all had more time to rest before your game with HFC tonight. Btw, way to bounce back HFC . They needed to get the bad taste of a 5-2 loss to TNFC Blue out of their mouths. Thats all I have for now folks. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  11. MVM- Update Redoubt beat Lady Lobos 2 - 0 recently and TENNESSEE UNITED 93 RED plays HFC 93 Premier tonight. East Ridge 93 Red plays KNOXVILLE FOOTBALL CRUSH 93 BLUE on wednesday in Athens. Looks like TNFC Blue, Lady Lobos and Redoubt season is over. That leaves 5 teams jockeying for 4 spots. I agree with you that this will be close. Stay tune.
  12. Saturday KFC vs TNFC 4-0 Sunday KFC vs Midsouth 1-0 Any other results???
  13. BUtifulGame, I agree with all that you say about soccer in the state of Tennessee and I don't see any changes coming in the near future. I feel sorry for all the players across this state because I've heard all to often the stuff the hinders soccer from being a bigger event as it around the world. We can express our concerns but I bet this time next year someone else with write about the same things that you wrote about. As much as I like to see changes in Tennessee with regard to soccer the less I think it will happen because of some/all the following obstacles- 1- Large geographical area with low population density 2- Player pool isn't strong in the larger cities 3- Club politics "goes on everywhere" 4- Parents " let the coaches coach and just watch the game without becoming actively involve" 5- Football is king There might be other reasons that I've missed but you get my point. If anyone feels up to it, we can take action to gradually change the perception of soccer in the state.
  14. As for player development, we do disagree. Tennesse is years behind in getting high-level coaching in place and in developing support for a club environment that delivers solid basic skills and puts politics aside. Instead, politics inside local clubs and in the ODP program have watered down player development. Tennessee has created an environment where "who you know","how much you give" and "where you are from" are more important actual talent or potential. Until these things change, Tennessee team in elite play will remain easy prey for other states. Amen sir. I do have a question to the powers that be? Can we review and possibly change/modify the current system in TSSAA with regard to playing club year round or moving to the same schedule as other surrounding states. My suggestion would be club players can play club soccer during high school season but not high school soccer. I have read on another forum on this board that this sports is an elite sport which means that money talks. it's all about "who you know". I believe this is true and the "elite teams" are not truly elite with regards to the players on the roster but the parents who get their kids on the roster. I love this game true and true but Tennessee as a state have a long way to go. It would be nice see the teams from around the state both boys and girls get national attention for the quality of players that we develop in state . Thanks for reading I'm off my soapbox Franklyspeakin
  15. Thank you so much for the recap and insight of this game. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> I was waiting until some team finally figured out how to play Bearden and their style of play ( i.e. long volleys out of the back field and fowards running on full speed with a 1 v 1 with the keeper). Let's see if other teams on Bearden schedule uses this strategy of controlling the ball in the middle and playing to feet and probing for the a weakness in the defense. I'm a sucker for ball possession/play to feet/pass to open space/control the game/make it look easy and simple when going all out - That's my kind of soccer ( The Beautiful Game )
