  1. If you go back and look at past state championships you can't argue with the success West TN teams have had. They have won 53 state championships since 1976 (in all 3 classifications - not counting private schools) and Middle and East TN teams have won 23 a piece. There's no doubt that Memphis plays great basketball and always competes for state championships in each division. If you break it down by classification then Middle TN has won the most A championships (Middle 15, West 12, East 6), but West TN has won the most AA (West 24, Middle 3, East 6) and AAA championships (West 17, Middle 5, East 11). It is obvious that West TN produces the best basketball teams historically. Those who want to argue about football, the trends are much different. Since 1969 there have been a total of 182 state championships (152 public - 30 private). Out of those 182 championships Middle TN has won 78, East TN 69, and West TN 37. East TN has won the most public championships (East 67, Middle 63, West 22) while Middle TN has won the most private championships (Middle 15, West 13, East 2). The divisions have changed over the course of time and have gone from 3 classifications to 5 (now 6 beginning next year). Also, 2 (at one point 3) private divisions have been created. Here's the breakdown of state championships by classification in football: A - Middle 18, East 15, West 7 AA - East 21, Middle 13, West 6 AAA - East 18, Middle 15, West 7 AAAA - East 11, Middle 4, West 1 AAAAA - Middle 13, East 2, West 1 IIA - West 7, Middle 5, East 0 IIAA - Middle, 7, West 4, East 1 IIAAA - Middle 3, West 2, East 1 Looking at past records and championships one can see that West TN dominates basketball while Middle and East TN dominates football. Most of you on here already know this but thought I'd give you some numbers to go along with all the arguing...
  2. The Cavs are currently having Spring Practice and are looking forward to the Red & White game in the near future. They have a solid group of players out but it's hard to say on an exact number because many are still involved with other sports at this time. As far as I know the coaching staff isn't changing much from last year and I'm not sure if any new coaches are being brought in or not. Coach Joslin, as everyone knows, has the program in great shape and we're all excited about the upcoming season.
  3. Warrior, I couldn't agree with you more regarding Coach Joslin. Cookeville had 30 something players in the program when he arrived in the late 90's and now they have around 130 or so on the team. They have won Region championships and had very good playoff runs that have included several 2nd and 3rd Round teams. In 2005 they were a play away from moving on to the 4th Round when Riverdale beat them 28-21. This year's team was able to beat Siegel in the 1st Round before losing to the eventual State Champion Oakland in the 2nd Round. He has had a great deal of success since joining the Cavalier program and many coaches who have coached under him now hold down Head Coaching positions around the state, as well as a few other states. He's a great coach but has even greater character, and I'm glad he's running our program instead of someone else's!
  4. You realize that the new Head Coach is not a Coach Russell don't you?
  5. It's good to see a little chatter coming from White Co. There for awhile I didn't think anyone cared about the Warrior football team. Good luck to all the finalists. And last year's score was 35-14, but it was 35-7 at the half. I'm pretty sure it could've been worse.
  6. Any news? Spring practice is getting closer and closer...
  7. It will be tough to repeat, but this team plays a very physical style and wins the close games. I wasn't able to make the 2nd Round game against Cookeville but I've heard all about it and they were able to beat a very good CHS team that night. I've always felt if we could've gotten past Oakland we would've had a shot at the Gold Ball, but the ball just didn't bounce the right way for us that night. Good luck to Oakland in '09 and hopefully if we meet up again the outcome will be a little different!
  8. Congratulations to Taylor Hennigan who has committed to TN Tech after a great career for the Cavs. The article below can also be read on the Herald Citizen webpage. The address is: http://www.herald-citizen.com/index.cfm?ev...7F16EB67551039C COOKEVILLE -- Another Hennigan will be at Tucker Stadium very soon. Taylor Hennigan, a senior at Cookeville High and son of former Tennessee Tech football coach Mike Hennigan, has committed to the Golden Eagles and will play for Watson Brown's program. I edited the page since the whole article was pasted in here. Congratulations to this player.
  9. Congratulations to Coach Partin and CCHS. Hopefully they can get things turned around and win some games (except when they play the Cavs). It's going to be difficult to change the mindset on the mountain but they've won there before and can win there again. Good luck in the future, and good luck to Coach Partin.
  10. Your first statement is the most interesting of all. There's been a lot of turnover coaching wise but all other team's in the region have their coaching staff's in place and are working on getting ready for the '09 season. I'm not sure the Warriors are serious about football considering they've still not hired someone. I guess the streak will continue in '09, '10, '11, and so on, and so on. The Warriors simply can't beat the Cavs, we're just hoping they hire someone that can make the games exciting and competitive!!
  11. Now that the posting has ended what's the word in Warrior Land?
  12. Have heard that one of the finalists is from North Carolina. Any truth to this rumor? Who are the others?
  13. Are there no Warrior fans out there? I thought you guys were serious about your football...hahaha I've heard from several sources that Dickie Brown was in attendance at Tuesday night's basketball game against Siegel. Is DB coming back to White Co.? I've heard he may be looking to leave Clay Co.
  14. I just read in the Sparta Expositor that Josh Kerr has stepped down as head football coach. What are the reasons? Who would want the job? Do they have anyone in mind? As a Cavalier fan I don't think it'll matter much who they get. We should win easily no matter what. I was just curious as to what people are saying in Warrior Land.
  15. This is the One Million Dollar question...
