  1. I'm not going to lie, I didn't see it, but I do think that GoMab does a great job of doing his best in terms of ranking kids and teams.
  2. I played for a good D2-AA school, the D2-AAA teams or the Super 7 would destroy teams like Notre Dame, BCS would probably beat Ryan and that might be it...so I don't know if we could throw them in to D2-AAA knowing they would get killed...as far as 1-A goes... I have played some of those 1A power houses, I have played Ezell and USJ in the four years I played football...USJ beat us like 25-7 and just outplayed us with solid solid players, it wasn't athletes, it was just solid players...that is why I think that coaching in privates is very good for the most part (I'm not saying 1a public school coaches arent good, but I will say in the 4 years I played football, we never lost to one 1A public school EVER and we played probably 4 or 5 a year) Now when I played Ezell They were down right horrible, and had nothing going for them, including coaching...there transformation is due to athletes that they have recruited, I guess what I am saying is...athletically Ezell, CPA, USJ are probably all too good to play in 1A and should move to D2-AA (I think they would beat the majority of the D2-AA schools, but they would lose to the D2-AAA schools badly)...it's kinda sad, if you move those small private schools like lighthouse christian to D2-A they get murdered, if you move Notre Dame and BCS, they will get pretty much destroyed... there is no common ground for them...I am for a split because then maybe there will be less state champions.
  3. Notre Dame would get killed in D2-AAA they were the 5th best team in D2-AA and couldn't compete, especially when Bowman is gone... CBHS doesn't have 1722, they have about 800 boys, I think the 1722 includes like St. Agnes, and IC... The D2-AA looks pretty tough all over, if it was played today I would say Harding and USJ would come out of the west... Ezell and CPA out of the middle In D2-A it would be Byrne and SBEC or Fayette Goodpasture and FRA out of the other bracket, but I don't really know anything about them. And Webb and Boyd out of the east I like it, and I think it would be pretty tough and exciting, and yes Robman, I like it more then the present format.
  4. haha allen is going to be an upcoming junior, james is an upcoming senior...we aren't comparing them...and allen is probably only a top 30 player but was MVP of the state tournament as a 9th grader and Mr. Basketball as a sophomore...he used to have a lot easier time scoring when he was 13 and 14, but he's still a great player.
  5. I'm for a split just because I am sick of hearing people whine about it not being fair...D2 isn't fair...some teams can give more money, Some teams dont give scholarships, the Super 7 beats up on the D2-AA, teams are forced to play a cross state game for no reason what so ever...hey life isn't fair.
  6. One more thing that I forgot to post.. Just1NP you said that a family was stupid for paying for a high school education over a college education... When was it ever written that families were responsible for a college education...that responsibility is for the kids themselves, they can get scholarships, grants, or loans... I have a friend who was told at an early age that his parents were not going to pay for his college, they spent 8K a year to send him to a private school, gave him a car for his birthday, paid for his gas and insurance, but after that he was on his own...that might sound harsh, but thats how life is...fortunately this individual was a great student, an excellent baseball player, and is receiving 41K a year to go to Vanderbilt... I would like the tickets, please email me at [email protected] with your price, thank you. [Edited by TheEgoHasLanded on 6/2/02 12:52P]
  7. Just1NP...I don't think you understand where I live...I live in East Memphis and my parents felt it would not be good for me to attend a public school...some of them are very nice (like germantown or white station) but some of them aren't as great...Public schools in Memphis and Public schools in the rest of the state are quite different, Most schools in Memphis do a poor job of teaching kids, and until last year weren't air conditioned so kids only went to school for half a day...I would have to go to Ridgeway, which is a nice school don't get me wrong, but my brother and I probably wouldn't have made their basketball team and I wouldn't have had the oppurtunity to start on the football team if I went there, many parents send their kids to private schoools for different reasons IN THE CITY OF MEMPHIS! 1-EDUCATION 2-STAY OUT OF TROUBLE 3-RELIGIOUS 4-LOCATION (I live within 2 miles of MUS, BCS, CBHS, and Lausanne, thats another reason kids go there) I don't want to make this a racial thing, But I have been to other schools from East TN, THS, Cosby, and they are alot different from public schools in Memphis.
  8. There are so many misconceptions about Private schools, parents, and kids, its sad...There are alot of parents whose kids go to private schools, yet can barely make ends meet in terms of college...sometimes you guys think its just paradise or something...and NO it is an all public school forum, the way private schools are represented is not very equitable in my opinion.
  9. Memphis Rebles won the championship over the Blackhawks to finish 3-0 in pool play and both teams qualified for the national chamiponships in Florida. I believe the 17u Memphis Lions won the YBOA tournament at the buzzer.
  10. This raises an interesting question... We know that single A public schools like Cosby do not give scholarships, and then people get mad that public schools in D1 are able to get kids from wherever they are from, even without giving financial aide...and people are mad...what about private schools that don't give financial aide but are still in D2...like Knoxville Catholic...or how about schools that give barely any financial aide...st benedict gave 1 for a 1000 dollars, should they be punished and have to play against McCallie and Baylor who give over 500,000 dollars? They are only giving one scholarship? The point is, its never going to be fair, one could argue that a single A school shouldnt have to play another single A school because their facilities aren't as good, or they live in a bigger city, the point is, there is always a variable or an exponent that is going to differentiate between schools and programs, thats what makes it fun and challenging at the same time.
  11. Anyone ever heard of Andre Allen...the guy who is ranked the best player in the country, and the guy who won Mr. Basketball? the guy who was MVP of the state tournament as a freshman, already has a championship ring...does he ring a bell? As well as the other AA powers that are from Memphis...
  12. Irish01...im the defensive end for Harding, thank you for the compliment, me and our qb just read what you wrote, we appreciate it, I have nothing for respect for you and your team, you were one of the lone weapons on your team, you made a few of us look bad, good luck next year.
