  1. Not only did John deserve to make the McDonald's game because of his stat line but also because of his work ethic and character. Im not saying that there aren't kids that don't work as hard or aren't as humble. But he is constantly working on his game and he does not sing his own praises. He is an awesome kid and its ashame that he was left out of the game. Hopefully he can use this as motivation for Vandy and show everybody what they were missing out on. Best of luck to ya John
  2. Who is better? I'll go with John. Corey was good but not as good as John. John single handedly takes games over. Corey wasn't that prolific as a scorer. Corey has gotten himself to the NBA because of his great defense and athelticism. I see everyone questioning John's defense. For those of you who went to the Gallatin game this past Monday you saw him actually get in a stance and guard someone. Every now and then he got matched up with the Hunter kid and shut him down. The only problem was he didn't guard him the whole game. I am really waiting to see how good he is defensively until he gets to Vandy. Because the talent just isn't there in his district for him to really have to lock someone down. When he gets to Vandy against the big competition, thats when you'll see where his all around game is. I wish both the best of luck and hope John can find a way to get his team to Murfreesboro to treat everyone else in the state to the show he puts on.
  3. I have seen a lot of JJ's games this year, but none better than his performance last night against Gallatin. Had he not fouled out in the 2nd OT he may have scored 70. There was nothing that Gallatin could do to stop him. Incredible to see someone score 1,000 pts in a season and 3,000 in his career. I thought SC would make a good run but come up short in the region. But now, I don't see how anyone is going to stop him. He is so determined to get to State, I don't see him NOT getting there. All I know is if he gets to Murfreesboro, he will not disappoint. Congrats to John and everything he has accomplished!!!
  4. I really hate it for JJ that his team is so dependent on him. If he had a consistent second scoring threat. I don't think there would be any question that he would be playing in Murfreesboro at the end of the year. Although, after speaking to him the other day, he is bound and determined to get there. And from what I've seen this season, its going to take a miracle for someone to slow him down. He is a man on a mission. I wish him nothing but the best. He has worked so hard and deserves any and all the success he has.
  5. I see everyone is wondering what JJ's career total is. He is about 300 away from 3000 I believe. Talked to him the other day before they played DCA and he said he needed 350 or 360 to have 1000 for the season and that would put him over 3000 career. He broke 2000 very first game of season. Would have been something if he hadn't got hurt his sophomore season. A joy to watch. Cannot wait to see him in black and gold!!!
  6. After playing against Corey and playing with John as a freshman, I would give the nod to John right now. I say this b/c it is much easier to become a great defender than a great scorer. John has the scoring down obviously, but his defense is still too soft. He can score on anyone at anytime. You could not say that about Corey. I saw Brewer get shut down by Johnny Lee from MLK. He was MAYBE 5'10 and Brewer couldn't do anything. I would have loved to see Corey and John play each other in High School though. WOW, that would've been fun!! Far too early to determine the future career he'll have. I will say this much, IF he will put as much effort this next summer towards defending as he has scoring, LOOK OUT SEC!!! Can't wait to watch him next year.
  7. I would agree that W.H. didn't play a great game the first time around, but neither did SC. They fumbled twice going in, missed a FG and dropped the snap on the P.A.T. Both teams have to play better if they want to advance. Should be a great game, can't wait to see it. SC- 24 W.H.- 17
  8. I think the only thing John worries about when he plays Portland is how many he will score and by what quarter will they pull him. No offense, but Portland hasn't put up much of a fight since Corey Brewer left. If Corey was still there, then John would watch out for the panthers. But Brewer isn't coming back so, Jenkins will rest easy.
  9. Yes, he signed this morning!
  10. I think John has the determination and skill that could eventually lead him to the NBA. Scouts have said he has one of the best shooting strokes in the country. I personally would like to see him go to the basket more. I know he can score from outside, but I wanna see him be a bit more aggressive. I think if he keeps progressing as he is, then Kevin Stallings will be a happy man the next few years.
  11. Thanks. The difference in Dekalb's passing game and Sycamore's passing game is Sycamore also has a run threat. With Dekalb you can pin your ears back and get after them. If you do that against Sycamore they will draw and screen you to death. Should be a good game. Looking forward to it.
  12. Just want to know what you think of his game and how well he will do down the road? Does anyone think he will repeat as AA Mr. Basketball?
  13. SC wont score 50 and wont hold Sycamore scorless. SC's defensive front 7 is very good, but there db's are suspect. If Sycamore has any intelligance they would throw a/b 35 times friday night. On the other hand, I'm not sure that Sycamore can shut down SC's run game. I dont think the bison will play that poorly two weeks in a row. Should be a good, hard fought game. Station Camp- 28 Sycamore- 21
