  1. PC is making way too many mistakes to keep this competitive. Catholic is going to run away with this one unless something drastic changes. Rogers is an exceptional talent and several of those boys on the line for Catholic are looking pretty special too.
  2. Why is catholic not trying to run the ball? About sick of seeing balls up for grabs. Run game looked pretty good. #12 is not scared of contact...
  3. Just like the kids we lured down from Cincinnati several years back . The hard part was finding jobs for their parents, but we worked out a good deal with the University of Tennessee. 😉
  4. I only come out of the woodwork for the big ones nowadays and I have to say, it's a shame this game couldn't be later in the playoffs. Both teams have accomplished so much and it's a shame one's season has to end Friday. I've always had huge respect for the Falcons back since '05 and this matchup has a lot more history than most of the current players really know. I'm going to go with the upset pick, but not because Catholic has better athletes or is anymore "smart." The penalties and turnovers have to stop for either to succeed and I think both coaches are going to be preaching that this week. Catholic is going to have to bring in the perfect game plan with the right adjustments and top-notch execution or their season will be over. This reminds me of the 2006 playoff matchup at Catholic, minus some of the star power (Smith, Franklin, Rogan, Freeney). Catholic was not able to limit the big plays and Fulton was able to adjust to the weaknesses of the Catholic defense after being down by two scores at half. I see Catholic's coach being able to make some of those adjustments as the game progresses. Athlete for athlete, Fulton is clearly superior and deserving of everything they have achieved to this point, but it's playoff football and when these two teams meet, you never know what will happen. Stay warm guys
  5. So let me understand this... JC4life, you are suggesting Jeff Co. schedule harder OOC games so that they are "battle tested?" I am not sure if you remember, but either last year or two years ago, they had (as previously mentioned) Greeneville and Bearden on their OOC schedule and lost both. That year they went 5-5 (I think) and ended up missing the playoffs after a loss to William Blount, Mo West, and Sevier Co. Now it would seem to me that the coaches understood that they have no control over the conference schedule and they can control the out of conference schedule. They missed the playoffs by 1 game. So logic should be clear in selecting weaker opponents to minimize the risk of missing... So by your logic, you are saying that you would rather play good, play-off capable teams in the regular season and risk missing the post season? Or would you rather make the play-offs and have a chance at a somewhat decent seed and at least give your team a chance to fight? 5-5 looks a lot worse than 8-3 or 9-3. Truth. Even though the IMAC cannot claim the depth of some of the knoxville, nashville, or memphis conferences, that is to be expected. Morristown West is looking very good this year. Sevier Co. is routinely good, Cocke Co. is definitely on their way up from the cellar, Seymour has never been overwhelmingly good, but they play in a lot of hard fought games, Cherokee is up to respectability again. Morristown East and South Doyle aren't very good this year, but that's the game... not every school can be good, not every conference can be a power conference. Coming from the aforementioned Farragut, Catholic, Bearden, Maryville...etc. district, I know how hard it was to win, not in just football, but every single sport. But for a team with the post season as a hit or miss thing for the past 5+ years, the scheduling makes perfect sense. Now if you support Jeff Co, quit dissing the program. You and your band of "hatriots" or whatever the "real" jeff co. faithful like to call them, are a cancer to a program that is trying to come out of the ashes.
  6. Heritage is public. It's a blount county school and one of the two weaker schools, but that isn't really saying much since alcoa and maryville are both deserving of the "dynasty" title. Anyways, I don't really know much about either team, but I do know that Jeff Co. looks to be on track for rebuilding. Their defense is much better than the past few years and their offense looks great at most skill positions (hence the wins in the passing league) but the line is definitely learning together after replacing 4 of 5 starters. No predictions here, but I would say look for Jeff Co. to be much more organized and together than in past years.
  7. oh dvp im just playing. I'm not really a stickler for spelling but I thought I could make a funny out of that one. "behavoir" seems like a nice french word though! But seriously, I think that game last night might have woken those "hatriots" up from their constant babbling and slinging of jeers. While we always say that everyone needs to come together and support each other, the real cure is winning. Winning solves everything. At the same time, this just happens to be a vicious cycle of criticism which divides which leads to loss which leads to criticism and so on. I say the patriots can string together 5 or so wins here and make the playoffs and I will stick to my original 7-3 or 8-2 prediction. And with this might be the demise of the cushion-soled "hatriots" (at least until next year but thats too far away)
  8. Shut down running game and there is a fair chance.
  9. Yes, may God protect the feet of the hatriots.
  10. The stands cannot be made much bigger because of the power lines which cross above the east end zone.
  11. Congratulations patriots. Now to keep up with the winning theme I suggest they make some more sudden, unexpected, last minute changes: 1.) Switch to the wing T 2.) Flip Coins to decide who calls offense/defense 3.) Defensive formations should only include quarter and goal line And the patriots keep winning. But seriously, I was not there, but I have heard it was a great effort and from what I've taken in from all of you, it really helped Jeff co. regroup and get the fan base back under them. And I am not bashing coach Anderson, the man works hard and wants success as bad as anyone- but it was great to see him hand the play calling on offense over. Not because he is terrible, just so he can manage the game and team a little more.
  12. Yes yes he did go for that defensive touchdown. I wasn't sure how that happened, i missed everything that happened in that play except Goins running down the field all alone. And I did not see the finger tip- I was pretty high up in the stands. I just thought it floated over the wide receiver, but chances are I was mistaken. Do you agree with anything else? Awesome scrimmages last night though. 28 points is a quarter no matter who it is against.
  13. While 10,000 screaming fans would be great at the first game, I would hope they arent screaming at the players or coaches! This team could be really good. Maybe one of the best teams in 15 years. The things that are holding them back are the little things. I mean, they are big things, but they can be corrected over time and with experience. My little things are: 1.) Penalties- There were probably 4 or 5 false start penalties in the Heritage scrimmage. And at least 3 Pass interference plays that were not called but should have been. (when you are hanging on to someones jersey who is nearly running away from you, that's a penalty) But like I said- little thing, can be corrected. 2.) Line Blocking assignments- The line is a CRUCIAL PART to the offense AND future successes this team will have. Maybe the most important part of the offense. 4 seniors and 1 junior. These guys are very experienced and are strong. There is no reason they should not dominate the line of scrimmage. There were instances where DK would take the hand off and there would be 4 people rushing, and 2 of them would get to him in the backfield. Its 5 against 4. That cannot happen. Another specific example I remember is its a pass play, heritage is blitzing 4. Somehow 3 of them get loose and pursue the QB for an eventual 7 yard sack. As they were saying though, the transition to the spread is difficult so this should come through experience. Also, I heard they were practicing against the 3rd team D in practice. Why dont we do a little 1st team on 1st team so these boys aren't blown out of the water after facing sophomore defensive tackles all summer. 3.) I don't know how to characterize this, but I guess football saavy and discipline? The best example I have of this is, its is 4th and 2 or 3. Jeff Co. is going for it at like the 25-30 yard line. Goins is QB and runs all the way to the side line pretty much. He's completely open, and could easily pick up the 3 yards for the first and run out of bounds. Instead the ball is thrown on the run into the endzone over the receiver. Now Mr. Goins, you are a fine athlete and football player-I will enjoy watching you this season when I come, and I intend no disrespect or really to call you out in any way, I definitely want to make that clear. That was just an example of what my point was. 4.) Screens were killing Jeff Co. I don't know what the fix is, but screens really hurt them. Maybe I was there for the wrong part or the 2nd and 3rd team defense, can anyone clarify for me? Anyways, those 4 problems are overall pretty small and talent can overcome some of them, but if Jeff Co. wants to make that next step up and become the "well oiled machine" they used to be, eliminating these will definitely help. I'm going to say Jeff can go 8-2 assuming they get used to the spread a little more. I would compare it to a new shoe- you try it on and it fits (they have the athletes-it will work) you use it for a while and the results aren't good, they aren't comfortable and they are not broken in, they are stiff and not what you are used to (the transition) but once they fit to your feet, it's all go and the shoes won't be what is holding the runner back. Anyways, any questions or comments can be posted. Good luck in the jamboree tonight.
  14. psh you think thats a game? Webb @ Catholic. The score is close the entire time with Webb having a slight advantage most of the game. Justin Alexander pitching for Webb and Wes Monarch and several others pitching for catholic. Justin comes out after the 6th inning and Catholic has 3 outs left to win. The score at this point is 8-5. KJ Parent (I think, not positive) comes in to pitch. Hit by McDermott, Broussard, then Anders, then Nelson drives in a run. Score 8-6. Parker Wormsley comes into pitch. Next batter Trey Leake hits an opposite field walk off grandslam to beat webb 10-8. Tell me how the ending can get much better than that? I hadn't heard anyone say anything about it so I might as well do it. But anyways, congrats on the win halls!
