Yes, I hate when they do that! I remember Humboldt & Manassa was number 1 &2 in state & they had them playing first game. Manasa end up winning on a last second shot from half court. The rest of the games manassa won by 25 points even championship game was a blow out! Humboldt finished the season 32-1 without a gold or silver ball and was atleast the 2nd best team in state with that lose.

I think Union City will win, they have the best player in Class A & plays great team ball!!

The worst game that I’ve seen them play & they still could have won the game, most of the turnovers were just terrible/lazy passes or forced. Humboldt needs a point guard that can get other players in the game & make good decisions. Point guard can’t have over ten (10) turnovers & jacking up 3’s. Also, I would have fouled & not let them get a 3 off that was on the coaches once in overtime look like we were wore out from 18 point comeback!

Don’t know what to expect from the Memphis school can never tell by their records just got to play ball!!

Never know what will happen with High school players but all three (3) have to get to the glass house first then anything can happen from there. Something about the glass house that gets the best of players but get their and everybody has a chance for gold ball!

Yes, I would start out in a zone to see if they can shoot & not let them run & gun. Humboldt need to go inside & the open 3’s will come. Also, guards need to slash through zone when they double shivers or Fred take what they give is.

Yes, hopefully they will refocus but defense has to know where the shooters are can’t let one player score 40! I remember guarding Cannon Whitby & holding him to 16 points and most of those points came from FT line because you couldn’t touch him. Got to be discipline & stay in front of your man. UC hit about 12 or 13 three pointers got to make someone else beat you. Overall, Humboldt played a good game but made a lot of mistakes, point guard had atleast 10 turnovers by doing to much just play basic team ball. I think coach will have them refocus but Memphis will be tough to play at!!!

Great game against Union City & Humboldt went down to wire with UC winning 70-68 with Brooks having 40 points that kid can play! Humboldt will travel to Memphis to play Middle College on Monday & UC gets Booker T Washington at home. Good luck Vikings let’s get ready to play Monday!!!

Yes, I hope they can go on a six (6) game win streak to win gold ball, or I’ll take five (5) wins loss regional championship & win out! lol

Yes, they played a lot of kids but wasn’t one of their best games, a lot of missed easy shots & unforced turnovers. Coach Abernathy will have them focused as they prepare for next game this team is still young with only two (2) seniors & one starts. If, the guards are playing good & making good decision they will have a chance to get back to Murfreesboro but it will depend on how guards play. With 6’4 & 6’5 post players, teams will have to play a zone because you can’t get around shivers & if defense can keep pressure without fouling they will have a shot!

He is a big athletic kid has started center on the basketball team since 9th grade, plays both ways & also kick the ball off & 90% of time it’s a touchback. Shivers is just a junior this year & only 15 years old so he still has a lot of potential & very quick on his feet to weigh almost 340 pounds! Les the basketball to state tournament last year averaging 13pts & 12 rebounds, hopefully he will stay focus with all the big time offers that he has!
