  1. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Bloggers: I am getting the feel that many of you think I am associated with the Lady Blaze. But I'm not. I have a daughter who loves the Lady Blaze and has attended one of their camps. We do follow Blackman basketball and has seen the majority of their games. As far as approaching Coach H, I have no connection and CoachT allows me to express myself. My opinion has been inspired by parents, faculty and fans who unfortunately talk out loud. But out of respect to everyone, I will keep my personal views to myself. And I wish them well. Go Blaze!
  2. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> Ssssssh! My mouth is closed about my opinion of Blackman. Thanks for the advise. But opinion or statements are what Coach T is about and it's not always desirable. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Did anyone see the game on Friday between Blackman/Cookville girls. I know Blackman lost, but how was the game.
  3. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Moving on. The good comes with the bad. And I think I did express the neg and pos of Blackman.
  4. Camper and Blackman Fans: First of all I wasn't slamming the Team or Coaches I was stating the facts and I am not apologizing for voicing my opinion, while others whisper to each other. I am hoping my opinion is among adults and I do feel my opinion has a valid point. And if a player is offended, my APOLOGIZE. But without the names in my statement it would be hard to follow. The point I was trying to make is not based on community likes or dislike, or classroom standings. A coach is not awarded for this. In order for a coach to keep his/her job, they have to win games and produce a good team. And if this isn??™t achieved many kids will lose athletic scholarships. But according to the games I saw, the stats I read, and how the game is played. The door seem to be open for the point guard. I do agree that 7 to 9 girls have playing time, but only for a minute; if it's that long. Great contributors sit the bench the majority of the time, while someone with only leadership skills play the majority of the game. Coach H does do some things well, but when it comes to crucial situations like the Riverdale, Siegel, and Wilson Central game that was lost in the last minute of the game, he failed. The LADY BLAZE has come a long way and should be commended. They should go very far- THE STATE, but they can??™t do this without team ball and good coaching. With a few adjustments it can be accomplished. And this is my opinion-after all this is what the message board is for. Great job Lady Blaze for working so hard. Can wait to see the outcome. Also, It was great to see the young lady who scored 18pts back in the game (where has she been)? She really does a great job getting the ball down the floor. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  5. Well I can tell you what problems Blackman is having, Campbell is a ball hog at the request of the Coach. Everything seem to be design around her. Dorsett is useless when it comes to defense and 1 three pointer a game is no help either. Sometimes I wander if Campbell and Dorsett are playing volleyball. And about Nowlin she should be shooting the three, but only Campbell and Dorsett have been given the go ahead. Things with Nowlin are up and down and I??™m sure this has to do with her legs. Which bring me to disjoint why is she defending the best player on the floor and trapping. And why is the some of the best players Overton and Bailey are on the bench, they can really help out. Coach Hildon also need to leave things along when people are getting the job done. Now about the post, they can't perform because they are to busy wasting time posting up with no chance of getting the ball. The post are poor at rebounding because they are busy trying to find someone to block out. Question? Do Campbell or Dorsett ever get tired? They seem to never the game. Other players are benched for making one mistake. How to improve on defense stop trying to trap, this will never work when only one person is doing all the work pressuring the ball and others are to slow to trap. Coach Hildon could help this team if it would shut up and let the girls play the game and stop coaching their every move. And this pointer is most important: STOP TRYING TO FREEZE THE BALL. Every time this is done they lose. I do think Blackman has a good team, but wrong lineup and no TEAM ball. I all almost finish with my pointers. Last two pointer. Try this offensive move: Put Nowlin, Overton, Campbell, Norris and Cox or Smith and see what happens.. Help from the bench: Bailey and Hall. Defense: man to man, 2/3 no trapping it doesn't work.
  6. Well but! Overstraining has hurt a lot of players. For instance our team practices 6 to 7 days a week for 2.5-3.0 hours. During the summer they are encourage to play AAU basketball long with participating in there school summer program. Which requires a strenuous running exercise. Also, I can??™t see the purpose of 2 a days, specially when they have worked all summer and fall. Because of the none stop breaks the kids are drain physically and mentally . I feel that exhaustion has cause several injuries for our team: 4 knee injuries which cause surgeries, a shoulder injury, two leg injuries. The kids are encourage to start back before they have a chance to heal. Coaches also play the psychological game with our children, telling them to stink it up, be tuff, push yourself . And don't get sick- you have to come to practice even if you don't attend school, have a fever or even throwing up. THE LINE MUST BE DRAWN. Our kids must speak up and not feel intimidated or treated with a consequences, for not being able to continue at a certain pace. The COACHES AND ATELETIC DIRECTOR must respect our kids by giving their body a chance to rest and stop pushing them beyond unnecessary limits.
  7. Gator, your right! BHS, mufreesboro has a point guard who has high score every game. Matter of fact, look at the stats, she dominates in every catogory. Where are the other players and do they account for anything? I thought in the game of basketball, one of the task of a PG was to pressure the ball, but thats not goin happen guarding the weaks player. Other tasks of a PG SHOULD be steals and assists. But thats kind of hard when she shoots 90% of the time. It would be good if she stepped her game up in these area. And don't worry about fouls on defense, that means you are playing tough defense. I don't fault the PG for her like of ability to fulfill the whole PG position. The coach has alot to do with this situation, he has given her the green light and others are held back to run plays. It's okay to lead in every catorgory as long as its Team ball. But she need to complete all the task (assists & defense) of a PG. Don't get me wrong, she is a good shooter, but percentage wise it doesn't add up. Also, What happen to the black girl who is now a senior sitting on the bench? She was a hot player last year. Also why isn't the inside players not used? In the game of BB most coaches work inside/out. I can understand this not working if you had a week inside. With 3 strong big girls they should be contributing alot. To end on a positive note its exciting to see the team doing well. Go TEAM!!!
  8. Man... no one is giving Blackman any credit, they have come along way and making big strives. In watching them i see a few things that could but them in the low seat. 1. They are not a run and gun team, to much coaching from the blench 2. The point guard and guards doesn't see that floor that well. Point guard main focus is shooting and no defense when it comes to pressuring the ball. 2. The inside player aren't utilize that much. But during the Riverdale and siegel game they showed great strength in every area. My rankings: Blackman, White County, Cookeville, Riverdale, Lebanon
  9. Indian, I checked out the girls stats today too and one player lead in all area but rebounds and i'm sure they forgot to but her there. What I see from this is a ball hog, 1 man team, selfishness, etc... I like to see how much can be accomplish when the other 4 are not out there.
  10. Wow! What's the big deal? This has been going on for years and it STINKS. Kids have been transferring to schools and coaches have been recruiting since sports came into existence. Who wouldn't want to play on a victorious team or for a victorious coach. This could be why some school are over crowded. If the schools/ TSAA, etc... would dig a little deeper I'm sure 20% or more are not zone for were they attend. Also, what are we teaching our kids: If I don??™t like my coach transfer, If I don??™t start for my team transfer, our team hasn??™t done well its time to go. THIS ISN???T HOW THE REAL WORLD WORKS. **If you are an athlete with great talent, who wouldn??™t want to see you perform. If we are worried about athletic scholarships, colleges would travel the blue sea to see someone with great talent. But how can we stop these over zealous parents and bratty children who think the world revolves around them. Here is a few ideals: If a athlete transfer to a new school without probably cause they shouldn??™t be eligible to play that season. If a student hasn??™t lived in that zone for 6 mths, put them on probation and if they move again within that year, student would become ineligible for a year. And if a coach/student violates the TSAA/school rules, the coach should be fired and the student not permitted to play period This is the kind of stuff that happens in the real world. And talking about another thing that gets my goat- ???POLITIC??? kids- who are on the team and playing because of who they know, not according to their ability to play the game. BUT THAT??™S ANOTHER TOPIC
