  1. I'll just disagree with you Omaha. Other than Randall Cobb what other QBs/ATHs have they produced? I'm asking out of ignorance not trying to slight Alocoa. And MUS was not just a one man team. McBride and Almond were beasts and so was that defense, yes Bruenetti was good, but keep in MUS spanked the 6A champs with their backup QB. I'll take South Panola against Alcoa 38-14 if they played. I guess that is alot closer. 45-10 if they played Maryville etc. I think SP only beats Brentwood academy and Oakland by 3 scores at the most.
  2. No one said they were, but that MUS team last year was great and lets keep in mind they didn't have Keith McBride I believe that game, and numerous drops etc. To me SP could've been beaten by two TDs if MUS had some decent Wideouts.
  3. Alot closer? I think you're not giving South Panola enough credit and Alcoa too much. South Panola has blown out COlquitt COunty, Petal, and MUS. All top 10 teams, I honestly think the result would be the same if USP lined up against Alcoa. MUS probably has the best Oline in the state, but they were manhandled. No team in Tennessee with the exception of maybe Brentwood Academy or Oakland could really compete with USP.
  4. Do any here think that Alcoa would've faired any better against South Panola?
  5. If Humboldt played Manassas schedule they wouldn't have been undefeated that year.
  6. Southwind got a safety, only score of the game so yes they did "beat" Fairley and hence the quotation marks, but Holiday did run the ball for the few series, he had some fumbles and didn't play. I believe Harmon only had one INT, I honestly think Southwind was the better team, they had numerous oppurtunities to score in the redzone and with all the turnovers Fairley had, Southwind would've had more scoring chances in a real game, but both teams had alot of positives and negatives. I don't think Fairley showed their full arsenal, it was mostly Jet Sweeps, and Read Options. Why doesn't Harmon play more on Offense?
  7. Watched a few scrimmages this weekend, Both of the Southwind scrimmages, Saw Whitehaven and MUS briefly, and Hillcrest/Kingsbury. Southwind "beat" Fairley, but White Station "beat" Southwind by a score of 9-0(Safety and TD), Both the Defenses looked killer, but I do think White Station secondary may be a weakness this year. Coach Rutherford loves to blitz so they should be alright against most teams. After the first drive White Station didn't do much, as Antonio Cheatam started getting hit a little bit harder and harder, and the Sophmore QB Jerry Thompson looked good running the read option, but his arm leaves something to be desired. As for Southwind they have alot of young, and new faces, but their defense looked good, Deadrick Jones and Chaz Powell made some nice plays in the secondaries. They have a kid from FLorida playing LB, man he's a missle. Their Offense struggled until the last drive. The Hillcrest/Kingsbury game was somewhat sloppy, and I was surprised that Hillcrest basically ran away with the scrimmage, but it is just a scrimmage. In other words I think Whitehaven's success will be determined by the coaching staff, White Station probably WON'T repeat as State Champs, this is Whitehaven's year in 6A honestly. I think Hillcrest and Kingsbury may be a little better than people think, and I'm positive Southwind will win more than 2 games this year. Any word on other scrimmages coming up?
  8. Southwind vs. Fairley Southwind vs. White Station- Saturday
  9. I see, but McAfee was no slouch at C-mont, I've got family in the north so I saw alot of him and Houston, but everytime I see Jones he was always ripping Southwind's heart out. Glad he's gone! In a fun way, but I think McAfee and Hampton will fill his void nicely.
  10. I don't think Melrose or Southwind would mind traveling up there again, Southwind will need to face a Liberty and Dyer Co. next year if they don't see the Choctaws in the playoffs.
  11. Sorry Terop I'll always take an explosive 6'2/6'3 Combo Guard over a 5'9 one.
  12. Whats funny about my post? I'm sure everyone know Jackson was the higher priority than Jones? Lacey, Madden, and McAfee are also better than Jones?
  13. McAfee was sitting out with an injury I believe and Parks is in the Phillipines. He MAY be staying there instead of returning to Melrose in the fall, but who knows. Leron Black is the real deal, I attended the FBU camp in Nashville and talked to a guard from Ensworth who witnessed Black in person and called him a future pro. Now I'm not saying respect or heed the word of another high schooler, but his talent is clear and he is well respected and feared from his peers. He's a beast. Ridgeway has good post player in Brandon Lewis and Kordario Flemmimg. 6'5 and 6'6 respectively. Cameron Golden, Terrious Tripplet, Adam Weary, and Markell Morgan are a solid group of guards and they'll be good enough for 2nd place in 15-AAA, Southwind SHOULD beat them and give Coach Edwards his first district crown.
  14. Southwind look different this year with more emphasis on J3 and Kedorian Sullivan along with Darious Paige. I'll say this about Dyer County, Yarbough will be a beast this upcoming season after playing AAU in Memphis I believe he had a 40 point game. Has Dyer County confirmed any of their out of district games? I believe Southwind is supposed to be heading to Orlando for a tournament.
  15. Don't wanna play this role, but keep in mind Melrose didn't have Adonis Thomas, Ced McAfee, along with Bobby Parks. Joe Northing and Martavious Newby also didn't play, but White Station win is impressive. Is Leron Black suiting up for them? White Station will take a couple steps back this year. Central, Southwind, and Melrose will be the cream of the crop.
