  1. I don’t know where you got your info about the 95 team, but the only person that had been from Cumberland Co was Radhika Dishman. She had also suffered multiple ACL injuries. Andrea had attended Crossville for a year, but she sat out a year when she came back. However, she had always been a C-Range kid. I don’t even know who the 3rd person you are talking about. Also, recruitment is something that is a funny thing. Is it recruitment for a player to see the difference in programs and make a choice when enrolling for high school? Thing about Clarkrange is nothing is guaranteed. You play or ride the pine by what you do, not your last name or donors or whatever. That’s how it was and how I hope it will always be.
  2. First off, there are untrue statements in this post. I know because I played for Clarkrange and definitely scrimmaged York girls in an official scrimmage. There’s so much bad blood here. Don’t touch it. Those scrimmages always ended with fights, clothing ripped off, and sometimes, injuries. Let it go.
  3. There are massive media packets that are generated and sent as well, essentially highlight clips, print materials, etc. It’s ridiculous because it is somewhat dependent on the individual’s ability to pay for the best materials. Most great players I know don’t really care, even the ones who won. They care about how their team performs. The essence of the award is completely against the team nature. What about amazing players who aren’t prolific scorers? What about ball hogs? What about winning? There are so many ways to skew it, and almost anyone can cut film to look good. Just my opinion, but it’s just one more thing to encourage a distraction from what should be the primary goal. Lots of historically great teams don’t have any or many Miss Basketball nominees, much less winners.
  4. Brittany Cooper plays at Trch right now, and they signed Hannah Garrett this year. Both of those girls are from Clarkrange. However, they are both taller than Pritchett. She’s a very balanced player. Unfortunately, many schools won’t sign players under a certain height unless they are super freaks of nature, exceptionally quick or lots of upside.
  5. This is old, inaccurate, and stupid. Just stop. Neither Jackson County nor Fentress County are zoned. Any kid can go to any school. By the way, when your school is great you don't have to recruit. if you knew the situation at the other school, you would shut your mouth. These schools have great traditions because the best players play. It doesn't matter what your last name is, who your parents are, or how much money you have. Instead of hating, how about just enjoying some great basketball?

Obviously you have not been aware of the ice and wind storm that toppled over 300 utility poles in the area. Both Hwy 62 and Hwy 127 were impassable for a bus until Monday. Goodpasture still had to exit at Crossville to come up. Also, there was a little issue of no electricity. I still don't have electricity, but you know. No way Clarkrange could travel on Sat or Sunday.
  7. I love basketball and have seen and played with some amazing players. Part of what made them great was how they interacted with their teammates. Sometimes threads like this can be very damaging, particularly to young players, because it places so much emphasis on stat lines and individual accomplishments. Statistically, most people won't play beyond high school. The lessons learned from basketball usually come from putting a group before an individual and fun times on trips, stupid stuff during practice, etc. I've also seen players lose the love of the game due to parental pressures and people in their ear telling them all sorts of nonsense. Please be careful when talking to and posting about young players.
  8. She's definitely a great free throw shooter. This award is basically decided through a publicity campaign. People who want it prepare publicity materials, including but not limited to stats, film, and previous awards. This provides a sampling for voters. It can be an expensive endeavor for students to gather materials and make up that many packets. You also have to know who to send them to. It's impractical to believe that voters could physically see every possible player. There's also the possibility of seeing them on an off night or when they don't play for a substantial amount of time.
  9. They went to camp with York this summer.
  10. The guard from Crossville played jr. high ball at South Fentress. The other two freshmen are from Fentress County as well.
  11. She's a great player, but she's a freshman. She just doesn't have the body of work yet to establish her for Miss Basketball. We played them when she was in Jr. High. Probably the most poised, technically sound, pure shooter I've ever seen at that level. Can't wait to see how she develops...
