New Defense? Looked like a simple 2-3 zone to me, nothing fancy. Hampton indeed had the upper hand in the first half and part of the third. Cloudland made no adjustments on the offensive end, but when you are down 14 and make 3 straight 3's on consecutive positions it changes the momentum to say the least. Cloudlands press is what made the difference, when they turned up the pressure it made the game into more of a full court instead of half court effectively taking the posts from Hampton out of the game. You could tell Hampton missed their point and really had no guards come off the bench. Good Game though!

I agree that students should not yell insults at the opposing team, but that is what happens at almost every basketball game highschool or college. But as an adult in this situation they should know that this is very common, but I usually don't witness grown men running to the rescue just because someone yelled at junior. Student sections try to get in the head of opposing players, but this time they got into the head of some adult who was having flashbacks of 20 years ago. I am sure tape will be reviewed to see exactly what happened.

Hampton fan shows true colors last night when an idiot adult fan hit a student from jc and just about started a bleacher clearing brawl. WHEN YOU GO TO A HIGHSCHOOL BASKETBALL GAME AND CHOOSE TO SIT NEXT TO THE STUDENT SECTION YOU ARE GOING TO HEAR SOME THINGS THAT YOU DO NOT APPROVE OF, BUT TO PHYSICALLY ASSAULT A STUDENT IS RIDICULOUS. AND THEN SOME OLDER MAN DECIDED HE NEEDED TO HIT THE STUDENT AS WELL, THIS COULD HAVE GOTTEN REALLY UGLY. ADULTS SHOULD GO TO GAMES AND ACT LIKE IT. HAMPTON HAS A REALLY NICE BALL CLUB AND TO HAVE FANS THAT CANT CONTROL THEMSELVES IS REALLY AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE COMMUNITY.

you are right he does have alot of talent, but his youth shows on the court against good opponents, i hope they win the gold ball, but the pg is an issue. i have watched at least 6 or 8 of their games. the other players help hide the inexperience. it is like a few years ago when t white was the pg when he was like a freshman and they had other great players around him, but he was to young to get the job done. then when he was a senior the posts were to young. good luck to bearden

bearden's lack of a point guard issues will keep the gold ball out of the east!

i said on another post if bearden keeps the rotation that they have and do not keep their main STUDS on the court then they will not win state. i saw this in the arby's classic, they had better talent but chose to stay with the rotation and a good team beat them. also their lack of a point guard will cost them the state. i saw them try to put 2 or 3 different guys at the poin in the arby's and with quality pressure they threw all over the gym

but from top to bottom district 1 has won more games the last several years was the point

that was not putting anyone down. without a doubt they would win district 2 next year, just now they will be in disrtict 3 with a-e and fulton and can anyone hardly rem. teams from the east getting past knox.? they may be able to upset one of those teams but the odds are against them. i believ if you actually read the post i said they have 3 of the best wing players around. if smith can learn to shoot the 3 they could be even better.

i think that people had respect for union's game, i just don't think many people could see them beating the top 2 from district 1 since really the last few years district 1 has been a lot stronger from top to bottom as evident by the 1st round games. but to give union credit they have 3 of the best players on the wing in this region and they must have peaked at the right time. i think most people knew last year that union could be the best team from district 2. they better enjoy before they join the big dogs next year.

if unicoi plays as well as they can then it could be a 20 point win. union may be able to hang around if they can guard lyle, miller will do his damage. union looked like they could become a little shaking if pressed the other night in the game with jc. if jc had played well then it would have been a district 1 final, but oh well

any thoughts on tonights game? union is probably long enough to defend the 3 but i dont think they can keep erwin from going on a big run. winner could have a great chance at going to the boro

bearden is a great team, but i find it hard to believe that against the best teams the 5 in 5 out system will continue to work. the only 2 teams they have played with better talen they have lost in part maybe because the studs on the team spend about half the time on the bench.

unaka has a solid team to build around and the coaches do a good job of getting players to put forth effort. more championship teams will follow. they are hard workers and will be back near the top soon enough. the big blue whatever is going to have some good teams too, but when ned decides to move on things will chang quickly

i think that was one of their worst games of the year by far offensively. the first half shooting was torrid. it is a shame that these boys did not play one of their best games of their life in a win or go home game. with a-e getting beat it would have been a great chance to go to the state. but 3 years in a row to the region semis is a pretty good accomplishment.

union should have a chance vs. unicoi, but the blue devils have been in this situation many times. union should be glad they got jc on a bad night, it was probably one of the worst games they played all year! just sad it ended like this again. union had a good defense though, but if jc had brought their A game and would have been at 100 % the outcome would have been much different. for all the grainger fans that made a big deal about their kids being sick, jc had a starter out with an injury, their 6th man taking iv fluids before the game and still not playing. but tonight union wanted it more and it showed! best chance for a region 1 team to go to the state in many years
