  1. Walker Valley played 5-6 teams in this area that was better than Science Hill.
  2. I don't have a dog in this race, and know virtually nothing about either girl, so take what I'm about to say as being from someone who knows how the system works. In order to even be considered, a coach or parent has to neraly hire a PR firm to "push" their respected player's name - through the media, AAU coaches, as well as many others. Now, the best player still may be fortunate enough to win it all on her own merits, but that doesn't always happen. Sometimes the best player doesn't even make it to the final three being considered because her name isn't promoted the way other girls' names are. That's sad, but unfortunately it's how the system works. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> And just to be clear about the selection in Class A, I have no idea who was the best.
  3. The previous game between Livingston Acadmey and Westview.
  4. Another strange game as far as free-throw opportunities: Gibson 13 chances - South Greene 1 chance. With a little over two minutes to go in the first half, South Greene is outscoring Gibson County from the field by 3 points.....but trailing the game by 9 points.
  5. A little closer game than I thought it would be. Seemed to be a huge differential in fouls - especially the first half. Congrats to Westview for a great season. Nothing to be ashamed of for your young ladies. Congrats to LA for the victory. You can be assured whoever you play tomorrow for the gold will be good.
  6. After watching the Westview / Elizabethton game Wedneday, several of us Central fans thought if we could just get by Livingston Academy our girls would be in the finals Saturday. Maybe Westview just didn't play a good game against Elizabethton, but they certainly didn't impress me as being a contender. Now, if you Westview fans want to say that McMinn Central didn't impress you either, then I'd agree with you. Our girls played the worst game I've seen them play in two years. But my point is that we got beat playing a bad game, and if Westview plays Livingston Academy anything like they did against Elizabethton, and if LA plays anywhere close to the way they played Wednesday, then Westview will be packing it up and going home after their game today. But, that's whay they play the game.
  7. I've only had one wrong pick so far in the AA Bracket. Because that wrong pick was McMinn Central winning it all, that error will continue throughout the entire bracket (yes, I was biased). However, being 75% correct in the first four games qualifies me somewhat. So here goes: After watching both Westview and obviously Livingston Academy play Wednesday, I think Livinston Academy is the better team between the two. I didn't get to watch either South Greene or Gibson County play, but I'm going with South Greene merely because I was raised in neighboring Cocke County and I'm familiar with their program and past successes. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and fans of all four remaining teams.
  8. I wasn't at that game in '07 and just assumed it was at state. Apparently that was a sub-state game?
  9. Chargerette fan, with all due respect, let it die. It doesn't matter if the UConn Lady Huskies had lost yesterday to LA - a loss is still a loss. Yes, "if" the Central girls had played a good game I believe they would have won - BUT they didn't. Livingston Academy did what they had to do in order to win.....our girls didn't. And what does it matter what you or I think now? The game is over.....LA is still playing.....and our girls are not. Your insistence that the LA fans see it your way isn't going to work. And had the shoe been on the other foot and the Chargerettes won, I would have taken any comments (such as yours) from an LA fan as being one of sour grapes. Be happy for the wonderful legacy our Senior girls have left, and how they've raised the bar for future girls wanting to pridefully play for the Chargerettes! Going to the state three years in a row is quite an accomplishment that even many of the best teams in the state can't boast about. Our day will come.
  10. Fortunately, I wasn't around any idiot fans from either team and I'm glad I wasn't!!! I was in the Central section and everyone there was just cheering the Chargerettes on and were even very complimentary of the LA players when they made a good play. Speaking of which, is #22 still hitting those 3's??? /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> All of the LA fans I met before the game, and especially at halftime, were nice to talk to and complimentary of the Chargerettes.
  11. OSC, first I'd like to thank you for letting me ride to the game with you, and even buying my meal after the game. You have a wonderful wife and Granddaughter who had to put up with me, so I thank them also. The city of Etowah, and McMinn Central High School is blessed to have someone like you......and I feel blessed that I can call you a friend. About the game......well, it was a heartbreaker, mainly because they had one of their worst shooting games over the last couple of years - both from the court and the free-throw line. As much as I hate it for the Central fans, I hate it more for the girls - and especially the Seniors who went 67-4 over the past two years. They got within one game last year of playing for the coveted state championship, losing to the eventual champion, Marshal County by two points. Expectations were high this year that the Chargerettes would get to play in that state championship game, having virtually all of the same girls back. Coach Morgan set the goal high at the beginning of the season. Yesterday ended their run and they fell two games short of playing for it all......so I'd say the girls have been extremely successful in what they've accomplished. The hurt, pain, and tears will soon go away for them.......and they'll eventually see just how high they've raised the bar for the Chargerette program. The Chargerette fans will come out en masse again next year to support a strong program that Coach Morgan has built. On paper, with the loss of some key seniors, next year's team won't be quite as good, but with the returning talent I believe by season's end they'll have enough experience to make it to sub-state, and possibly to the state tournament again. LA fans.....your team played hard and did what they needed to do in the 3rd quarter to not only wipe out an 8 point halftime deficit, but to have about an 8 point lead by the start of the 4th quarter. #22 was shooting lights out from beyond the arc, and by the time our girls adjusted their defense, that young lady had already sank about 5 in a row. My compliments to the coaching staff and players for LA in seizing the moment. After watching Westview beat Elizabethton prior to our game yesterday, I thought the winner of the Central/LA game would beat Westview.......so get 'r done and go play for that state championship Saturday!!! Maybe we'll meet up again next year in Murfreesboro!
  12. So, people will be allowed to go out and smoke?
  13. Trying to figure out who I am could be humorous. I'm actually more of a Meigs' Lady Tiger follower due to being related by marriage to a couple of their players. My Grandson played 4 years of football (two years of baseball and basketball) for the Tigers. And since my 4 boys played every sport imaginable for the McMinn Co. Cherokees in the late 80's and early 90's, you can see that I'm actually the last person you'd expect to be supporting the Chargers or Chargerettes! /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> I have many friends in the Etowah area, though, and really like the type of ball the Chargerettes play. I'm a friend to some of the girls' parents, too, as well as a friend to your quarterback's parents, and placekicker's parents. And since my 7 year old Granddaughter lives in Englewood and is a good basketball player already, and thrives on being a Chargerette someday.....I figure I might as well get used to actually having someone from my family playing for McMinn Central. I just hope the Lord forgives me for that! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> See you at the 'boro, if OldSchool stays out of the ditches!
  14. OldSchoolCharger is one of the good guys, and if you're around the football program much you know who he is. He told me he knew who you were. By the way, his lovely spouse is going too, so I guess he and I both will have to be on our best behavior. The babes in Murfreesboro will be safe this time. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  15. Am I taking my life into my own hands by riding over with OldSchoolCharger? Will my good reputation be tarnished forever by being seen around him? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
