  1. I know nothing about Gordonsville, so I am curious as to who will match up with Deathridge. Of course, like I said I know nothing about Gordonsville, so I can't predict a winner.
  2. He plays the same role that the other assistant coaches play. I don't understand how you can say you have been to several games and not know how much of a role these coaches play. But your main beef is with Piercey anyway, so, c'est la vie. I haven't seen them play, but what is the talent level at the middle school this year? I don't know, that's why I am asking. Regardless of talent level, I have a hard time believing it was Brown's coaching that led to the winless season. I have seen him coach with talent and without talent, at both levels (middle and high school), and the man knows basketball.
  3. Brown's "Waterboy" Bio So, Shakes, what your saying is...the opinion of two former players at both of Piercey's schools is inferior to your hearsay opinion. Let me guess the seniors are the ones you are buddies with...the same seniors who played as sophomores and went 0-whatever until they voted the big boys back to come play with them. I also think it is humorous that you would bring cougars2state in on the thread when 1.) it was a completely different thread and 2.) their coach is the one who Piercey played for and worked under before taking his position at Friendship when Edwards left to go to Goodpasture. Were you at the GP/Ezell games?...the coaching similarities are scary! As far as Lackey not dominating...you are going to say that Lackey's nondomination is a product of Piercey's bad coaching...you're right, that makes sense. Never mind he has a bad ankle, was out during a number of games and has been sick this year. Good theory, I like your reasoning. As far as Duke not dominating...he has led his team in scoring 10 times this year, followed the leading scorer by one point 8 times, and is averaging 15.5 points per game. I don't even have statistics for the dishes he has given or the boards he has grabbed. Yes, there have been games when he didn't dominate however few and far between they are, but there is more to your theory than just putting points on the board. You say you've been to the games, but are you watching the game or critiquing the coaches while you're there? BTW, not every coach works hard.

    DCA

Even without Clark, DCA does not have what they need to match up with MJ. Believe me, I think DCA will represent the small schools well in the 'Boro but I don't see it happening against MJ...w/ or w/o Clark! Either way, both are very great teams in their divisions!
  5. Not taking anything away from the Davidson ladies, but the two games you compared were two totally different situations. DCA playing FRA and Ezell to under five speaks volumes about the fierce competition in the Nashville "ABC" district. Those teams battle for everything in district play and they get up for every game where they are seen to be an underdog. Comparing Ezell girls to DCA girls, you would think it would be way DCA-lopsided, but anything can happen in big rival district games. I am not saying that DCA will win or lose, personally I would like to be there for that one. I have seen DCA beat the stuffing out of several top notch programs. And I have heard that DA deserves the ranking they hold. But comparing the way DCA played against Ezell and FRA and the way DA played against the same two opponents is funny. It's two completely different situations. Like I said, I would like to watch that one. Should be a good exhibition of girls' basketball.
  6. I don't know if they still do it, but a few years ago at the NAIA Womens' National Basketball tournament in Jackson, Tennessee one of the pre-tournament activities involved the athletes working with the Special Olympics of West Tennessee. I remember what it was like and I will never forget the look on some of their faces, both the athletes and the kids they were helping. You take for granted a lot of things until you give back. By the way, this is a great topic.
  7. Goodpasture by 9. I wasn't there but I heard through the grapevine it was a really good game. Ezell probably impressed more than a few people by fighting that hard. I know several people have said they were very impressed by their effort, and enjoyed the game that many thought would be lopsided.
  8. I know you are not trying to start an argument and I didn't mean to say you were lying...I apologize. However, I too, have had one on one conversations with him and he gave different reasons for leaving. Those reasons I don't care to mention but it was also much earlier in the school year, so as with anything else, opinions and reasons can change. Why is it unclassy? Because why would he put them down, just to justify a move to a school where he had already been and was happy? People like Piercey tend to let the statistics speak for themselves. It is merely my opinion based on my own "one on one convo" with Piercey, very much like your opinion about someone else's "one on one convo." I, too, do not feel the need for an argument. I was stating an opinion, not a fact. I apologize if my opinion doesn't count as much as yours.
  9. NCS03, you are right...Piercey is a good coach. He is extremely dedicated and his work ethic is just the example any high school kid needs to see. Piercey was very dedicated to his boys at FC and several of those boys were coached by Piercey in middle school. Sometimes coaches have to move on in order to move up. As far as Piercey saying Ezell has more talent...doubt it. He is far too classy (and smart) to voice an opinion like that, whether he thinks it is true or not.
  10. Coach T, Where is the volleyball message boards? I have not been on in a while, so maybe I have missed something. I don't have a problem with the new "Plus member" regulations and "out of season message boards," but I would like to read the volleyball posts since it is a fall sport. Just curious. Thanks.
  11. gogold, you asked if she was big enough and strong enough? I believe she is, and with some experience at the college level she will be an asset to the program. If she is still working as hard as she was in years past, her work ethic will pay off. She is a scoring threat inside and out, she can handle the basketball in the backcourt and frontcourt, and she can play perimeter defense better than most girls her size. I think she will need some fine-tuning, but I definately think the Lady Lions have found a hard working player in MacPherson. Good luck, Lauren!
