  1. I saw the newscast with Coach Davis talking about Megan last night. He is a great caring person who did a great job of showing that last night. I wish they had done more stories, etc. this week on the local girls at the College World Series. Alabama-Jennifer Wright Tennessee-Megan Rhodes, Natalie Brock & Ashley Cline I got to see these girls up front at the tournament last weekend & they all are part of a pretty good team. They had great support out there. I guarantee the local papers out there did more articles & pictures of these girls in Oklahoma than there was here. Cline had a great big picture the 1st day on the front page of sports(color at that), scoring the only run against Arizona. Brock knocked in the only 2 runs in the Michigan yesterday afternoon. Rhodes was ready whenever they needed her, just happens to be playing behind one of the top pitchers in the nation. 5 of the 6 pitchers on the All-American team pitched in the tourney. Good luck to all the local girls that are playing next year. Who knows, maybe the local papers will do an article on one of them in the future.

    Megan Rhodes

Megan is having a terrific year, both in the classroom as well as the field. She happens right now to be starting in the SEC Semi Winners Bracket against the SEC #1 team Georgia Bulldogs. In the top of the 4th UT is winning 2-0, hope Megan & UT can hang on. Great job, but I feel she can do better than that! PS: Great year this year also to NAT, go get them Coach
  3. Prior to ASA State Tournament coming up, looking for quality players that might like to play in 18-U, ASA Nationals, Clovis California. Team has already qualified but need to solidfy lineup with a couple big sticks, etc. Please write experience, High School, Position and any information that you can give. For interested players, contact coachblues@aol.com
  4. Looking for a couple players that are versatile, dedicated to travel ball, travel out-of-town most every weekend. Play 18-U A/Gold Tournaments out of Nashville area. Especially in need of experienced catcher willing to play other positions as needed. ASA Memorial, Chattanooga, TN SE Showcase - Birmingham, ALA If you are interested with playing with some of top talent in Middle Tennessee, e-mail coach at bbl12753@aol.com. Give details of experience & abilities. Looking for College players or those desiring to play in college. High commitment level needed.
  5. All of those NAshville Eagles played College ball. They all were pretty good. At the 2002 ASA Nationals (18-U), Rayburn Hesse who writes for Spy Softball noted that the Brentwood Blues were the best team he had seen come out of the South in all the years of ASA fastpitch since the Eagles and he had been watching softball since the late 60's. There are several teams this year that have a chance to make some noise.
  6. 97 Eagles with D Lockridge was a great team. I know that team well, but I believe it was 16-U National ASA Champs. I have family member on that team & they all were very competitive in high school & later.
  7. Thanks Deadeye for the opinion. I don't have a dog in this fight, just curious. I agree about some players with great stats but who do they play. Some players this year end season with .625 avg, but did not play the competition as some players. But, just figured someone in past kept up with their schools that would know what some of the great pitchers of past did accomplish. And if there was a record to be broken, what is it?
  8. I keep reading where these pitchers have broken or have the top strikeout record for TSSAA. The question I have is it written somewhere or does anyone know who the leaders are in strikeouts. Kaci Clark (Brentwood High) had a high mark & so did Brooke Siebel (Father Ryan). Does anyone know how many they had for career? One of the message boards said something about Sarah Houser (Sweetwater) was leading, but didn't say if it was for season or career. I feel there may be others out there that deserve the recognition. I would think that Megan Rhodes before she gets finished will be up there with the best. Let us know who you feel have the most & how many?
  9. Great Article on a Great Gal. Good Luck Laura to you & your CHS team, well not toooo good! I know your mom & dad are proud & so are a lot of other people. Best of luck next year in K-town, hope to see ya a bunch this summer

    Peaking...

I really would like to see our team peak right before the championship game of the State Tournament. That way you know you are playing at your best!

The first round games are not for seeding in the region tournament. Only, the top 2 teams in the district advance to the region, so you have to make the District Championship game.
  12. Just wondering, they have been playing this Tennessee - Georgia All-Star game for years, why do they call it the Tennessee all-stars when they just take the girls in the Chattanooga area. I believe there is a girl in Tennessee that will probably break the Tennesse State Record for career strikeouts and will rank as one of the top pitchers ever to come out of Tennessee, but won't be playing in the Tennessee All-Star game as other players in other parts of state. Maybe I'm wrong or maybe I'm just missing something-
  13. I would also like to say thank you to all the people in Cookeville that put on the tournament. The weather was iffy the whole weekend, but you did a great job pulling it off. Special thanks to the girls that stayed out for the championship game to clean up, etc & give out the awards. Not many places have done so much & we wanted you to know that we appreciate all that you did.

    Hard Choices

I am so sorry all this has happened to Susan & the other girls. I have always enjoyed watching Susan & how hard she has worked in the past. I hope everything works out for you & your family. Good Luck this summer, we'll see you around the field.
  15. Congratulations to Leigh. What a great player. I know there is a golf course pretty close to CS, close to the one she plays all the time. Hope everything goes great for you. Your old travel coach wishes you well-
  16. EzellSoftball04, lack of brain cells do not mean none. Not saying how many you have, but it is more than a few. Maybe I can put in a word in to your summer team to give you a little more action at 3rd, maybe just when MR doesn't pitch. I think you can handle it. Whoever said Megan needed to fatten up didn't mean this way. I know she will bounce back quickly & learn not to pitch that same pitch again. Nice to see the Greenbriar's out there wishing her well. Should be a good game on Tues. Meg,-Moose, Lundy, everyone's been calling to see how you are doing after being hit. I told them I wasn't sure you were going to pitch again. Maybe just play outfield for the rest of the season. That's probably where you will end up in college anyway, that's what I heard one of the top summer coaches say anyway. Keep your bat hot, that's what will keep you in the game. Good Luck the rest of the year! CB

  20. 19 Teams to Compete in tournament this weekend. Should be a great weekend for softball. Teams competing are: Coffee County, Giles County, Hunters Lane, Mt Juliet, Marshall County,Wilson Central, Overton, Hillsboro, Siegel, FRA, East Robertson, Rossview (Clarksville), LaVergne, White House, Houston (Germantown), Station Camp(Gallatin), Christian County (Ky), Brentwood High & Brentwood Academy. $8 tournament price will be a great bargain for all games Fri & Sat. Won't find that price at many tournaments, especially with this field of teams. Best of luck to all teams. Expecting great weather-
  21. Hope the catcher is not seriously hurt. She is a good player & hope she gets back on the field real soon.
  22. My bad weasel, not trying to knock SD out of championship. I meant congratulations to them but also to GHS for staying in there all day, GHS just had some things happen to them that would distract most teams. Both teams got what they wanted out of the day. Good Luck Soddy!
  23. Congratulations to the GHS for winning the playday. They have a great team & have many things to look forward to this year. I would say that the hardest hit ball of the day must have been the one that was caught by Lee Phillips eyebrow. He took a lick, went to the hospital to get stitched up & came right back for more. It was the 2nd trip he made to the hospital on Saturday. I wish him & his wife the best. In spite of him being out, Steve D did his usual & kept the girls focused & played great. When you are playing the best, it's not always bad when you lose. Best wishes to the gals of GHS this season-
  24. CONGRATULATIONS to LEIGH LITTLE, Brentwood Academy for getting her 1,000th point.
  25. I think if someone is seriously considering this, they should check both the NCAA & NAIA codes before committing. No charity would be worth taking the eligibiltiy of players. 1st of all, the only girls eligible would be graduating players because then TSSAA would not sanction the players. AAU is sanctioned body by TSSAA, NCAA etc that makes it legal to play in summers, after all the seasons have been completed. Good luck, hope everything works out.
