    Bearden

sneaky, you need to read a history book. the nazis were fascists not socialist. a socialist government doesn't favor the upper class it favors the middle, see Marx or modern day sweden. socialists take from the rich and give to the poor. Communism is the ideal socialist state which Marx himself said could not be attained without radical change in modern governments. socialist take pigs from rich farms and share for the communial good. fascists shot the farmer, take the pig, so the leader can have bacon for breakfast. Why would no one want to coach at Bearden? See what a West Knoxville education can get you.
  2. If Shephard left for Clarksville and Polston retired, Julian replaced Shepard and Lawson replaced Polston. Who took Julian's position? Doesn't that mean Halls could hire two coaches?
  3. Ole Dad, I don't know if he can but I can. Knox County School Board Procedures Handbook (For Administrators found online) Human Resources Section---Non Faculty Athletic coaches 3. The Football, Basketball, Softball, and Track coach must be an employee of Knox County Schools. (not a direct quote) From my understanding the coach from OR would not have to work at Bearden to be hired but he would have to teach in Knox County
  4. Fair play, Thanks for your response. I was hoping you could discredit my information. It sounds like you are better informed than I am. With regards to the game, I think the Halls defense will have trouble stopping the run game of the Panthers. Their defensive lineman were dominated by Powell. I know nothing about Lenoir City but it seems that they can run the football. I think this could be big trouble for the Red Devils.
  5. Fairplay, I am intrigued by your comment about the reason for this years success. You say the players believe in each other and the coaches. I was at the game Friday with my cousin who attends Halls. She said (I realize this is second hand) that all she hear during school is second guessing of the coaching staff. "Why did we punt on 4th and 1?, Why don't they throw the ball to the tight end?, Why don't we throw the ball to me? Why does so in so play instead of me? If I played we would do better. The coaches took that game from us. etc." Most of what I hear from her (granted she is a female) sounds negative especially with regards to players trusting coaches. I didn't know if you had any "inside" information. Do the players "believe" in the coaches? Or do they believe when things go their way and complain when things don't? Just curious. Lenoir City by 3
  6. I love to hear Halls fans talk about "opening up" the offense and balancing our attack. I did a little researching on the ole Prep Extra and here is what I found: Maryville (best in the state) 829 yds rushing 455 yds passing=65% yardage from rushing Central (3rd best in the state) 632 yds rushing 431 yds passing=60% yarage from rushing Clinton (can't line up) 267 rushing 220 passing=55% yardage from rushing Drum roll... Halls (3-1 for the first time in forever) 649 yds rushing 362 yds passing=64.19% yardage from rushing Pass Attempts Maryville 50 Halls 41 Be careful in High school football when you talk about balance and opening things up. The most "balanced" team in your region is Clinton. Halls is right on par with Maryville and Central in terms of how they get their yards. Halls just needs to get more yards. With regards to passing, it is alot easier said than done. Can your receivers catch? Can your quarterback read coverages? Can your line protect? Smart coaches know that you can't simply say run a route, pass it, and block whoever and it happen. Maybe the Devils are doing the things that they do best (3-1). An old teacher of mine said "Be who you are". Maybe the Devils are doing just that.

  8. Thank You Bobby, I too graduated from Halls in 99. What number were you? I am sure you don't want to share your name on here so let a fellow Red Devil know who you are. I didn't play but I am sure I can figure out by your number. As for the game, expect a fight from the Eagles.
  9. Bobby, being the avid devil fan you are (someone who can remember playoff games against Marville 8 years ago) you know that the last time Gibbs beat Halls was the 1991 season. Now I am not good at arithmetic nor am I ambidextrous but that is less than 20 years ago. Interesting note-that game was played at Gibbs against an over confident Red Devil team. The Devils had better be ready to fight for a victory.
  10. Halls coaches told my cousin that the scrimmage was 1's in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th. 2's played only in the 2nd. If that be the case, Halls won 27-14. Either way it was an interesting scrimmage. Good luck to Carter. In their new region they should dominate.
  11. Rebelron- some things to think about A.) I wouldn't consider myself a fan of any particular high school team. My brother played for Halls for a few years. I caught a few games and am interested on how they will do this year. So I am not crying about anything. B.)Maryville wins because of players, coaches, and communuity (in that order). I am not foolish to think that one player could account for Maryville's success. But here is a question, could 2, 4, 6? How many kids (differences makers) would you need to turn a middle of the pack team into a contender? C) You need to understand that my problem is not with the Maryville High School Football team. It is with the "rule". Private schools (about 1/4 of students in Chatt. are in private schools of some sorts) and transfers are killing high school sports in my opinion. Maryville is not cheating. However if Bill Gates bought a lottery ticket and won the 242 million dollar jackpot, doesn't there seem something out of place with that? Did Bill cheat--no, it just seems not right. D) By reading between the lines, I think you called me a loser. Let me ease your mind, I have a lovely wife, a great family, and a terrific job. I am not a loser in life. There is more to it than football and this message board--not much though Good luck with your season.
  12. It seems someone is awfully touchy about a subject. I never said anything negative about Maryville. I did not bash their fans, their coaches, and certainly not their players. I merely was pointing out an unfair loop hole in the rules. I realize that parents have a right to send their kids where ever they want. I just feel that ANY school that is allowed to take transfers who plays against others that can't is unfair. Someone posted about Burnette going to Gibbs causing an uproar. I think Gibbs is a closed zone and he could not transfer in as easy as going to Maryville, Central, Knox West, etc. As the beacon of high school football, fans of Maryville should know that high school football is about playing with your friends, in your community, in front of your school. WIN-LOSE-OR-TIE. Can you honestly tell me that you will enjoy watching Burnette as much as the other qb's who grew up in the Maryville community? I guess it doesn't matter as long as you just win baby. Go Red Rebels!
  13. Remember JPaul not all kids who played for Halls supermidgets attend Halls Middle then Halls High. From what I hear, Mr. Burnette has a way of "asking" kids from other parts of the county to play for "His" super midget dynasty. To answer how a student from Halls could attend Maryville, I guess his daddy put him on the long impossible to get in here if you are an athele transfer list when he was born. After waiting 14 years, his number was lucky enough to be drawn .
  14. AE, I assume you support the roadrunners which could skew your view about the differences. AE has the great equalizer, speed, speed, and more speed. Most teams that play against schools in higher classifications run into the problem that they simply can't cover everybody. Smaller schools in general (not all) lack the depth of larger schools. Take nothing away from individual kids that play for A or AA schools. But TEAMS from smaller classifications usually fight with one hand behind their back. Even your school would have a problem playing a 5A powerhouse like Riverdale or Germantown. Their size in the line would cause serious problems for your team. Could you beat one of these teams on any given Friday? Yes, but your school is in the minority. Plus imagine what would happen if AE played in a Riverdale's or Germantown's region. The series record of the years would be in favor of the 5A schools. Just a thought
  15. Thanks for your up lifting comments rebel1978. Quite frankly I could care less about Halls, Maryville, Powell, or any other school that is involved. My comment was not to be taken as a negative attack against Maryville. Maryville has an upstanding young coach, a terrific educational system, and a community that is rabid about their football. My comment was directed at parents who think more about their kids athletic careers and less about what moving a student from his home could do. That is what is wrong with the business world today--don't like the company you work for, instead of helping rebuild, just pick up and move. We all know its about me. That's a great message to send to a 14 year old and all the kids you coached in a community. Hey kids remember when I told you we would be good if we worked hard and played for the name on the front of the jersey not the back---I meant until my son get a better deal and we move. Again I apologize if I offended the Maryville Masses. I hope (for the son's sake) he is successful and enjoys his high school career.
  16. And imagine if Burnett would have played for the school he was supposed to?
  17. yeah, imagine if adkins would have played at the school he was zoned for. He would be playing in Memphis right now

    hey Halls100

It seems that our friend Hall100 has lost his bravado. I am never one to beat a dead horse. However when young people trash teams that they themselves were a part of, that burns my grits has MsGov would say. If you are reading this Halls100 let me drop some knowledge on you. KIL (1st, 2nd, 3rd times) 100m- 11.03, 11.12, 11.13 200m- 22.67, 22.98, 23.1 400m- 49.32, 50.74, 51.27 Had you been able to run a 50 400m you would have at least finished third. Halls scored no points in the KIL. No Halls runner placed in any event. Do you even attend Halls? I am sure there is an excuse. Please, let's hear it.

    hey Halls100

50 in the 400!!! That is the funniest joke I have heard in a while One of three things happened: A. You are the athlete that won the 400 from Halls. In that case you ran a 55.9. No where close to a 50 in the 400. B. You are slower than the winner. C. You didn't race. Either way, you run your mouth to much. Maybe that's why you had limited success in football. People who have a loud mouth typically get a target on their back. You don't strike my as someone who can walk the walk.

    hey Halls100

Usually I don't comment on things that don't interest me. However since halls100 has opened himself up, I can't resist. First since you would never lie or exaggerate, I look forward to seeing you play on Saturdays. Since no one from Halls has ever ran a 4.5 forty you have to be the best athlete to ever attend there. You had to of started and are probably flooded with football scholarship offers. I hope you will tell me where you sign. Secondly, an athlete of your talent had to have won the state 100m and I don't recall anyone from Halls participating at the state meet in the 100m. Please post your results. I am sure you won and it was a simple oversight on my part. Finally, how do you get a 40 yard time at a track meet. Aren't events at a track meet in meters? I don't recall any event that is timed at 40 yards? And surely you don't want us to believe that the time you boast comes from practice??!!?? As a track phenom, you know times only count during meets with official timers. Good luck with your track season, if only in your own mind.
  21. I know nothing about the Fulton program, but I imagine the only problem they are having is polishing their ring.
  22. pete, sounds like this guy moves around alot. Wonder how long we would last at Clinton?
  23. Why did Coach Chait leave Catholic?
  24. I found it refreshing that in an era where parents, students, and fans are screaming to throw the ball every play that at least 4 of the champions this weekend ran the ball, ran the ball, and ran the ball some more. Maybe all the fans who "know" some much about football could realize that a coach who decides to commit to running the football and playing great defense may be putting his team in the best situation to win. congrats to all the state champs.
  25. This kid is terrific. I watched him at the state championship game. I can't decide what was better him waving goodbye to a hurt Mo West quarterback or him hurting his team by getting ejected from the game for throwing a punch. I hope my son can grow up to be just like him.
