  2. Brandon Burris is proving himself to be a fine golfer in Tennessee also. He probably just dosen't have the resourses to get in these high profile tournaments that Whittenburg does. Thu June 27, 2002 Tennessee Golfers Qualify for USGA Junior Memphis--Casey Wittenberg, fired a two-round total of 134 to claim the sole qualifying spot at Memphis CC for the USGA Boys Junior Championship. At Old Fort GC, Brandon Burris shot 134 to lead the qualifying. Also, qualifying for the Championship was Chris Gilliland. 06/25/02 MEMPHIS, TENN. - THE MEMPHIS CC Casey Wittenberg - Memphis, Tenn. 134 A - Bobby Hudson - Memphis, Tenn. 146 A - Michael Murphy Jr - Germantown, Tenn. 146 A - Bradley Pate - Jackson, Tenn. 148 A - Ben Glover - Paris, Tenn. 148 06/25/02 and 06/26/02 MURFREESBORO, TENN. - OLD FORT GC Brandon Burris - White House, Tenn. 134 Chris Gilliland - Chattanooga, Tenn. 139 Jeffrey Edelman - Southlake, Texas 141 A - Seth Brandon - Dalton, Ga. 141 A - Ian Hoffman - New Smyrna Beach, Fla. 141 A - Philip Pettitt Jr - Murfreesboro, Tenn. 142 A - Jonathan Mount - Kingston, Tenn. 142
  3. The best player in the world is Tiger Woods, he's proved that. Casey Whittenburg is just a very good golfer that lives in Tennessee. He has no titles. When he wins the state open or the state championship or state amature, I will agree.
  4. That still dosen't prove anything to me. He's playing in his back yard on some special exemption I'm sure. He did shoot a respectable 74 (+2), which in my opinion proves he is a very good player. He just dosen't have any title to prove he's the best player or high school player in Tennessee. I rest my case. [Edited by Duckbutterbandit on 6/29/02 9:12A] [Edited by Duckbutterbandit on 6/29/02 9:13A]

  9. Well like I said, if he doesn't compete in TN he's not the best player in TN. Loren Roberts has a state open title and Gossett won the U S amature they live in TN and are better players than Whittenburg!!! Both live in TN!!!!
  10. I would say the bes t golfer in Tn is either Loren Roberts or David Gossett!
  11. Casey Whittenburg must be a good player. He won a AJGA event in Scottsdale, AR but I haven't seen anywhere that he plays in TN. Has he won anything in TN? If he does not compete in TN in my opinion he is not the best player in TN.
  12. I just don't see Casey Whittenburg with a state champion ring like Ross has. Does he even play in TN? Ross is the AAA state champion and will try to defend his title in the fall. If this thread is about TN high school golf, I would have to give Ross my vote. Spencer Provo finished 2nd to Ross in the state tournament and will be back to challange.
  13. Today's overall quarterfinals 7:30-Painter vs. Cheatwood; 7:38-Mitch Brock vs. George; 7:46-Mansfield vs. Coles; 7:54-Harvey vs. Shorter; 8:02-Roberson vs. Glover; 8:10-Crowell vs. Miers; 8:18-Burris vs. Nelson; 8:26-Roberts vs. Gobble
  14. Congradulations to all qualifiers Greyson Painter 32-33 65; Trey Roberson 32-35 67; Brandon Burris 35-33 68; ; Brett Mansfield 33-35 68; Alex Harvey 34-35 69; Mitch Brock 34-35 69; Sam Roberts 31-38 69; Patrick Crowell 35-34 69. Aaron George 31-40 71; Tyler Gobble 37-34 71; Tyler Miers 36-35 71; Matthew Coles 37-35 72; John Nelson 33-39 72; Ben Glover 36-36 72; Scott Anderton 35-37 72; Dustin Shorter 32-40 72; Michael Fisher 38-34 72; Rhett Cheatwood 36-36 72; Shane Vinson 34-38 72; Drew Gladfelter 37-35 72; I don't agree with the amount of press the boys are getting in this tournament from the Tennessean. I'm glad the girls are getting some ink but let's get real. Who's playing the best golf?
  15. Henry Horton in Chapel Hill (4) Great course. From the tips plenty of challange. Large greens. TN has some nice state courses at reasonable rates. Only draw back, they are public and they allow people to wear anything almost.
  16. Saddle Creek in Lewisburg 3 1/2 Good greens, good layout, fairways are comming along nicely. The front and back are completely different, both are a good test. I would give a higher mark but the pro there can sometimes be a butt.
