  1. From Chattanoogan.com: TSSAA Panel Deliberating Appeal By Signal Mountain High posted October 20, 2011 Members of a TSSAA panel on Thursday were deliberating an appeal by Signal Mountain High School of a ruling that the football team must forfeit six wins this season. The deliberation came after the six-member panel heard three hours of testimony. The decision is expected to go to Signal Mountain High School Principal Dr. Tom McCullough. Those addressing the board included player Tim McClendon, who was ruled ineligible, and his mother. It was testified that he attended Brainerd High School only one day because he said he was "jumped" by several students there. School officials said they acted correctly in handling the transfer and had a "hardship" ruling from county school officials. The length of the testimony and length of deliberations point to the extenuating circumstances of this case which have not been appreciated by most posters on this board - both the haters and boosters. No matter what the outcome, I hope Tim McClendon gets to continue his academic and athletic career at the next level.
  2. I am lifelong SM resident (just shy of 60 years) and a fan of the school. I have nephews and nieces who attend. There have been a number of legendary coaches from this area: Red Etter (Central and Baylor), Pete Potter (Brainerd and McCallie), Ralph Potter (Baylor, McCallie and now Brentwood Academy), Tom Weathers (Red Bank), Bennie Monroe (Cleveland and Ooltewah), and more. Some of these men have already been enshrined in various sports (and in one case, academic) halls of fame. I don't recall any of these gentlemen having as many negative off field instances in their careers as Bill Price has had in a relatively short career. In Price's defense you might rationalize the stories as jealousy or an overly sensationalistic media but I think our school has a coach problem. The head coaching job at SM will attract the best coaching talent, many of whom combine that attribute with a strong moral compass.
  3. Traffic was compliments of the game football fans were attending - Baylor and McCallie.
  4. My compliments to Baylor's netcasting abilities 4 years ago. Baylor by 14.
  5. Make that four personal fouls
  6. Watching online. Ensworth looks very undesciplined. They have had three personal fouls among other penalities. The PFs are blatant. Not what I expected.
  7. Baylor in over 100 years of playing football has never allowed that many points to be scored against it. And they have played "up" before. Seriously spanked.
  8. If I'Tavious were the object of the sentence, would he be Me'Tavious? Grammarians want to know.
  9. I'll answer the second. Baylor has 950 acres on the beautiful TN river in the shadow of breathtaking Signal Mountain but more importantly, Baylor has girls! Baylor by 14: They'll only let the girls play in the 4th qtr.
  10. There are two teams who would love to schedule you. One is at the foot of the mountain and other is at the foot of the ridge.
  11. It'll get ugly early. Baylor by a bunch. Mercy rule could be invoked late in 3rd.
  12. Can't remember but wouldn't that be like 20+ wins in a row against CCS? There might be a tie or two in that string. Brower's comment about "outplaying McCallie" was curious. More of quote in the locker room than to the media.
  13. Took a TN wrestler to introduce real wrestling to the Peach State.
  14. Title 9 strikes again. I bet the UNCG women's soccer team just got a couple of new scholarships.
  15. With Connell, Morgan and Logsdon retiring or retired, will we see Bradley wrestling McCallie and Baylor again?
  16. Do you really believe that Morgan, Van Deusen and now Nelson ever checked in with the development office when it came time to start wrestlers? You're delusional.
  17. Anyone have the time and inclination to research the most former TN HS* wrestlers to qualify? *Check with TNKO2 who qualifies as a TN HS wrestler. Apparently, he's the arbiter of who qualifies.
  18. Thanks. Very sorry to learn of the injury but happy the kid will be back. He definitely has All American potential.
  19. So, when TJ wrestles at MD, he really won't be a MD wrestler but a GA wrestler? And if a Bradley wrestler actually once lived in Red Bank, he'll always be a Red Bank wrestler? And if a Maryville wrestler lived nearer Alcoa but wrestled for Maryville, he would alwasy be an Alcoa wrestler? I had no idea that a state or location owns the athlete. Maybe we ought to require wrestlers to list their address on their singlet as well as their school in case they get lost and need to be returned. Where ever TJ gets his mail, congratulations on 5 state championships.
  20. But one of the most important functions of the TSSAA's Board of Control is to insure as many schools and athletes get to be state champions. You know, kind of like a T-ball league.
  21. I'm sure we can slice and dice even further to insure that every participant recieves a medal - kind of like T-ball or the the TSSAA football championships.
  22. I believe most of us know that he was suspended by Eslinger before the tournaments at the end of the 2010 season. Without getting into the specifics of the suspicion (it was between Heath and Jake before his attorney and Judge Moon got into a ___ing contest in the local paper) will we see Jake wrestling for UTC or another college program again? I hope so!
