Congrats to Chris on coming home. We graduated the same year and played against each other. He was as good as they come back then but always a class act after the game. I haven't talked to him in years and I think the last time was at a Marion basketball game I was covering. He was still as friendly as ever then. Now....if someone down in Pirate land doesn't create a hype video to start the season featuring Chris and having Back in Black playing in the background us old 80s guys are going to be sorely disappointed.

I played against him back in the day. He was tough as nails but always friendly after he whipped your tail. Hopefully he'll get hired ASAP and the Pirates can continue their success. Lord knows they've worked at it all these years.

So is Chris a lock for the job? I would hope so/

I have no idea how Coach Shedd's name keeps coming up in all of this and the other thread about the BS about missing funds while he was girls' basketball coach. Please hear this.....THERE WAS NEVER ANY MISSING MONEY...NEVER! Coach Shedd did not take any money, misplace any money, hide money in mason jars or trade it for those magic beans Jack used to climb up and meet the giant. I ain't skeered.

1. Grundy schools have done nothing to recognize my kids in 2 years. 2. 6 of the 12 kids that went to nationals were Grundy kids. 3. I'm not getting in the football debate. Not my monkey. Not my circus. 4. Just wanted to make sure the CoachT world knew we do have something that wins at the school even if I can't get a meeting room in the building for anything.....yeah I said it.

I beg to differ. This is what the bass team did last year... 4 statewide tournament wins out of 7 events.First female tournament winner in a major statewide tournament.Statewide points champions. Team Kyle.6 boats qualified to BASS Nationals. Most of any school in the country and in nationals history. Team Kyle - All State Kyle Palmer - All American Kyle Ingleburger - TN Tech's first ever fishing scholarship. Kyle Palmer - Fishing Scholarship Bethel University. Of course there's those out there that think we're "just fishing" and it doesn't take any skill to do what my kids do. If that's the case then football only has skill for quarterbacks and kickers and the rest are just running around grabbing each other.....kinda like golf is just hitting a ball in a hole with a stick. Interesting school board workshop tonight. Could be some fireworks Thursday night. The majority at the workshop were there to support Casey.

Yeah I'm late to the party on this one. Indian. I'm in charge of that fundraiser. I send kids to the opposing bleachers at every game. Been doing it all 3 years we've done the grill fundraiser. And in 2015 someone from the opposing team that we played the last home game won the grill package. On a side note we're thinking about maybe doing something different like a vacation package for the fundraiser next year.... Wait...you guys were talking about football..... Have I told you about high school bass fishing?

Smith County bring some extra $$ and somebody bring a truck. We're giving away a gas grill package worth over $400 Friday night. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. Proceeds benefit the Coach Chris Pickett Scholarship Fund. Someone will win this Friday night. Please come see me between the concession stand and the Stinger Shack (clothes booth). Any of my old Smith County friends coming to this one??
