  1. I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned that Fayette's best player tore his hamstring on the first possession of the game. I wonder what would have happened in the Trinity game had Fayette played without #20 the whole way. I believe he ran for almost 200 yards against TCA so I can tell you what would have happened.
  2. Blaine Feathers-QB-Fayette Academy should definately be considered although not at QB. Probably should be listed as ATH like Bodiford was a couple years back.
  3. yes, fayette did win some championships in football and basketball back in mpsa. of course, the league is set up much differently than tssaa. i am lookin forward to seein a great game tomorrow night. good luck to both teams .
  4. AC$ is absolutely right. No players should be posting on here, ur just given buletin board material. Sorry I have been away all season but I have become very intrigued by this game and by Union City. I am sure they are a great team, but they are talkin about a team that they know nothing about. I would think that FA has become accustomed to being told that they don't belong on the same field with other teams. Oh, and by the way, everybody knows that buschman is just the fan for the better team, he was a usj fan for years and now he's a jcs fan, lol.
  5. Last Friday they did. Except his name is Blaine Feathers and he'll throw the ball a little too. Ask Lake County about it.
  6. word is that they were 3 for 3 on extra points in game 1 against st. benedict but i don't know if they are still kickin or goin back to the 2-point conv. either way, this is the next big rivalry in west tn 1A football.
  7. Recruiting is one thing, but bringing in an entire team is completely another. Ten players, that means that some recruited players didn't even get on the floor and NO returning Elliston players could play. Pretty much, he was trying to turn a consistent losing team into a winner. However, that can't happen in a single year without breaking some rules or at least some morals. How is that fair for the kids who have played for Elliston for years and all of a sudden a coach that they don't want comes in and demotes them to the bench or maybe even off the team so he can bring in half a dozen players from all over the mid-south. He did do some heavy recruiting in his one year at Rossville, bringing in pretty much an entire starting lineup. I knew some guys that played for him there and it was much like the situation at Elliston. None of the players liked or him wanted to play for him, even the recruited ones. They did finish in the Final Four of Overall state under him, but it wasn't because of his coaching at all. MPSA is a very weak league compared to TSSAA and elite athletes can dominate even with poor coaching. In my opinion, Coach Askew is gonna have to make some serious changes within himself before he can be a good coach. A new school every year just isn't going to cut it. Maybe he should decide to start building programs the right way, with hard work and discipline, rather than trying to recruit athletes who are only there to play basketball and won't be there after the season.
  8. Your exactly right about them needing to work harder to get Wilson the ball. They have done a pretty good job of it so far this year because going in to that Benedict game Wilson was averaging 22 points a game. Moving Cox to guard was a good move because he is long and can feed the post better than there other guards. The main problem against Benedict was that they couldn't get the ball up the floor and after that they were so out of control that whoever had the ball just threw it up. The point I was trying to make is that Scotts Hill, Trinity, Madison, and probably USJ will not be able to give the same pressure as St. Benedict. JCS is probably the only team that can give pressure remotely close to St. Benedict. I don't think you are taking into account just how much better St. Benedict is than the majority of the teams in this region.
  9. Well I am assuming you were at the St. Benedict game considering that the Vikings other games were a close loss to Lausanne and a win over SBEC. Granted, Benedict absolutely dominated that game and had complete control the entire time. That was only because of one factor though, the press. Fayette Academy simply couldn't handle it. However, they won't play anyone the rest of the year with a press as effective as Benedicts. Look at the third quarter for instance, St. Benedict took the press off to start the third quarter but still had their starters in the game. I think they took off the press, one because they were up by a lil over 20 at that point, and two because Corzine wanted to work on his half court defense which they hardly got to do in the first half considering that FA wasn't getting it that far. Anyways, what happened was Wilson scored on five straight posessions for the Vikings and Benedict went right back to pressing again. I am not tryin to say that FA can play with Benedict. I am saying that Benedict is an extremely good team and would win FA's district I believe, may struggle with JCS, but I think with both teams healthy SBA is better. Furthermore, the only teams in the district that will try and press FA is probably gonna be JCS, Middleton, and Adamsville. After that, I don't think any of the other teams are athletic enough to. So you are saying that Benedict couldn't stop Wilson in the half court but Madison and Scotts Hill can. I think you are just really unfamiliar with the rest of the teams in this district. Good luck to the Eagles, I am hoping to come and see some more of your games this year.
  10. The Coaches Rankings came out for this District and they go as follows: 1. JCS 2. Middleton 3. Adamsville 4. Madison 5. USJ 6. Scotts Hill 7. Trinity 8. Fayette Academy Everyone knows that I think they are a little off on one team, but everyone else let me know what you think.
  11. Christian Brothers 67 Chester County 27 on Saturday night. Christian Brothers is pretty good this year but it will be a long year for Chester County.
  12. I was about to say, the Lighthouse in West Tennessee isn't very good at all. I thought thats who they were talkin about.

    DCA @ USJ

I think that any team that plays in the state semifinals probably has the hearts of lions so I don't understand how somebody can say that their team plays harder than the other teams in the state. USJ is a very solid team and does play very hard, but by this point in the season every team is solid. It just comes down to which one plays better on that night. I think USJ will struggle stopping DCA's running game.
  14. I think Fayette Academy should be considered in the teams battling for the top 4. The Vikings have an athletic frontline with experience in 6'3" senior Clint Cox, 6'3" senior Ryan Bush, and 6'6" senior Blake Wilson. If their backcourt shows up and can get the ball to their big men, then Fayette could surprise some people.
  15. Updated rankings as of news of Josh Irvin transfer: 1. JCS- Reportedly replaced Irvin with someone even better and therefore should be OK. 2. Middleton- Uneffected by transfer. They are still much better than Madison. 3. Adamsville- Uneffected by transfer. Although they could struggle defending Irvin. 4. Fayette Academy- Uneffected by transfer. Their big men are too good to let it effect them. 5. Madison Academic- Rose from 7th to 5th by picking up one of the best players in the District. 6. USJ- Remained 6th just because I can't bring myself to honestly believe that the Bruins could finish next to last in anything. 7. Trinity- Fell from 5th to 7th because they are no longer as good as Madison and I can't imagine USJ 7th. 8. Scotts Hill- Uneffected by transfer.
