  1. On paper, this game looks like a mismatch. Greenback is 3-0 and is on a roll, while Coalfield is 2-1. The Cherokees have loads of talent and from reports are healthy. On the other hand, Coalfield has lost three starters, including an all-state player, to ACL injury. Four of their top five running backs are either done for the season, out for a few weeks, or playing with injury. A starting lineman has been lost for the season, so Coalfield has been trying to figure out a different lineup each week. Add to the fact that play the toughest Class 1A schedule in the state makes for a tough road. However, Coalfield coach Keith Henry and his staff will continue to keep working hard to make sure the team is at their best as the season progresses and will be a tough battle come playoff time.
  2. I'm proud of what Oakdale accomplished last night. A lot of hard work, sweat, tears and blood have been poured into the Oakdale football program by the coaches, players and supporters to help them achieve a signature win for Coach Voyles. It is always great to see the small schools and the underdog have success. Oakdale will be a team to contend with in District 4A this season and will make the playoffs for the first time since 1996.
  3. Runstopper 32, I really appreciate those kind words. My website is up and running and I encourage everybody to check it out and help spread the word. I can say without a doubt that I have made a point to recognize all the kids at Oakdale, Wartburg, Coalfield and Sunbright (Petros-Joyner too) during my time with the newspapers.
  4. Thanks Rudy for the plug. I would appreciate you helping spread the word about the website which is set to be up next week.
  5. Thanks for those kind words SCW86. I have to say I have missed doing the sports too, but I'm back doing what I love to do. You can find me on www.morgancountymedia.com starting next week. I'm still doing my pre game show Fridays at 6:30 on WECO and I have plans to start a paper in the coming weeks. As for working lately, it has been 6 months and two days since I was fired at Morgan County News, but I have done a little umpiring, some writing work on the side and a couple of odds and ends jobs. The main thing is that my faith in God has gotten stronger during this time and I've had a lot of precious time with my two-year old daughter.
  6. I'm still waiting on your credentials. All you have posted is your opinion. Nothing less, nothing more. I'm assuming since you have had time to critique film of this kid that you pretty much say can't even line up right, that your "job" isn't too demanding and is pretty slow.
  7. 12timechamp I wonder what 1AA team you formerly coached at. I have no dog in the fight, have never seen the kid play, don't know his daddy, and so on, but just a casual reader on these boards and it appears you have an axe to grind with a high school kid. Let's hear of your coaching resume.
  8. Farmboy, you are sounding like a sour grapes person. There were some remarks said both ways between fans last week that I'm sure they wish they could take back. Coalfield had a couple of players ejected in the game and rightfully so. South Pittsburg had a player ejected and rightfully so.
  9. I hope Roy at least has a fun trip. Just don't do like FSU QB Winston did and let your teammates (friends) peak in on you and Danny, I mean Wendy, while you are showing him, I mean her, your Murphy Fair Book and his pole. Everybody have a safe trip home. Congrats to both UC and SP on great seasons.
  10. Athletes: Even. Discipline: Union City Coaching: Union City Train Conductor: Union City Train Tracks: South Pittsburg
  11. Nope not interested in 2 year old stories. I want the fresh news such as who did the Pirates fight in the preseason? South Pittsburg posters have already harped on the fact that the players don't have discipline, and those that were at the game Friday night got to see first hand how the Pirates conduct themselves.
