Tough night for the Owls, but I'm sure they will regroup and get better as the season progresses.
-
Can the Owls repeat last years upset victory over the Tigers of Batesville? The tape I've seen of both makes it seem unlikely, but I think MUS can make it a game if they execute in typical fashion and catch a few breaks.

Arlington vs Frayser
Bartlett vs Brighton
CBHS vs GTown
Houston vs Bolton
Ridgeway vs White Station
Whitehaven vs Fairley 28+

10 for 10 this week. The Melrose score was a shocker though.

TD Alcoa.
-
4th down and 5 yards to go for Alcoa, 2 minutes to go, play of the game.
-
Is it still 24-21 Rebels? Need a update and what quarter are they in?
Maryville 31 Alcoa 28 with under 4 minutes in the game.

Is this really the football you all brag about??
Please tell us this superior team you support.

Great game, big plays all over the field.

Good game thus far, but that last drive smelled a little of home cooking.

Speaking of all time wins, it looks as if Ken Netherland(St. Georges) will pass Carlton Flatt(Brentwood Academy) in coaching wins at some point this season. Last weeks win gives coach Netherland 350 victories, coach Flatt has the Tennessee record with 354.

It is my impression (i'm not trying to be argumentative) that once a team decides not to run up the score on you, both sides give reps to the younger kids. i know Kingsbury didnt have enough people to go 3rd string, but they could have gone to the 2nd string. Instead they tried to beat up on our younger guys. Not only that but actually talk junk to them on the feild. the first string was asking to go in, to remind them of the first half
-and BAVol- i do not know how it seemed, but trust me, that was not the situation. The coaching staff didnt have time to go to chili's do to the fact they left the facility close to midnight after reviewing the film for the team film session at 9 a.m Saturday morning
So are you saying that the Brentwood Academy Eagles would quit trying to win a game if the other team pulled its starters?
-
It was 41-0 at half. it was over. The lack of emotion was due to the fact that the intense game that it was in the 1st half, turned into a coaching oppurtunity for the younger kids. The first couple of series was delegated to the 2nd string, which actually scored, and then the playing time trickled down to the third and fourth string players. Kingsbury left their 1's in the entire time. I beleive what coach potter did took character and lack of pride. instead of pulling the younger kids when the began to score, he let them play through adversity. And the only 1's that went in for BA at the end of the game was the hands team which accomplished their job without failure. it was classless for kingsbury to keep their 1's in, when someone gives you mercy, you should take it.
Hopefully that was a clumsy attempt at being facetious.

Bump....update please?
Not sure if he started, but he did get in some meaningful snaps for the Owls today.

Does anyone have the Melrose vs Olive Branch score?

To bad we dont know who the best team in the state is. the private school or the small school. I guess 1 ring +$$$ > 6 straight rings(7 this decade). hmmm
It's a big secret. Only thing is, everyone in the country knows except you. Hmmmm...
guess not, but what I do know is MUS and Alcoa both went 15-0 and both won state. What I dont know is how you can claim to be the best in the state when you didnt play either of the perennial powers in Tennessee, the F5 and maryville. Everybody knows that west tn is the weakest of the 3 sections of the state. it took maryville like 3 undefeated years in a row to crack the top 25 and Alcoa 6 championships in a row to get in top 50. the rankings always favor the privale schools. just something we have to deal with i guess.
MUS is ranked higher in the national polls because they beat South Panola, Olive Branch and the White Station team that ran all over Maryville. I say MUS is the better team because I have watched both teams play this season, and believe the Owls have a far more effective scheme, and execute with greater efficiency in all phases of the game.

To stand out Sense Brunetti is gone?
A friend of mine lives in Memphis and told me about Michael Johnson 6'6" 195 lbs.
Source told me this ->(Threw over 300 yards and and scored 4 Td's against Father Ryan)
Ive heard of Jacob Huesman not sure if he is a Junior or not
Last the BA Quarterback - not sure of his name
Have yall heard of these Guys? Thoughts?
When Johnson heads to camps this summer his stock should rise considerably, looks similar to Tyler Bray.
Some Highlights

Wonder what ever happened to bigvalvenus? He sure was a big MUS fan that posted on here a lot leading up to the playoffs. His "absence" is apparent.
I think he might have taken a "Coach"ing position.

MUS could be a powerhouse, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. The last two years they've been led by probably the best quarterback in the state, who they're losing, and they're losing most of their team this year. Let's see if they can reload next year, and then judge.
MUS has won 4 out of the last 6 championships, I would say they are there. The Owls lost 10 of 11 defensive starters last year and still IMO, had the best defense in Div II. MUS played half the year without McBride(beating Olive Branch and South Panola) and beat 6A champion White Station without Barry Brunetti. I doubt another undefeated season will happen with SP on the schedule, but I don't see the Owls dropping off by a huge margin.

Whitehaven vs. Smyrna
in Class 5A & Class 6A
Posted · Edited by BigSneaky
Neely's, Corky's and Rendezvous are for tourists. I would suggest Cozy Corner, Payne's, Tom's, G-town Commissary and Central BBQ.
As for the football, I think Smyrna wins by a point or two.
