my worry is this. if scooter & carson don't play, what will the secondary look like? i think they can survive on offense however. in my opinion, we should leave pewitt at fs; put shiverdecker at db, and let brown stay with lamon. brown has good speed and has a nice vertical jump. did you see his two ints, especially the last one. man, they were sweet. as for the outside linebacker, we should start hoover and allow clabo to rotate. as for the depth in the secondary, we can't afford to take out brown for one series. if we do, lamon will burn us. however, we can use acuff to give relief to shiverdecker and pewitt. brown will just have to turn up his stamia. on offense, when can use shiverdecker, huskey, & houseal. in this game, meadows needs to let jennings have more rest on offense; houseal will do just fine in giving him a break. as crazy as this sounds, jennings should not touch the ball no more than 10-12 times on offense. he will need to give his best effort in his entire highs school career. shiverdecker and huskey can share equal playing time. bubble and slip screens to houseal and huskey will work well. in short, if houston & carson are suspended, jennings, brown, vickers, & reliford will have to have a great game for jeff to win. with houston & carson, jeff 41-14. without them DB wins 24-21. however, if the four players on defense that i mentioned have a great game, jeff wins 21-10.

bud, just a couple of days ago you said jeff should be the favorite, by 3. what's the change? oh, skunk, whose sons play at DB, believes jeff will win. doesn't sound like all DB fans are as confident as you are. if DB wins, it wont be by no more than 7. scooter & jennings remember how they beat the heck out of DB when they were freshman (30-0). they are hungry to do this again as seniors. freshman games really don't mean squat most of the time. but they can if the players stay together and get better with each year. jeff is going to win.

that's pretty freaking good against one of the best defenses in the state. oh, how many yards did the trojans have?

honestly, it's all trash talk, nothing more, nothing less. anyways, i think west has an awesome defense. that's not only from me. most all of the coaches in east tn aggree that west has the best defense, and were able to run the ball effectively on them and threw the ball well too when it was necessary. our defense is getting better with each game. i don't believe DB can score more than 28 on us. however, if we don't have our big playmaker (scooter) then i don't see us scoring more than 21. we might still win without scooter, but if we do we will have to put a lot of pressure on DB's qb.

senior linemen last year; scooter, jennings, clement, carson, and brown were jr's, moron. we have quick, strong jr linemen this that will knock DB's linemen's heads off. we did it against west, and their defense is the best in east tn. your defense is no where as good as theirs. that's a fact.

DB got whipped bad morr. west in a pre-season scrimmage. i know it was just a scrimmage. but all morristown fans that have seen DB believe that jeff is a 2-3 td better team. anyways, if scooter & carson don't play, it will be hard for jeff to win. but that's ok because they will have to beat us again, and that wont happen. anyways, i hate DB with an intense, almost evil passion. do you understand that wacojaco. i hate DB with my soul.

in the game last night between jeff & west, #98 from west started shoving scooter and carson at the end of the game. both carson and scooter got in #98's face after this. the refs threw all 3 players out. there were only about 17 seconds left in the game, with all jeff having to do is down the ball. meadows from jeff co says he is going to appeal it. he has it on tape. do you think he has a good chance. this would really be a severe blow to jeff. they have waited so long to beat DB. they are a much better team than DB but a lot of that has to do with scooter and carson. what do you think?

By: Brian Trent, Tribune Sports Writer September 12, 2003 Will Jeff Jennings (left) and the Jefferson County Patriots run wild against the Trojans of Morristown West tonight? The burning question among my colleagues and friends the past seven days is whom am I going to take between Morristown West and Jefferson County in this very column? There are several variables that weigh into my selection. First off, I graduated from West in the spring of 1989 (during the late Jack O. Pemberton tenure as principal and the Dale Chrisman era as head coach) and each year, the two games I wanted the Trojans to win more than anything was the ones with Morristown East and Jefferson County. West split the four games with the 'Canes during my high school days but lost all four to the squad from Dumplin Valley. The one I remember the most is the 36-28 loss at Burke-Toney Stadium in 1986. Late in the game, a Trojan punt was rolling down the field and was about to be downed. In came the Patriots' Kenny Mattison to sweep the ball off the ground and take off down the sidelines for a game-winning touchdown. That was then, this is now. I've had the opportunity to cover Jefferson County the past several seasons and have been treated with much respect by second-year head coach Scott Meadows and his staff. My disdain for Patriot football, dating back to the mid 1980s, has been washed away. So, onto my choice for tonight's encounter. Jefferson County (2-0) has a high-powered offensive attack, led by the one-two punch of senior running backs Scooter Houston and Jeff Jennings. The Trojans' defense is one of, if not the, best that East Tennessee has to offer. Led by All-State defensive end Brandon 'Pee-Wee' Fanney, West (1-1) has given up a mere 16 points and 344 yards in total offense the first two games of the season. If the game is low scoring, I believe that the Trojans have the advantage. If the game turns into a high-scoring shootout, the Patriots have more weapons to choose from. Normally, my pick would come right now. However, I'm going to wait until the end of this column to release my choice.

well, we just beat west. and all the west fans that i talked to that seen DB & west scrimmage said that jeff is a lot better than DB.
