  1. Croz, not just the 197 rushing yards. How do you explain kicking from SC's 45 to him?? The near 100 yard return and at least one reception for 20 yards or so were evidence of how good a player he is.
  2. Everybody is doing a lot of talking about records. The Firebird's have won games against teams with a combined record of 21-29 (42%). The Owls 46-54 (46%). Not too much difference. The teams that Pearl Cohn has played are probably better as a whole, but several of those teams would be considered down a little by their own standards this season. Pearl Cohn is a good football team and I think they will come in here and play well. I still think the Owls execute a tad better and WIN. Go Big Owls!!!!
  3. Smith County's opponents won 46% of their games. Pearl Cohn's opponents won 53% of their games. The results aren't that dissimilar. I think the Firebird's schedule was tough, for sure, but out of the teams they played, several of them would be considered to be down, by their standards. MBA at 5-5???? Cmon now. PC lost a several close ones. SC will win this game. All you Gville fans, that love to ride every other team that can beat SC, can take your tails somewhere else Friday night. I know that if you do come, you'll sit on the visitor side and ride the Firebirds. They are a good team. Probably the best 8 seed in the playoffs. Gotta beat them all anyway.
  4. I see what you mean, FIREBIRD. The game 2 years ago was a defensive gem. With the only TD in the game coming on a trick play from SC. Last year's game was a 2 score game at the half and PC got the snowball rolling downhill in the 2nd half. SC had no answer. The Owls are definitely better than they were last year. Is PC as good?? That's the question I'm not sure the answer to.
  5. Pearl Cohn is a good team, without doubt. I think the game will resemble the contest 2 years ago much more than last years games. There are things that favor Smith County in this contest that I think, at the final horn Friday, will have the Owls the victor again. Will it be easy?? No way. CPA, in my opinion, should not have had to rely on a late FG block and favor from Pearl Cohn to win. Again, just my opinion. The Firebirds will pose some problems athletically. Smith County has a bit of ability, as well. For a small and slow country school, that is.
  6. Great high school football game that was exciting till the end. Execution on both sides left a lot to be desired. May have been a testament to how good both teams are. Not real sure?? Should be a good game next week in the Hole. Pearl Cohn knows how to get here!!
  7. Way to bounce back Blue Devils! Good luck in the second season!
  8. And I hope the Owls remember the actions and comments from former coach of 2 years ago and place a memorable thrashing on the Dragons. Tune up for the playoffs.
  9. What a ya say, let's pray at both goalposts and take back the mountain? Go BIG OWLS!
  10. There are those in every crowd. I thought the OC called a decent game. Stuck with the run game that was very successful at times. Took several shots downdfield, that fortunately for SC, were just misses. WH also had a few drops in crucial situations. The OC can't catch them. The Blue Devils could be a hard out should they win this week and make it in. Best of luck from Big Owl Country.
  11. SC looks great on TV!!! Pretty dang good execution on the Owls part for this one. Hope the TV crew had a great time and come back to showcase our Owls again soon.
  12. Exactly! On the 50!!!! Fixin to get get bundled up and head over for all the evening festivities!!!! Let's GO BIG OWLS!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Football weather!! Biggest game tonight in a long time. Can't wait!!! GO BIG OWLS!!!!
  14. The only bad thing about the mercy rule is the snaps taken away from the young ones. Teams that manage the quick time well, have an advantage in developing depth. I've seen the SC staff orchestrate what looked like a Chinese fire drill in the 2nd half of some games in the past to get a lot of kids game reps. That is fun to watch. 6 on, 6 off. It's easy, right???? LOL
