  1. Being a keeper is all mental. It takes a lot of heart and courage to step on that field and be the last line of defense. If a forward makes a mistake they have many girls behind them to clean up their mess. Unfortunately as a goalkeeper you make a mistake you end up being scored on. No keeper is perfect. I have never heard of a keeper who has not gotten scored on here or there. You cannot go forward until you put it behind you. I was not at the game and truly wish I was but from what it sounds like the keeper was not at fault. But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Someone commented on another thread about my record so far this season here at Mississippi State. It is not a good record and my stats are not clean. I am a freshman and I will make my mistakes. The two keepers at Franklin are both young and with experience they will develop. Encouragement is all that is asked. Good luck to both the keepers as well as Franklin. I miss the atmosphere out at Cheek! I hope to hear good news about the team in the next few weeks. GO LADY REBELS!!! Taryn Holland
  2. Who ended up winning and how well did both teams play?
  3. I wanted to make sure everyone knew how ridiculous it sounded. I felt I needed to comment back on your earlier statement "Are you sure that he didnt do it?" So now it is in the past and thank you so much for clearing that up for me. I did not realize I "brought it back up." Silly me.
  4. It is one thing to compare Franklin and Brentwood and bring up the winning achievements of both teams. We are not going to bringing up rumors of the past. What coach in their right mind would elbow a player of the opposing team? From my point of view it sounds ridiculous and I think that this subject should be put to rest just as quickly as it got started. I play for Franklin and many of you already know my sn through the soccer message board. I have played for him for three years and he has respect for any player that goes out on that court and gives it their all. Let's leave the past in the past shall we? Congratulations to Brentwood for the winning streak over the years. The fact of the matter is that this is a new season 05/06. They started this message board to predict who would win the game last night. Brentwood had a good game! With a team like that getting down by 10 pts. it is hard to catch back up. I'm not saying it is impossible, but it is not easy. Last night Franklin was missing a starter due to injury (Casey Adams). Is that why Franklin lost the game, no. She is a huge asset to the team and adjusting to a different point guard is difficult. The fact that she was a freshman had something to do with it as well. Lucy Brient is a terrific player and I love to play with her. She is a young player put out on the court with a bunch of old, experienced players. She played well but Casey is a senior with many games under her belt. I believe Casey has a bit of an advantage. We did not start off strong last night. A few mistakes here and there can hurt the team. Good shots not going in don’t help either. All in all.... it wasn’t our night. I don’t make excuses. We couldn’t put the plays together to come out with a W. No one persons fault. Great game Brentwood and we will see you in the tournament. Good luck the rest of the season.
  5. Final score Franklin 61 and McGavock 51. Close game the whole way through.
  6. If you are on the side of the gym where the players sit and look to your right where everyone saw the Rebel Flag painted on the wall, that is where our flag used to hang. Out of habit everyone turned that way and by no means were saluting the Rebel Flag. I am sorry if you misunderstood and I am sorry that we did not have a flag up at the time. As a player it would have been nice to have something to look at. Tonight we played Independence (2nd home game) and the color guard WAS there. It is our last home game at Franklin till after Christmas. The gym is being taken over for 3 weeks for painting. I am sorry for the misunderstanding. I believe Franklin High still holds respect from other schools.
  7. Franklin High School will have their gym painted starting on Saturday. They had their banners and flags removed to prepare for their gym to be painted. It will take three weeks to have the gym painted and then the flags and banners will be placed back in the gym.
  8. Well thats a given!!! Thanks for that input on whoever scores the most wins. I thought whoever played the hardest no matter what the score at the end wins. hmm.. guess i was wrong. ibreakthelaw is right, whoever goes out there and gets it done wins.
  9. Oh wait were you talking to me? I'm am just telling you what helped for me. Thank you for your wise opinions though. You amaze me at how much you know! Where do you get all your information ob1? When you talk about college coaches coming to high school games... well that is very rare, especially big colleges. The small ones... sure they probably come. Thats awesome for those girls they are looking at. Thanks for the information though!
  10. A great way to be seen is not in high school or necessarily ODP. I think travel soccer gives you an edge over those keepers who don't play. You are seen more often and playing at high levels in travel shows them what you've got. This last year I went to ODP for the first time and found that they knew most of the keepers already there and I had little chance to be seen. I just think travel is the way to go when looking into soccer for a future career or just to get into a great college. I agree with saying that Tessa is a great keeper. She has got the potential to be top notch and if she continues to play with all her heart as I've seen her play she will be unstoppable. Height helps but when you are all about soccer and just love the sport and go out on that field to win then you are just at a different level than other keepers. I was truly amazed this year watching her play. Tessa has received many compliments that are well deserved. I will be anxious to see how she does in State and I am behind her 100%. Good look girlfriend and to the rest of your team!
  11. The coach that I had this conversation with tonight was not a Franklin coach. Just wanted to make that clear if there was any confusion.
  12. I talked to a coach tonight and even discussed this topic. He said that it is up to her to change the way she plays and talks. Unless you would like to go up to this player and talk to her face to face let's leave this conversation off the message boards. It is of no concern to many people on here and you talking back about her on here to where a lot of people can read it is just as bad as her talking trash on the field. Let's show respect to each individual player and back off from this topic and not discuss it again. Season is over for us which is bad enough. Let's not make it worse for anyone else by talking bad about individuals or teams. Show some respect please. Again I say, GO Williamson County Soccer!!! We are all praying and cheering for you!
  13. I believe we all know who is being discussed right now. Whether this conversation should continue I will leave up to you. Being a senior on the Franklin team I would like to consider most of our players very classy with a lot of sportsmanship. I'm not afraid to voice my opinion on this matter. The player who is being marked as a so called "dirty" player has had some questionable actions but I am on her side throughout everything. I was at every game, I saw every play, and I heard everything that was said. Was it right for her to say some of the things she said, no. Do a lot of players do it, yes. Now, I am not saying just because others do it she or anyone else for that matter has the right to talk trash. Let me tell you this much, when things are said and are passed around the words get changed up a bit. When I step onto that field with the rest of the team I expect complete focus and dedication to go out there and get the job done. I think over the past four years I have played for the Lady Rebels we have earned our respect on the field. I show respect to each team I play and ask for as much respect back. We're out there to play the game and it is an event to be enjoyed. In the heat of the moment things are said. I have found myself saying things as well whether i meant them or not. I think the talk of players on my team needs to stop as of now. You're aloud to say what you wish but the things that are said on CoachT are not going to change the way a player plays. You might make her think about it a little more but the probability that what she does change is slim to none. We had a great year with downfalls here and there but our team has earned the respect and I ask for it now by asking each of you to stop the gossip and let the past be in the past. Great season Franklin and I love you all to death. Also, good luck to the upcoming seniors. I pray for the best for our Williamson County teams going to state. I look forward to next year and coming back to enjoy some great and exciting games. Good luck Centennial and Brentwood the rest of the year and I will see you on the basketball court.
  14. Great game Rebels and I am goin to miss playin with all of you next year!!! Good job Brentwood! Good luck in the finals.
