  1. Red Bank had a Freshman girl last year that went to state, I dont know how she did or how she is doing this year though.
  2. 45-46 feet is a pretty good throw, to garantee a spot at state you need like 47-49 depending what region youre in. The lowest place at state in AAA was 43 from Tullahoma but he was throwing it farther than that at regionals. A good throw involves mostly quickness across the circle, explosive power out of the power position, and torque from your hips. Bench has almost nothing to do with it. I benched 315 as a sophmore before I quit working out, now I bench considerably less but consistantly throw 3 or 4 feet further, just because my technique is better. I mean obviously a stronger guy is going to be able to throw it further than somebody who benches 50 pounds but after you get to a certain level of strength it really makes little difference.

  5. 103: Coleman dec. Dunning,D1-3 D2-0 112: Tike Gooden dec. Hiller,D1-6 D2-0 * 119: Leen dec. James,D1-9 D2-3 would be a closer rematch and one i'd love to see again. 125: Bird dec. Silberman,D1-12 D2-3 130: Dunning dec. Bosken,D1-12 D2-6 135: Lane dec. Manley,D1-15 D2-6 140: Creagan dec. Blair,D1-18 D2-6 145: Scott maj. McKinney,D1-18 D2-10 152: Connel dec. Catlett,D1-18 D2-13 160: Gibson dec. McTorry,D1-21 D2-13 171: Jones dec. Marable,D1-24 D2-13 189: Freel dec. Greenwood,D1-27 D2-13 215: Evans dec. Thornhill,D1-30 D2-13 HWT: Crosby p. Cooper,D1-36 D2-13 OK just my opinion, albeit a biased one, I havent kept much of a tab on D2 and everybody knows that any wrestler can just get stuck against any worthy opponent. A lot of these matches would be close ones most probably going into overtime. *Again very biased here but I am from Red Bank and think Tike could have won this tourney, he just made a big mistake by (I think) not taking the Maplewood kid seriously. I dont know a lot about DII especially in the lower weights so as to whether or not he could beat Hiller: Tikes a friend and teammate so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. 6. So are you making the point that regions 3 and 4 should have more teams or just showing which regions fared the best?
  7. What about Bosken beating Jake West and Willie Furmon? Both of those would have to be seen as major upsets.
  8. OK while were making cases for outstanding wrestlers why not Danny Coleman of Cleveland? Not that Quinn Gibson doesnt deserve it but Danny also pinned in the finals. Nobody could touch him and the kid's just a sophmore. Why not the two somewhat "dark horse" champions Evans and Bosken. Everybody knew they were good coming in but i dont think anybody expected them to win the whole thing. Bosken upset not one but 2 great wrestlers that many expected to be in the finals before the brackets came out and they couldnt. Then Kyle James appeared to have little trouble with a 2 time state champ. Daniel Crosby had a little trouble in the finals but hes won about 110 matches in a row...You could make a case for almost any of the champs because theyre all Outstanding Wrestlers.
  9. It hasnt been decided yet, as far as I know. I'm sure coach Brown will tell us when somebody has been picked. [Edited by pbp1185 on 2-19-03 7:19A]
  10. Anthoy Evans came out of nowhere and won the 215 pound division, upsetting Josh Bonham in the quarter finals I believe. Evans deserved it though, he wrestled some great matches and at times even had to overcome some screwing from the zebras. Congrats.

    highest maxes

I think that the number of 600 squats on this post is rediculous maybe up to 10 guys in the state have squats over 600. I know its possible for a high Schooler to do it though especially with todays performance enhancers. Our coach went to Masilon High School in Ohio and he has a recent film from inside their weight room (he wanted to show us what our weight room is supposed to look like soon.) they had a record board and their record squat was from like '99 an offensive lineman squatted somewhere around 600. I think the guys in the NFL now though I'll watch the film again and post again when i find out the specs. This is no biased opinion, I dont care about Masilon it's just something I saw on the film. 600 is a great achievment congrats to anybody who gets their.

Can Josh Pennington beat Daniel Crosby? [Edited by pbp1185 on 2-13-03 9:01P]
  13. This is looking more and more like the match of the decade. Cordell probably has the advantage in speed but James has got more strength, and both are great technical wrestlers. This match could go either way.
  14. Kyle James should definately be in the finals, but I think Shawn Cordell should give him a tough match and definately has a good chance of winning.
  15. Is there any weight where everybody knows with very little doubt who the champ will be? There are a lot of weights where the finals are somewhat easily predicted (119, 130 etc.) and at least 135 will be a great weight to watch w/ 6 or 7 wrestlers capable of placing but is there any weight class where one guy simply kills everybody? (Crosby-275 maybe?)
