  1. That's a great story!! Never seen that at our yard....
  2. DugoutDad

    District 3 AAA

My understanding is Powell will host Bearden (D4AAA runner-up) and Farragut (D4AAA Champ) will host Karns (D3AAA runner-up). Both games Monday, 5/12/14.
  3. Farragut's double-header with TC Roberson on 4/19/14 was rained out, and will not be re-scheduled. Thanks!
  4. The great thing about HS baseball is its unpredictability. Both games went exactly opposite conventional thinking. Bearden run-ruled HVA, which one would say was unexpected. I didn't see it, so can't really speak to it. I watched the Farragut-Halls game, and it was a nail-biter. FHS scored 2 in the 3rd, I believe, then 3 more in the 5th. Halls scored single runs in the 4th and 5th, then 2 more via a 6th inning homer. The Admirals loaded the bases in the B6, but couldn't push any insurance runs across. Give credit to Coach Polston and Halls - they played tough, scrappy baseball. They didn't hurt themselves, and Painter pitched a really good game. Probably good enough to win against most teams. They represented D3AAA extremely well.
  5. Congrats to both Bearden and Farragut for advancing to the Region 2AAA Championship!! It ought to be a much closer game than last week's District final, which the Admirals won. The Admirals have been getting the timely hits needed to advance in postseason. Bearden showed great competitiveness to fight back out of the loser's bracket to gain the Region berth. The game tonight will be at 6:30 at the Ballpark at Farragut. The game will be broadcast on WUCP-LP FM99.9 and WUCPLP.com (streaming audio). It can also be heard on smartphone and iPAD apps Tune-in Radio and HiDef Radio.
  6. Received regular text updates from a FHS parent at the Farragut-Clarksville game. Pfeifer scattered 5 singles, but FHS made their 4 1st-inning runs stand up. Win 4-0.
  7. DL, I think the soonest I can get to the 'Boro is Thursday. Hopefully Farragut can hang on until then. If I can, I'll swing by the Reservation and give you shout -- I'm staying with family over in Eagleville (congrats to the Eagles for making to the Big Show!!), so Riverdale is pretty much on my way up to Siegel. One of these days, we'll get you guys back to Knoxville, and we can return all the splendid hospitality. Everyone that's playing at Riverdale is in for a *REAL* treat!! David and all the folks at Riverdale are wonderful hosts!!
  8. Hey Dave, What are the field conditions like down your way? We've seen all the flood pix and were just wondering if it has affected tourney scheduling. Hope to see you in a couple of weeks in the 'Boro!!
  9. Farragut defeated West on Monday 12-2. Nick Williams pitched the Admirals to victory. Tonight, the Ads traveled to scenic Heritage to play the Mountaineers. With the wind blowing out, the Ads came away with another victory. Pfeiffer pitched the 5-inning affair, winning 18-2, I believe. The Mountaineers got both runs via HRs vs. Pfeiffer. Ethan Bennett had the big blow for the Ads, with a grand slam.
  10. Farragut's Pfeifer carried a no-hitter into the 5th, and was replaced by Mac Thoreson after a couple of walks. Thoreson finished for the save, allowing an RBI infield out in the bottom of the 7th. According to my sources, Curt Powell made a major-league play on that infield grounder to keep Collierville from starting a big rally. Ethan Bennett crushed a 3-run HR to left center that probably carried close to 390 feet, for all the runs the Admirals would need. I understand Farragut plays Blackman Wednesday at 12:30 at Oakland. Congrats to the Admirals!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  11. Of course things may have changed, but at least in the past, the D4AAA tournament has played this way: The #1 seed has played the 8 seed and hosted the 4 and 5 seeds. The #2 seed plays the 7 seed, and hosts the 3 and 6. Winners play out of those "pools" in a double-elimination fashion to a championship. District finalists advance to the next week's region tournament. The district champion will host the D3 runner-up, and the D4 runner-up will travel to the D3 champion.
  12. Couldn't agree more, old friend!! These weekend tournaments are the closest thing to the state tournament atmosphere and pace; more so than the regular season. All of what DL says is true: more ABs, more pitchers gaining experience, more "team building." I'm sorry we didn't have more of a chance to visit. At this point, if the Admirals return to MBoro, I'm planning to come down. Plus, I'll be down there for older son's wedding last April weekend. Might just look you up - and claim my Warrior Classic t-shirt. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  13. Thanks to all the teams that participated in this year's edition of the SportsBelle Classic tournament. It was a great weekend, in spite of Thursday's rain, and Friday's cold, and ended on a glorious spring Saturday. We certainly enjoyed hosting everyone out at Farragut, and hope everyone had a good time. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. I think Bearden defeated McCallie to advance to the Championship game to face Farragut. Anyone have an update on that one?
  15. Just a word of thanks to our good friend, David Limbaugh, for his diligence and work to keep us all informed on the schedule changes for the Warrior Classic. Several of us have lived through that when the weather wreaks havoc with a tournament involving so many teams. I understand a pretty rough squall line came through this evening and pretty much washed out the night games. Tough --- but that's baseball. Hats off to the fine folks at Riverdale and all the field sites for their hard work to make the Warrrior Classic a really great tournament!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
