  1. I belive Middle Tennessee will claim atleast two of the three gold balls this spring. The statement that "East is least" is a little out of line. In my opinion West would be least, but they do have some good teams. The West may take home a championship before it's all said and done in Murfreesboro.
  2. Shelbyville and either White County or Cookeville.
  3. If a student transfers schools and does not change their home address they will be eligible for varsity sports one calender year from the date they participated in a varisty sport at their previous school. If they transfer and move, within or out of their school district, they are immediately eligible. Maybe someone can correct me on this, but that is my understanding of the tssaa rule.
  4. Hamilton lost in 2000 to Shelbyville 65-43 and in 1998 to Lawrence County 72-47 in the AAA championship games. The last West Tennessee team to win a AAA championship was Jackson Cetral Merry in '96. The last Memphis team to win one was Melrose in '85. People can argue all they want but the level of girls basketball played in East and Middle Tennessee is much better than West Tennessee.

  6. There are 5 classifications in football and only 3 in every other sport. I would say they are probably one of the smaller AA teams in football and fall into the "A" classification for other sports.
  7. Sevier County moves up in the rankings after some big tournament wins. Two East Tennessee teams in the region rankings: South 1. Duncanville, Texas (22-2) 2. Collins Hill, Suwanee, Ga. (14-0) 3. Sacred Heart Academy, Louisville (11-1) 4. Sevier County, Sevierville, Tenn. (15-0) 5. Callaway, Jackson, Miss. (14-2) 6. Lincoln, Dallas (15-1) 7. John Tyler, Tyler, Texas (21-0) 8. Scott County, Georgetown, Ky. (10-1) 9. Plainview, Texas (17-1) 10. Oak Ridge, Tenn. (14-3)
  8. I think you have to give 7-AAA the edge as being a better district because they have more "good" teams than 7-AA. However, I think the AA teams will win a couple close games again this Tuesday.
  9. 1. Sevier County 2. Mt. Juliet 3. Oak Ridge 4. Powell 5. Shelbyville 6. Wilson Central 7. Bradley Central 8. Kirby 9. Bartlett 10. Beech
  10. Mt. Juliet plays Sevier County this Saturday. Two of the top AAA teams in Tennessee in my opinion. Should be a great game!
  11. I think it would be tough to say that the hype wasn't just a bit of a distraction, but you have to give the teams they have lost to a lot of credit. They've been beaten by some really good teams and Shelbyville has also beaten several good teams, a couple of them very badly. You also have to take into consideration the knee injury that Fuller sustained. They're a different team with her on the floor. I don't think it's fair at all to say 8-AAA is a "weaker district." It's actually one of the most consistently tough girls districts in Tennessee. With all that being said, I think they're still the best team in Tennessee when everyone is healthy and I think they will have a shot at a championship again this spring.
  12. South 1. Callaway, Jackson, Miss. (10-0) 2. Duncanville, Texas (14-2) 3. Collins Hill, Suwanee, Ga. (10-0) 4. Sacred Heart, Louisville (2-1) 5. Oak Ridge, Tenn. (9-1) 6. Sevier County, Sevierville, Tenn. (7-0) 7. Lincoln, Dallas (7-1) 8. Christian County, Hopkinsville, Ky. (4-0) 9. Canyon, Texas (9-0) 10. Plainview, Texas (12-0) Congrats to these two East Tennessee powers for being recognized. Oak Ridge is also ranked #25 in the nation.
  13. Nice win for the OR girls on the road.
  14. They are definitely down this year but I think they'll be back in the near future and even pretty dangerous by district tournament time.
  15. flemtone, good job of standing up for yourself and for Shelbyville. I know it's not the cool thing to do on this board but it's the right thing to do if you believe in it. In my opinion the only program that can compete with Shelbyville in region 4-AAA is Lawrence County. I'm by no means a LCHS fan but they have a great program and I respect it. I don't see any reason to put any teams down on this board, let's just sit back and let everyone eat their words once they play the Golden Eaglettes. The first ones were the Coffee County fans that kind of disappeared after last game, lets see where the Lincoln County talkers are after tonight's "big surprise."
  16. Sleep23 is right, the bottom line is that Shelbyville has the best talent in the state. It remains to be seen whether or not they can put it together to make a sustained run at a title but if I had to put money on it I would say they will be in the mix when the dust clears.
  17. When will the fan poll be opened for basketball? those results are always interesting.
  18. At this point in the season: 1. Mt. Juliet 2. Jackson Northside 3. Shelbyville 4. Sevier County 5. Oak Ridge I think the state champion will ultimately come out of this group too.
  19. No I haven't seen Coffee County play this year but I do stand by my prediction of a 25 point spread by the time this game is over with.
  20. How are they looking this year? They're a fun team to watch and I look forward to seeing them in Murphy Center again this spring.
  21. If both teams play their best this shouldn't be a close game. Just a big difference in talent levels here, that's all.
