  1. Congrats to Melrose....Memphis is proud of you!!! Opperman....I must put my 2 cents in....There is much more to kicking field goals and PAT's than "getting a big kid out there and telling him to kick it through the pipes". The Ridgeway kicker is in 10 grade, lucky to weigh 145 pounds and is 8 field goals short of breaking the shelby county record for field goals! He played from the middle of September with a broken ankle (injured it in a soccer tournament) and took the cast off the week they won their first game against Craigmont and hopped out on the field and booted in several field goals and did the kick offs and hopped back to the sidelines hoping the special teams would stop the return so he could get off the field.....you must have some discipline, accuracy and a love for your coach to do that!!!! (By the way, the dr. relased him the week of the Melrose game...ironically he didn't even get a chance to kick a field goal in that game!)
  2. kwc...."THANK YOU" from all of us in West Tennessee....very well said!
  3. Tiger Man....are you serious?
  4. Opperman....lived in Memphis 47 years....so I am not an outsider when it comes to the "things" that go on in Memphis. The police WERE asked to come and try to control the crowd that continuously made crude, vulgar remarks and gestures to those trying to watch their team play football. Like I said...."they were not allowed to come into the stands unless there was a fight." There wasn't a fight because those being yelled at had the comman sense not to say anything back. The police made it perfectly clear they did not want to be disturbed because they were watching the game. You had to have been blind not to have seen the alcohol they were waving around. When those in authority, and I include in that the school administrators, "turn the other cheek" because they don't want to get involved, the message is being sent loud and clear!!! I must say that the post from the JCM fan was probably correct when he said that besides the alcohol there was not much trouble. I think that the rivalry between Ridgeway and Melrose contributed greatly to the problem. Hopefully, White House will have a great atmosphere while here.
  5. Ditto....Melrose DOES have a great football program, no one is taking away that....the point that 11 NFL Players have worn the maroon and gold have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the fact that it is not a good situation to be in where there are rude, drunk adults having inappropriate behavior at a high school football game and NOTHING is being done about it....I know that there are a lot of very nice people from Melrose and I hate that it is being tarnished by those who act and behave so unappropriately. The fact still remains the same....it is not a wonderful place to watch football.
  6. I agree with you but the fact is...IT IS HIGH SCHOOL...it is supposed to BE FOR THE CHILDREN...
  7. I agree that it will be a great opportunity to see some FABULOUS football players in action....HOWEVER....I have to disagree with the mention of obnoxious fans. Your idea of obnoxious and mine are certainly different. Smoking pot, drinking in public, making vulgar remarks and public drunkeness ARE BEYOND OBNOXIOUS!!!! IT IS AGAINST THE LAW and VERY VERY DANGEROUS!!! Painting your face with your school colors, taking your shirt off when it is 20 degrees below zero, running around the stadium carring your school flag is obnoxious! It is a shame for Melrose because they are a good team and their fans ruin it for them!
  8. They are SCARED of Melrose and I don't blame them. It is not so much the team....they are a very good team and seemed very respectful of their opponet....but they should be SCARED of the fans!!!!!! There are TWO sets of fans....the ones that sit on the Melrose side and cheer for their team and then there are the OTHER fans that sit on the visitor's side and are there to intimadate the visiting teams' fans and the visiting football team. The amount of POT smoked in the stands last night was enough to make anyone within a mile high!!!! Not only was there a lot of POT but the adult Melrose fans PUBLICALLY drank liquor right out of the bottle and made no effort to try to conceal it. They stood up shouting vulgar remarks and waving their liquor bottle for everyone to see....even the COPS! This was ALL on the visiting teams' side. When the police were asked to come to the stands and try to control the group, their response was "We can only go into the stands if there is a fight". Statistics show that 99% of fights result from use of drugs and/or alcohol. Obviously, the POLICE were scared to even approach the crowd. So, White House.....bring your own security guards.....the Mermphis Police are there getting paid overtime to watch their alma mater play and do not want to be disturbed! Better bring enough fans to fill the whole visitors side and get there early!!!!!

    White House wins

Good Luck to White House in the Mound.....it is not a good place to go...lots of obnoxious people in the crowd....I think the players are actually nice people but the crowd gets a whole group of people that needs some control....the police were of NO help.....
  10. Great game!!!! Ridgeway should be really proud.....they stayed in there and fought til the end. They really beat themselves in the first half....they made so many mistakes but they regrouped at halftime and played great!!!! They had it won, but fumbled at the 1 yard line....came back and did what it took to score AGAIN!!!! Payback IS wonderful!!!!
  11. one of white stations TD's was set up to a pass that actually HIT the ground first then bounced into the w.s. hands and the ref did not see because he was not at the right angle....it really should have been a 42-7 game and then the last 2 plays of the game the r'way player intercepted a pass and actually r/way could have run it into the end zone with :08 on the clock and they opted to take a knee so it could have been worse for white station ...... more like 7- 48!
  12. Ridgeway's freshman kicker last year was the leading kicker in Shelby County with PAT and Field Goals. He also went to the Auburn kicking camp this summer and won that competetion with a 47 field goal.
  13. what about the other divisions...any results to post?
  14. actually, collierville only had one goal....the other was an own goal....off a defender's foot....

correct me if i wong.....but if you do not score MORE you do NOT win? first you say he goal keeper was the problem ......now you say the mid field the poblem...what was the problem? if the ball was on your side most of the game, it could not be eihter of those prroblems.....problem is they cannot score
