  1. Fatal accident on I40 at Crossville. Safe journey to all teams, parents, and fans heading west.
  2. 6A Morristown East @ Dobyns-Bennett - DB wins 35-17 Walker Valley @ Maryville - Maryville wins 49-0 Bradley Central @ Science Hill - Sci Hill wins 49-14 Hardin Valley @ Sevier County - Sevier County wins 28-24 5A Tennessee High @ Anderson County - Anderson County wins 35-27 Morristown West @ Campbell County - Morristown West wins 24-21 Clinton @ Cleveland - Clinton wins 24-20 Soddy-Daisy @ Oak Ridge - Oak Ridge wins 45-14 Gibbs @ South-Doyle - South-Doyle wins 35-7 Knox Central @ West - West wins 48-14
  3. A new football classification plan that will be recommended at the TSSAA on Monday. The largest 32 schools in enrollment will be placed in Class 6A for football. As a result, all 32 teams will advance to the playoffs. The remaining schools will be placed in 8 regions in 5 classes and the top 4 teams from each region will advance. If approved, the plan will go into effect in 2015. Opinions? Thoughts?
  4. Since '03, the Canes have posted a regular season record of 52 wins vs 48 losses. Having said that, do not overlook this program. These young men are playing with pride this year compiling a 9-1 season; a complete turn-around from last year's 1-9 record. Their only loss came against Sevier County in 10-14 game here at Burke-Toney.
  5. South does, however, have the option to remain at the 5A level. If they choose to do so, I seriously doubt any change will occur in districts 1 and 2 (AAA) regardless of the fact that Morristown East will be 6A.
  6. Of all the teams in AAA Districts 1 and 2, S-D has the top ranked defense in terms of points allowed (28); although, it's worth noting that their three opponents have a combined record of 1 win and 12 losses. West will be their first true test on all levels. Regardless, I would like to see the Trojan D improve in time for the stretch run toward the playoffs. Allowing a minimum of 25 points a game does not bode well with the Patriots, Bears, and Eagles looming on the horizon. Hope the Cherokees and their fans have safe trips up and back tonight and an injury-free game for both teams. Go West Roll Tribe. Beat Boone.
  7. Cherokee at Hamblen West (by 13) ... Both West and Science Hill will be 3-0 next week Cocke County at Seymour (by 10) ... The Eagles continue their strong start Jefferson County at Sevier County (by 6) ... Bears win but in a close one Hamblen East at South-Doyle (by 7) ... East falls to 0-3
  8. Congratulations to West on a hard-fought win. Enjoy this one tonight then start preparations for K. West next week.
  9. Intermountain Athletic Conference (pka the Five Rivers Conference)
  10. This will be the Kickoff Classic for the 2011 playoffs. Good luck to both.
  11. This may be a moot point. East still must travel down to Sevierville on Friday to play the Smokey Bears and I just don't see the 'Canes coming away with a win down there. A loss would probably sink their right to a home game since they are already a 4th seed in Quad 1 this week. If both West and East are able to play their 1st round games at home, though, would the TSSAA allow one to play on Friday and the other play on Saturday? BTW, Quad 1 just got significantly tougher with the addition of Powell and Knox West.
  12. I don't know if you have these from Sullivan County; if so, sorry for the repeat... Sullivan High School Pirates (blue, gold) Ketron High School Wildcats (blue, white) Lynn View High School Lynxes (green, white)
  13. Rumors have it that Greeneville may be trying to persuade the TSSAA to be placed in the upper east TN district rather than join Grainger Co., Union Co., Pigeon Forge, et. al. Just a rumor, though.
