You are going to be really disappointed.  This is a he said he said thing.  There's no burger on the bun.

Read Jesse's updated story.  This is an attempt at distraction.

As I have said before, everybody in Knox County needs to be really careful.  Every one of the programs live in a glass house.

But there is always the first school to go down

Understand that point of view, and I agree with much of it.

By I can't get past the "public funds" thing, either.  Taxes aren't optional.  And if my kids (actually now my grandkids) aren't getting what they need educationally then I have no recourse.

I am for vouchers, but not necessarily a dollar for dollar vouchers.  I realize the public schools have to be funded.  But if my kids (grandkids) aren't in public schools then they aren't costing the city or county money.  I'd be fine with a partial voucher to help fund their private/parochial school bill.

It's certainly a complicated question and with the divide politically today that division on what public schools should or shouldn't be providing is going to get even wider.

And an edit:  Like I said earlier, most in public education are doing things the right way, and my issue certainly isn't with the teachers in the classrooms nor the in the school building administrators.

My issue is that there are way too many non-teaching type administrators in central offices that are draining way too much money from the classrooms.  Many of those positions are just not necessary and could be consolidated or completely eliminated.

There is a lot of wasted money in education, mostly in central offices. Also, I think the federal influence on educational practices has ruined a lot of schools. Thanks Jimmy Carter.

Some guy named Hodges is the OC (and from what I hear runs the program). Not impressed by the product. Had succes running the ball, but wanted to throw it a lot without much arm talent or WR talent. The center is huge and a good player, The left side of the OL was pretty good. The right, not so much.

I am not sure who the DC is (maybe Trevor Denton), but they got worse as the year went on. Mark Moore (a former player at JC and Appy St) coached the DBs who were constantly put in man coverage and struggled. Jonathan Brimer (former player and son of long time assistant) and Bill Delozier are also on staff in some capacity.

DBs struggling is putting it mildly. They couldn’t cover the opponents cheerleaders, much less their WR. Early on (against 3 really bad teams), I thought the defense was pretty good. But that turned out not to be true.

Whoever is in charge of Special Teams should be looking for a job. The kickoff coverage was abysmal all year. How many returns past the 50 do you have to give up before you quit kicking it deep? Apparently 3 a game isn’t enough. Don’t get me started on the BS punt team alignment. You get 3 punts blocked in the Beardan game and don’t change it? Get 2 more blocked and a few others affected.

Thought those places were a poor man's county, how those people going to be able to afford private schools.

There is a ton of money in Jefferson / Hamblen Co. A lot of lake property that isn’t cheap. Also, I think tuition for Lakeway is around $10,000. Not incredibly high

I agree WB is awful... just keep thinking that

Trust me ive seen some awful teams come through and this team isn't world beaters but they play with heart and have been in every game til the end except for MHS

10-10 in 1 quarter vs Alcoa starters

7-0 vs MHS at the end of 1 Q

7-17 driving against Ooltewah in the 4th and gave up 2 late defensive tds

against Sevier co  up 9 points late and then missed extra point that would have won the game

up  17-10 on Elizabethton with 9 mins left they were facing 3rd and 20 and end up giving up bomb plus 2 pick 6 to lose by 14

End result ... L’s to bad teams because you are a bad team. You may play hard,  but that only goes so far. I don’t think DB is that good, but they will win by 14+

I'm not questioning your past, it speaks for itself. But look at what has happened against like-sized schools since the turn of the century. You've beaten DB once (2015). You haven't beaten Bearden since 2004. You haven't beaten Farragut or HVA at all. You have beaten Sevier Co 8 times, Mo West 5 times, and Science Hill 4 times, so there's that. What I've witnessed over the past ~20 years is that the big Knox-area schools have gotten better (HVA is still a work in progress), and in your current region, that makes things challenging when you also have to deal with DB and SH year in and year out.

    Just one man's opinion.

No doubt Knoxville has gotten better. The game has changed to more spread passing game which exposes JC’s greatest weakness, speed. But I don’t understand how all the other schools have gotten better and JC hasn’t. A lot of factors, some seen and others not.  Just frustrating

A similar question could probably be asked about Morristown West. What is going on there??

Patriot, I think you guys are just in a tough situation, given your size. To get to the playoffs, you'll always have to deal with other large metro schools like DB, Science Hill, Farragut, Bearden, and HVA. I think that automatically puts you at a disadvantage. That being said, Science Hill, HVA, Bearden, and Farragut were all down this year (plus Sevier Co and Mo West have been terrible). There was definitely an opportunity to make some noise this season, which is part of the reason why DB is 8-2.

We never lost to a Big 9 school (upper East TN) in the playoffs until we were put in the same region with them. Bearden and Farragut were 1st and 2nd round victims. I have watched them for almost 35 years and have seen 2 big issues arise. First, discipline. I bet the teams the last few years have averaged 5+ post-whistle penalties and 5 pre-snap penalties. Second, toughness. Jeff use to line up and whip you. Now, it is not that.

Awful? We had a lead on Elizabethton, who beat Science Hill, until about 4 minutes into the 4th quarter and two late turnovers lost us the game. You can't just go by overall records. DB also thought it was a sure win when they were 10-0 and we were 6-4 in 2006.

WB won 4 games. They beat the worst Morristown West (1-9) team in the history of the school. They beat an 0-10 Heritage team, a 1-9 Lenoir City and a 4-6 Cleveland team. Add to that losses to 3-7 Sevier Co and 3-7 Ooltewah. Yes, WB is awful. Betsy no doubt overlooked WB.

I am Maryville Bozo , I just happen to like my DB fellers because my Coach , Ted Wilson , went on to be an Indian .... btw , congrats on not losing tonight ... I'm sure that Bye Week gave you all you could handle .

Check my post Bozo, I call it like it is. We suck balls and will for the foreseeable future. No talent + no coaching = no playoffs. DB, on the other hand, always has these lofty expectations
