  1. Regardless of the offensive changes or defensive formation, the same kids are playing in the JC uniforms. That is what matters. If the OLand DL are too small, maybe our strength program needs to be better. If they cannot execute, maybe they need to watch. All I know is that this team has been billed as the "best team in 20 years", but the way they have played has been a disappointment to the once proud Big Blue. I will be there every time they play because that is my school. I just want an effort, win or lose, that we can be proud of as fans. We all know theschedule gets easier after this week ( until West and East), so let's not get all excited over beating Cocke Co or Seymour or William Blount. Let's beat a good team
  2. I hope the changes being made help, although I question the timing of this decision. The week of the most crucial game of Coach Anderson's career, and he is changing playcallers and offenses? Could be viewed as a desperate move. If we get to 0-3, these seniors might as well take a seat and let's start working for the future. The play-offs will be referred to in a "Jim Mora" like tone. "Play-offs? Play-offs?"
  3. The first week of IMAC play could not have come too soon for several teams. With 5 of the 8 teams still looking for their first win of the season, this looks, at least early on, to be a down year in the IMAC. Let's hear some talk about week 2 match-ups. Sevier Co at Jeff. Co. - The nonregion schedule has been brutal and unkind to the Patriots. Sevier is the only undefeated team left already. I see, unfortunately for me and my Patriots, another SC win. I do look for Jeff to put up a little more fight. SC by 8 Morr. East at South-Doyle - SD has not won an IMAC game. East has been blown out twice this season. Look out for the Cherokees as they pull the upset and beat East. SD by 3 Cherokee at Morr. West - Both teams won their first game and lost the second. What little I saw of the Chiefs in the jamboree, I don't think they have enough for the Trojans. However, Sivert's bunch has been known to surprise folks. West by 6 Seymour at Cocke Co. - Cocke Co. playing at home will be tough on Seymour, who has lost to 2 really good teams in CAK and Boone. I think the Eagles prevail in a defensive struggle. Seymour by 7 These are my predictions sure to go wrong! As you can see from previous post, I have changed my mind on a few teams!
  4. To Barb and the rest of the Greeneville jackers, it is time for you to beat up on the rest of the cupcakes up there in the "super tough" BRAC. Your time on our boards is over. Move along, nothing left for you here. Good luck, hope you don't get any icing on your jerseys from the cupcakes
  5. I made this comment on the IMAC board, but I thought our team looked unprepared and uninterested in the game. I agree with you OHS that 54 plays hard, but the rest of his mates do not. I must say OHS, the cow bells are very annoying when we are getting thrashed, but I do admire your spirit.
  6. Not a good night for IMAC teams. Sevier Co. is the only team out of the 8 to win. Jeff. Co. played the best player I have ever seen in Devrin Young last night, but they looked like they did not want to be on the field last night. Very lackluster effort and looked unprepared. But with every other team losing, at least we did not lose any ground except to our next opponent. Get to work now! IMAC results from Friday: Sevier Co over Halls Jeff Co lost to Bearden Mo East lost to Anderson Co Mo West lost to Knox Central Cherokee lost to Dan Boone Cocke Co lost to South Greene South Doyle lost to Heritage Seymour lost to CAK Only shocker is Mo West losing to Central. What happened to the Trojans?
  7. I hate to hear about 44, he played really hard. I too will be anxious to see the changes made to replace him. I hope our pass protection has gotten better. Beat the Bulldogs!
  8. After week 0, I think a couple of teams made big statements. Sevier Co seems to have reloaded with talent. Mo West really shocked me by beating AE, and looking pretty good doing it. Jeff Co did not impress, but I think they had the toughest test. I haveready missed on my Cherokee prediction. You go Mobuck. East looked terrible against a great Fulton team. Apparently South Doyle still has a ways to go, as does Seymour.

  10. Here are my observations from last night's jamboree action. I was in Motown and had friends at Sevier and Knoxville. Here are my early predictions. Sevier Co. - will be tough again. Won their quarter vs Pigeon Firge playing mostly second teamers. They will be good on defense and explosive on offense. The QB is dynamic and receivers are good.. Record - 8-2 second place Jefferson Co. - though I have some doubts, these kids are super talented and are on a mission. Huge test in the opener and a tough early schedule. However, I think they will do well. Record - 9-1 First place in district Morristown West - looked big and physical against Jeff Co jv team last night. Could possibly rise up and challenge the 2 6A schools. They will at least be a wild card team for playoffs. Record - 7 - 3 third place Morristown East - did not impress last night against Cocke Co., and according to some of their fans have not looked good in the preseason. QB is good and they have some size, but it may be a long year Record 4-6 fourth place Seymour - from what I gather, the Eagles are very young with a good senior QB. It may be good that all three of the top teams have to go to Seymour this year. Record- 4 - 6 fifth place Cocke Co - much improved last night. The new coach has the Roosters playing hard and disciplined. QB and receivers looked to be on the same page. Good quarter versus East. Record - 4-6 Sixth place South - Doyle - improved and still young. They will be looking for their first IMAC win this year and I think they will get it. Record 2-8 Seventh place Cherokee - it is going to be a long year for Mobuck. Young and slow is not good combination. They may win against Volunteer, but that is all I see for the Chiefs Record 1 - 9 Just my thoughts on the year. Please feel free to argue or agree. And just remember, Dumplin Valley is really "Death Valley"
  11. I thought the Patriots looked sharp on both sides of the ball. Scoring 28 points in a quarter is great against anybody. I am surprised we chose to play our ones against the weaker opponent. Would have liked to see us prep for Gville with a quality look. Looking at the scores of the local jamborees, our two scrimmage opponents did not fair well. Central lost to Gibbs and Heritage good whacked by Alcoa 21-0. On a side note, Inwas shocked to see Goins not win the fastest back. After all the combine hype, I thought he would have represented better
  12. My mistake. I guess I was thinking of the "real" Greenville in SC. OHS you are correct it is Cherokee and not Cocke Co. As for the GreenEville Jackers, I am talking of the conference race, not nonconference games. You guys have your own thread about the JC game. If you want to be on our boards, you should not have cowardly left the conference!!
  13. All right! Its football time again. Most teams have at least a couple of scrimmages under their belts. so lets hear some predictions. Jefferson Co., after scrimmaging no one in the spring, seems to have had two good outings versus Knox Central and Heritage. Neither of those teams are world beaters, but it is good to hear some of the changes Coach Anderson has made are doing well. Jamboree schedule has been released. JC will play against Cocke Co. in the first two quarters, then face Mo West in the next two quarters. After half, Mo East and Cherokee go for two quarters (I think freshman play the odd quarters with varsity in the evens). Lets hear it IMAC fans (please no Greenville hijackers please !
  14. This is the dumbest rule the TSSAA has,and they have a bunch of dumb ones. I cannot believe it has lasted
  15. Will this scrimmage mark the end of spring practice for Sevier Co. or are they still going next week? How has spring gone for you guys? Are you missing a lot of players due to baseball and track?
  16. Hey Patriotgrad, don't stoop to their level. Show them what Jeff Co. is about. Kill them with CLASS man.
  17. First off Hulk, this is a Greenville and West board, so it is not appropriate for us Jeff folks to highjack it ! But since you ask, please do not compare Jeff to Maryville. It is apples to oranges. Maryville used to go out for spring in Jan. so scrimmages options are very limited. However, Maryville has changed their plans and are now practicing late to scrimmage. Before, Maryville could probably get a better match-up scrimmaging themselves rather than someone else. Surely you are not dillusional enough to think Jeff is in this position. Are you? It is my opinion (again not a coach but a former player) that scrimmaging someone else gives you a better read on weather or not you have the right players in the right positions for the coming year.
  18. No Patriot scrimmage?????and ya'll ain't fired your coach yet????My God man what has happened to the Patriot Nation??? Is everything coming apart in Dumplin Valley??? But we miss y'all too No, we have not fired the head coach yet, but he has now ran off every varsity assistant that was there with him except for one. I am not sure what is going on in our program!! As for this years team, they are loaded with talent in the Senior class. So, this must be our year. We shall see. The opener with you guys is just around the corner. I hope we will at least scrimmage someone in the fall !
  19. To all you combine junkies, read this: Unfortunately, while athleticism is no doubt a prerequisite for success in the N.F.L., a recent study confirms that it is largely worthless: “Combine measures examined in this study include 10-, 20-, and 40-yard dashes, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, 20- and 60-yard shuttles, three-cone drill, and the Wonderlic Personnel Test . . . . Using correlation analysis, we find no consistent statistical relationship between combine tests and professional football performance, with the notable exception of sprint tests for running backs.” The authors of this study, Frank Kuzmits and Arthur Adams, modestly conclude that, “from a practical standpoint, the results of the study should encourage NFL team personnel to reevaluate the usefulness of the combine’s physical tests and exercises as predictors of player performance.” In other words, the combine is, at best, a waste of time and, at worst, flatly misleading by putting the focus on measures not correlated with on-field performance. And this same analysis applies to the even more highly orchestrated “Pro Day” workouts held on college campuses. It’s not that athleticism is totally irrelevant, it’s that once a player has been invited to the combine he probably already meets the physical requirements, and the only question is if he has enough football skill to succeed in the pros. And the combine doesn’t help. This is from smartfootball.com
  20. Ahh, a match up of old IMAC rivals. I would love to be able to see it, but I will be at the Jeff Co. scrimmage ... oh wait, they are not scrimmaging anyone this spring. Maybe I will come. I miss the Devils
  21. It will be interesting.... he does get results, and will sure get offers to go elsewhere. Where is he originally from? What ties does he have to SC? Those are questions that may dictate how long he will be there. Not sure he reminds me of Kiffen .... more like a very young Saban. He rubbs a lot the wrong way, my wife cannot stand him, BUT I will ask you Red81KPsmash would you feel the same if he were your teams coach? If he wins (which he has done), I will take him. I think he probably treats his players with respect and the love his attitude. I think our job will be open.... but unless he pursues us, we will not get him. Our AD is too #### lazy to go out and get a quality coach. Just look at our football program!!
  22. Agree about the Jeff. players, good solid defensive players who have crushed the ball. I think the color purple is the most hidious color I have ever seen (hate SC and Furman both)! There coach does rub me the wrong way (kind of like Kiffen), but he gets results (not like Kiffen). It will be interesting to see how long he stays at SC
  23. Thanks for the update on the Trojans. I was afraid they would be tough again. According to the AA board, Loudon and Seymour were fairly even. Don't know much about Loudon so I cannot make a judgement there. Any other news? Heard yesterday from a friend in Morristown that East went out in Janurary for spring practice. With all the snow and cold weather, I bet that was a load of fun !
  24. Now that spring sports are winding down, let's talk a little spring football. I see on these boards that Sevier Co. will scrimmage Science Hill on Friday. Mo West scrimmages at Greenville on Friday as well. Is this their only scrimmages? I see that Seymour scrimmaged Loudon last week. How did the Eagles fare? Jeff. Co. is in the middle of practice but will not scrimmage anyone (?) this spring. I went by practice the other day and saw they had a bunch of kids out. How is Mo East practice going? When and who do you guys scrimmage? I think I read that South-Doyle went out early for spring, but not sure. How about Mobuck and the new regime at Cocke Co?
  25. So how did it go? How did Seymour do? Inquiry IMAC minds need to know.
