  1. Wow, what a couple of games. I did not plan on spending that long in Seymour. Both teams played extremely hard and for the most part well. Jeff seems to be knocking the cover off the ball. Keep it up boys
  2. This is just sad. It is a shame that our society has blown up college recruiting to such a level that kids feel the pressure to do this. It is ok to be a good high school player and not get a college scholarship. Too often, parents think little Johnny is the best on his high school team, therefore he must be worthy of a scholarship. It could be that no one on the team is college material. The colleges don't hand out schollys like candy!!
  3. I am eager to hear some news about the Pats. I hope to get by practice sometime in the next few days. With no scrimmages, I hope they can get a look against each other. I too have heard of coaches not coaching anymore. I heard that Coach Delozier was moved to freshman and that a couple others were let go. Any news on replacements?
  4. I agree with dvp4life about the negativity around the program. I believe that the current environment around the entire athletic program is not good, with the exception of basketball. I do not think the football program has performed as well as it should have the past three seasons, and no rational person would disagree with this statement. For whatever reasons, injuries or personnel decisions or lack of talent or being young. The responsibility falls to the coaching staff, and ultimately to Anderson himself. I am not a coach nor do I ever want to be a coach, so I will leave that up to the coaches, but the results to us fans have not been there. I love when people say "we are young". Maryville wins when they are young, Alcoa wins when they are young, Mo West has won in years they were young, even we won in the 80s when young. Basically, in high school, if you are good enough to win, your experience really does not matter (in my opinion). Anyone with teenage kids knows ever day is "grounghog" day . This years team is supposed to be loaded with experience and talent, so we fans of the school need to be patient to see what happens. As to how hard Anderson works, I have no idea. I do know that my wife and I go to the track a lot to walk, usualy around 6:30 or 7:00 pm(my wife is crazy so weather and darkness are not factors). There are rarely if ever cars parked at the fieldhouse. Just my observation. I also think, and this is solely my opinion, that Coach Anderson should try to take a bit more professional approach in his appearence. I am on the porky side myself, but he is the face (and body) that represents Jefferson Co. on a big stage.

  6. Lineman, you talk of attempts. I view it as production. I realize you must try to throw the ball to produce results, but you also must be successful when you throw. If you throw on 1st or 2nd down and it is incomplete, is that showing balance. In my opinion, no. You still have to run the ball to move it. What was the completion rate? Don't get me wrong, I am a Patriot fan. I just think that we will be far behind other teams by not scrimmaging when it is allowed!
  7. I was not trying to down anyone's intelligence, but the assertation that opposing coaches would somehow gain valuable information through a scrimmage 3 months away from opening day is laughable. As for Jeff being more balanced, I have heard this record before. I will believe it when I see it. I just want to see some football
  8. Okay, this really hurts to say from a long time Jefferson Co. Patriot. GO Lady Trojans and GO Lady Devils!! There, I said it. It did make me a little quesy though
  9. Looking forward to spring ball. Are there any players making great strides in the weightroom? Are there any new coaching changes? How many guys will not be in spring ball due to other sports? I believe it is a huge negative not to have a scrimmage. From a player stand point, not much to look forward to except hitting the same dude everyday. From a coaching stand point, I would think you would want to get a look at some players playing against somebody they do not know. To linemanpat, obviously you play with your hand on the ground. Other than your name, your take on others getting a schematical advantage from a spring scrimmage is very limited. The Patriots are going to run the veer, duh. No matter if from under the center or in the shotgun, the veer is the veer! Are you going to put in the entire offense in two weeks...NO! Are you going to get in all of your defensive calls and blitzes...NO! According to guys I know that coach in other states (GA, NC,SC) they envy TN because the teams get to scrimmage in the spring. We should be taking advantage of this!!
  10. I have heard that Morristown East is having "spring" practice right now (may have finished by now?). I am not sure how much football they could have been doing, but I bet they win the conference championship in "Snowball Fighting" . Seriously, have they finished and if so, how did they look? Please list the dates other IMAC teams will be "getting it on" and any scrimmage dates that have been set. Thanks
  11. Any idea on what the football team at Cocke Co. will look like under Coach Hacker? What is his philosophy on offense and defense? Inquiry minds want to know ? Welcome to the IMAC Coach Hacker. Wish you well except one week out of the season!!
  12. I have been out of town for a while. Any news from Cocke Co?
  13. Any news out of Cocke Co.?Leading canidates? Interviews started?
  14. Wow, what a surprise. Jefferson Co. beats Cherokee in a good game. I have been shocked at the performance of the JC team. Looks like the tourney run last year built confidence and carried over. Good job coaches and players, now go get Morristown schools!!
  15. Jeffeson Co. will definitely benefit from the realignment based on what I have seen. The team looks to be a little better, but the outcomes maybe a lot different. This team would have been really different with Kirkpatrick kid.
  16. As we look toward the season of 2010, will any schools other than Cocke Co. be under new direction? I have not heard of ant news lately, but the rumors abound. Sivert to retire at Cherokee? Hatcher from East back to GA? Will Duncan be back at SD? According to my sources, Anderson is safe at Jeff. Will any staff shake ups be in the works? New coordinators?
  17. Eastfan, Let me be the first to admit we have a lot of problems we need to address in our own program, but when we (JCHS) came up to play you guys, I kind of got the feeling that the "inmates were running the assyylum" so to speak. I thought you guys had more talent than any team we saw all year, just could not get it together. It happens even to great coaches sometimes. I have no doubt East will be a force in the IMAC for years to come. Best of luck to you guys
  18. I have been and will continue to be a huge supporter of JCHS athletics and football in general. However, I do feel that there are major issues holding the athletic department at JC back. I feel there is a need for change in the leadership of the programs in general. I am sure there are a multitude of reasons why Jeff. Co. is no longer considered a force in team sports, but since I am not in the school everyday, I do not know all of them. But here is my observations: Football - hiring Scott Meadows to replace Coach kisabeth was not a bad move (I know I am in the minority on this one). Scott was never going to stay long, so he did not have to try to be "the man to follow the MAN". The next hire was the one that turned the program downhill. Marty was a good coach with a great record, but he was not a good fit in Jeff. Co. He had no people skills or tact when dealing with parents and boosters. Then, they hire Coach Anderson after a "lengthy" coaching search. This hire, as we will see, follows afamiliar path. One in which not a lot of work is being done. I have no problem with Coach Anderson's decision to make some coaching changes on his staff, but I also do not see a steady dose of player improvement or development. Say what you will, but these kids get to lift weights during school as part of a class. That is a far cry better than working out AFTER school for two hours with Coach Watkins and Hutchins like my teams did. Basketball - Coach Sinard stayed way too long and then was replaced by, you guessed it, an assistant coach already on staff. He first had the "interim" title, then won like 6 games (2 in the conference tourney) and was named coach after the season. not a lot of grunt work done on this one either. Baseball - another situation where a coach stayed (or was allowed to stay)way, way too long. Holland was then replaced by, you are getting good, Coach Seals who was already on staff. Again, if the program has been very successful, I have no problem hiring from within. But baseball, just like basketball and some would argue now recently football, has grossly underachieved. So why would you hire from within...BECAUSE IT IS EASIER to do this than really conduct a thorough coaching search. Golf is now king at JCHS. These "individuals" have performed brilliantly and represented us well. I take nothing away from them, but I doubt they got much coaching from the school coach (most really good golfers have private swing coaches). We have had a few individual track kids make it to the state meet and win. I am sure there are others that have faired well that I have not mentioned, but the JCHS "teams" have not excelled lately. I am not blaming any coach or think that i can do a better job. I just simply see a pattern. PS - combined record of team the Patriots beat this year in football was 14-38. No victories over teams finishing with winning records. We were 0-4 against winning teams.
  19. GO EAGLES!! GO IMAC!! The "new" guys in the IMAC have a tall task ahead of them, but represent us well.
  20. GO CANES!! That hurt almost as bad as the go trojans, GO IMAC!!
  21. GO BEARS!! GO IMAC!! I watched both of these teams beat Jeff. Co. earlier in the season. A classic clash of styles: Bears throught the air, Bulldogs on the ground>
  22. Just shut up and play the game. Consider yourself lucky that you are in the playoffs at all. Dez Bryant got a year suspension for "lying" to the NCAA. You had to vacate a win and still got a high seed in the playoffs and you cheated and "lied" to the TSSAA. You should not even be in the playoffs!!!
  23. With the end of the regular season (as well as the season for 4 of the 8 teams), here is how the newly constructed IMAC finished up: Sevier Co. - (10-0, 7-0) Congrats to Coach Brewer and his team on an undefeated season and good luck in the 6A playoffs Morristown West - (8-2, 6-1) I guess us Jeff. Co. folks will be pulling for a JCHS alum in Coach Brown. I hate to say this and it pains me greatly, Good luck Trojans. Jefferson Co. - (5-5, 5-2) How do you finish third and not go, but 4 and 5 do? Great plan Ronnie Carter!! Morristown East - (5-5, 4-3) Probably the team that has the best chance of all playoff teams to make a run, as strange as that sounds Seymour - (4-6, 3-4) A great defense gives them a chance, but Tn High is on a roll Cherokee - (3-7, 2-5) A 60 point explosion to finish the season, as well as an undefeated Freshman team has things looking good for "Mobuck" Cocke Co. - (2-8, 1-6) A 200% improvement will be followed up with another coaching change in Newport South-Doyle - (0-10, 0-7) I saw some good young talent on the field at JCHS Friday. A good off - season is needed in South Knoxville As I stated before, best of luck to the 4 playoff teams. Go represent the IMAC well and carry the banner to Cookville!!
  24. A few points I took from the game on TV: 1. Clinton needs to get a groundskeeper or playturf like Morristown did 2. Packer is an IDIOT!! 3. Stone is the best QB i have ever seen in high school!!
