  1. It shouldn't be surprising that this was his very first post.
  2. Since so many in this thread are sticklers for accuracy, a defamatory post on this site would be libelous, not slanderous. A defamation spoken is slanderous. A defamation written is libelous.
  3. Whenever my team got beat badly, I always figured it was our defense that was suppose to hold down the opponent's score.....NOT their offense.
  4. I am certainly not an advocate of cheating, but a permanent ban is pretty severe. He cheated and should be punished. Many coaches (and people in general) cheat in some form or another. If all coaches who have ever cheated or tried to gain an unfair advantage were banned for life, a lot of coaches would be in other professions. If someone speeds in their car, should they be banned from driving for life? How bout DUI....banned for life? When folks get on a soap box like this and everyone starts piling on, it always strikes me how much greater everyone else's sins are than our own. As for what he's teaching his kids, no one is good for nothing. Anyone can serve as a bad example. There is a lesson to be learned there. My .02 worth.
  5. Spencer Gulmire AND Gaston Miller are outstanding high school football players. Miller is probably a little quicker. Gulmire is definitely stronger. If I were either one of these fellows, I'd probably want to go to a smaller school where I had a better chance of playing. It's obvious that they both love the game and both can play some ball at the next level, but I don't think either will be a big impact player at a D1 school. In boxing, they have weight classifications for a reason. When strength and speed are relatively close, a big man will beat a smaller man. That's not rocket science.
  6. A good coach creates a team that is better than the sum of its parts.
  7. I can't believe the ignorant rationalizations in the thread. The fact is it's wrong and it's harmful. All your rationalizations and attempts to be cute about it don't change that fact. Coaches are role models and many do have a disproportionate amount of influence on the young people under their guidance. Tobacco is illegal for minors for very good reasons. Use of tobacco is a nasty, harmful habit. Coaches should care more about their players than to play a significant part in a player's becoming addicted. Acting like this is no big deal speaks to the mentality of those making such posts. I guess this is the kind of thinking that originated the old saying, "Ignorance is bliss."
  8. Congrats to both teams. Sorry I couldn't be there. How bad was the traffic at the game?
  9. Don't be so quick to predict a blow out. I'll bet the farm that Riverdale doesn't score at all against Open....so, how you gonna beat 'em?
  10. Lincoln County is going to surprise a bunch of people on Friday night. You heard it here first....book it!!!
  11. Do the Riverdale fans really realize what a nightmare parking is going to be...not to mention the fact that Wilson Central's stadium will seat less than 2000 people. Conservative estimates have 6000+ fans showing up. How practical is it for 4000+ fans to stand around a field? How many of the seats that are available are reserved for Wilson Central's season ticket holders? Probably 300-500 are reserved. So, you'll have less than 1500 seats available to the general public. Do the bands get a seat? Don't guess anyone would consider moving this game to a neutral site, huh?
  12. Wilson Central is good, but they are in for a reality check. Riverdale will turn it up a few notches and take care of business. Even the home field advantage won't help WC this time. Stand by for the ram!!!
  13. Falcon fans are probably breathing a sigh of relief...and already dreading their trip to Cookeville this coming Friday night. They are very lucky to be 3-2. Were they plagued by fumbles last night? There is certainly no bragging coming out of Fayetteville this year. They've learned that crow is not very tasty.
