I give you two. Omar Wattad- johnson city Guard, 6'3", defense has improved over ther summer. He can shoot the lights out. Kurt Clark- White County, power forward, shoots the ball well.Has gotten tougher this summer. I would say Tony White who is young , but he is a soph.

I am glade that someone see Henry as I do. He is one of the best guards in the soutern area.He plays like Mingo Johnson and like Mingo he will get better in college. My pick in this game is George Pitts and BA. by four. When you look at a big game always pick the better coach. Both coaches are good and there are a lot of great players and future greats on both teams. I hope that Henry can take his team to the big dance.

Brentwood Academy has four freshmen dressing vasity and two of them are playing a lot.John Garrett, Billy Kottas, Chris Besch and Brain Wright.Garrett has been starting the last few games. BA vs Giles County will be great!!!!!!!

At the start of the summer basketball season there were players that everyone had an idea of how good they were. There were also players who were not that good then but have gotten better. These players have worked hard and in most cases have picked up thier skill level. List your most improved players for this year and why they have gotten better.Do not use this post to trash players or coaches. this is my sample: 13u Gary Pope unk at the begining of the year and untested. 11 year old playing up. Gary's skill level has really gotten better and he has become more physical.Shooting touch has improved along with jumping abilty.His understanding of the game has increased also.He had a great tournament in Memphis. 13u Josh Henley Plays more under control , shooting and types of shots have improved also. His handles are better now and his understanding of the game is a lot better.He has become a leader.

When I hear all the bad about AAU basketball it is good to know the Wright family. There is Brandon Wright who will be an McDonald All-american one day and his brother who is a good player also, but the great thing about those boys is not them. You must look at the way Tamika handles all the fame and all the coaches that want her kids.When you get that much attention and still have your feet on the ground its speaks well for your parents.Players come and go and so do coaches and its is a great honor to see the Wright family deal with all of this for so many years. Nashville has had a great AAU Boys Basketball year and the future looks better and parents like the Wrights are the reason . There are other out there with just as much class and I take my hat off to you all.

What age ? Who are the kids and what poistions do they play?

Good AAU coaches teach the game and make young players better and that what the AAU game is all about to me.There are a lot of parents that see this as a stepping stone to the NBA and college and this is far from the normal.The big problem is that there are coaches and parents that see this as a ego game and try to make themseleves more important than the kids.Kids should play all sports and a good coach will make time for all of these things doing the summer without causing problem for the high school football and basketball coach.This how it should be , however in most cases it is not done like this. The first part of AAU season in March is a good example of whats wrong in this game: Parents shopping kids and coaches trying to get kids at all cost.Most of the good kis will stay with one coach and the one's that will not make it anyway will change teams several times in an attempt to find the one coach that tell them what they want to hear.(how good thier son is or how great he will be). To misled someone at this piont in life is a crime in its self, but the victim has a fault that adds to the crime himself. Its gets worse when you have a kid who is 6'1" or shorter and his parents list him at 6'4" or taller or a 4.9 turns into a 4.3 sprinter.Some believe that bad pub. and good pub are all the same. They also think that if my son's name is out there everybody knows him and how good he is.The truth is that it comes down to stats and how good others see the player and not his coach or parents.Colleges sign kids for four years and want kids that will make it four years. A good AAU coach is trying to teach and not be seen as a high school equal. The sad part about this deal is that kids get hurt by parents and by coaches and the damage is not seen for years. To chase a dream and to live for something that you have been programed to chase and have the all that end one day must hurt and destroy a child. As a coach you have no control over a parent in this area because someone will alway tell that parent what he or she wants to hear and that is the problem in all sports.

The Memphis Majic and Elite played sunday in Gallatin tenn . The game went into 4 overtimes and the Majic won 91-87. This had to be the best game of the year in AAu basketball. Does anyone have a tape? The second best game would have to be : 14u state championship Nike vs Majic in Lynchburg.

I saw Auri play football and he was great. He could be playing on sunday one day if he goes back to football. He and John Henderson are just a like.His six year old team was the ABC sports Radio National Champion in 1996.He played right tackle on defense and nose .He also started on offense at right tackle..

Shunk I have seen Omar play both guard and post and I think that he is a guard. he maybe the best spot up shooter in the state. his defense has got a lot better over the years.He plays with three other good guards in Tony White, John Garret and Billy Kottas.They all play for Nike Select.
