  1. All of Darrells pitcher crow hop, it is just if the ump decides to call it or not. He might even teach it for all I know, cause every one I have seen does it. A crow hop is easy to see, but not many umps call it. If the foot leaves the plate and then replants at or before letting the ball go, that is a crow hop. Its a great advantage on a drop ball if you can get away with it. The pitcher usually ends up sideways facing third when she lets the ball go. Most good pitchers can usually fix it if the ump says anything. Watch the heel of the pitcher. The toe will be pointing at the ump to start, then at replant, be pointing at third. That is not dragging away, that is moving your foot off of the plate and replanting it. My catching instructor told me that you can't get away with that in college like you can in high school and travel ball, and that I should help any pitcher that pitches to me to fix it.
  2. Deadeye likes his catcher. I do too. She is great. Heck, she is going to college to play Div. 1 on a scholarship. Maybe if you would take your prozac, YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TO SHOUT!!! Maybe could spell better too. Did you play Div. 1 ball? Who for? When? By the way, I saw the first game you were SHOUTING about. Wild pitches don't count as stolen bases. Do you know about fastpitch? Cara was a great baserunner. As far as playng the best teams, Soddy lost to Goodpasture, Cumberland beat them. Soddy lost to Hendersonville. Cumberland split with them. Soddy beat Lipscomb in extra innings. Cumberland went 1-2 against them. Soddy is a great team. So is Cumberland. Soddy is guaranteed to play in the regions. So is Cumberland. Cheer for your team, and we will cheer for ours. Have a nice day. Have fun bashing me too. I know you'll enjoy it, but I won't get a chance to respond....got get ready to play. That is where I have fun, on the field. Where do you have fun? On this post board bashing people? How sad.....
  3. Gotta agree with mynameis and redbaron. Both are playing very good right now. Saw Soddy destroy the competition irecently in the Border Battle. Saw Cumberland throw a 2 hitter against David Lipscomb with one pitcher (beating Megan Rhodes), then a perfect game against Lincoln with another pitcher down in Waverly. Repeat of 2003 in Memphis. Soddy won't dominate the state like last year, but I think the hitting will be the key. Soddy #1 Cumberland Co. #2 Nobody else even close.
  4. I think you do a wonderful job, and appreciate every minute you have put into this site. Thanks CoachT!
  5. Frost Falcons 18U BK eliminated by the GA Vipers. Although coached by Clifford Kirk and pitched by Ashley Frizzell, they only won one game in pool, 1-3. Their first game was a state AAA rematch between Cumberland's Filley now playing for the White Lightning and Soddy's Frizzell playing for Frost Falcons. Frost lost 2-0. I've said it before, I'll say it again.......You gotta have more than pitching. Wild Things 18U eliminated by the Brentwood Blues. Ms. Rhodes had it going on, but it was the BLues hitting that won it for them. TN White Lightning 18U eliminated. Phoenix 18U elimnated. Knox Thunder 18U eliminated. Maryville Magic 18U eliminated. The GA teams are the ones to beat right now. They have been playing together for months, since their HS season doesn't start until the fall.
  6. Ezell: Make sure you respect the umps in Redbank this weekend. You never know which one might read coacht.com and also umpires 18U games
  7. Other good source of information is www.eteamz.com under their tournament links by state, or you can go to ASA, NSA, etc.. web sites to find the state director. They are usually more than glad to tell you about the tournaments going on in ther state that year.
  8. RB 515: What kind of surgery did he have? bypass? Wishing you and your family all the best!
  9. OK, just for fun, cause anything can happen between now and then. In order. AAA Cumberland County....they only lose a senior infielder and a senior outfielder. New kids on the block won't be starry-eyed next year. Soddy Daisy....lose many seniors including their pitching and the best hitter in the state, but heck, they reload, not rebuild. Hendersonville Coffee Co Rossview Hunter's Lane.... lose 5 key seniors, but their pitcher wasn't one of them. It is too hard to replace that many key players without a hick-up. AA David Lipscomb... they lose 2 seniors, no pitchers, and are rebuilt with youth already on the team. East Ridge.... They lose 2 seniors but retain their pitching will gain from their mistakes of 2003. Greenbriar... They lose 2 seniors including a pitcher, but seem to be well poised to return to Memphis. Lenior City.... Surprised everyone....no surprises in 2004. Gibbs.... Another powerhouse that knows no rebuilding. They lose their ace, but another waited her turn. A Goodpasture .... Like anyone has to doubt. They lose a senior at second and one in center field. Powerful hitting and pitching. Boyd Buchanan...Lose 4 seniors but retain their pitching. Any other year and they would be the hands-down favorite, but GP has a dynasty on their hands. These 2 teams are soo strong that I won't even bother with 3rd or below. Div II Baylor .... They lose a lot of girls...as in 1. nuff said. The rest won't come close, but..... St. Benedict....They had an angel in the outfield in 2003. 2004 could be less emotion and more talent. Brentwood Academy..... Lose 3, retain pitching, and teach the young'uns how to smack the ball.
  10. This belongs at the top.
  11. Logic says Soddy, Greenbriar, Goodpasture, and Baylor will win. I hope all 4 of them lose.........the first game. I would like to see all of them play every game possible, and make for the dramatic. These kids are going to remember this night for the rest of their lives. All 8 teams and players left in Memphis are extremely talented, exrtemely dedicated ball players. For many of them, this will be the first time the work they put into it will enable them to acheive glory. There are several college coaches in Memphis tonight. Some looking at their future players, like MTSU's Ashley Frizzell. Others getting seen for the first time. Still others who know that they won't be going to school on a scholarship, but are there for pride and glory. Some are missing graduation, one of the most important days of their lives, to chase down just a little peice of immortality. None of the teams that are playing tonight will lie down. None will lose. None will regret. None will forget. Now, go do what you do!
  12. Just to wrap it up..... Championship games, with undefeated listed first AAA Soddy Daisy versus Cumberland Co. at 6:30pm CDT. AA Greenbriar versus Gibbs at 6:00pm CDT A Goodpasture versus Boyd Buchanan at 5:00pm CDT Div II Baylor versus Father Ryan at 5:30pm CDT Great teams great teams great teams!!
  13. I agree 100% !! I saw a girl strikeout several boys at their high school, only to have that same girl land on her backside when the boy threw her a curve. Different game, both great.
