  1. I believe I read somewhere that Cookeville had three times as many football players as we did.
  2. Oh admit it, buddy. You got a little bit worried there in the first half I'm sure.
  3. Oh. Well I'm sorry for what I said about the trainer then. Hopefully they'll have their stuff together for next Friday night against THE WALKER VALLEY.
  4. Thanks, I think so too. *clears throat uncomfortably* I guess Cookeville will do all right too. Hennigan didn't look half bad. *looks down at shoes* Yeah.
  5. Everybody had cramps. Sheesh, what kind of conditioning program are these kids on. Maybe whoever the trainer is forgot that it gets muggy in August....
  6. We don't have the depth to afford that luxury.
  7. If WC can get their turnover addiction under control, I could see them making a splash this year. CHS isn't as good as in previous years, but I wouldn't judge their team by this one game. They underachieved in this one.
  8. Yes indeed, I am quite disappointed, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I shed a few tears as the clock expired while we stood around helpless. But correct me if I'm wrong, but Cookeville's turnovers didn't come at such critical times as ours did (two in the red zone, a muffed punt when we had the lead and stopped you guys cold late in the Fourth). The fact remains that the White County Warriors have only themselves to blame for losing the game. Cookeville played well enough to win, naturally, but they weren't spectacular and they clearly were having problems stopping us when we did decide to not make any mistakes.
  9. Go ahead and gloat now (if we had won I wouldn't shut up about this for the next decade, I assure you) and NEXT YEAR, boy, Sparta is going to go up to your house and really..... Nah, I'm not in the mood for it right now.
  10. Well, he could say (and he would probably have a legitimate point) that turnovers in the first half are what beat us, rather than Cookeville itself.
  11. Final score, from the Butterfingers Bowl: Evil Empire 30 Forces of Goodness, Freedom, and Justice 27
  12. Yeah, Red Bank is rightfully considered the favorite at this point. We shall see.
  13. Obviously these people are compensating for their doubt about our chances. We will always be at a disadvantage playing Cookeville, but that makes the struggle all the better. Like JFK said, we do it "not because it is easy, but because it is hard."
  14. The Law of Averages states that eventually we will be correct. And boy you won't ever hear the end of that one. And what do you want us to say, anyway? "Oh man, we stink so bad, there's no way we will beat the almighty Cookeville. We don't deserve to be on the field with them"? Sports fans who aren't optimistic about the upcoming season are bad fans. I don't believe that you would prefer us to just lay down and give up on the game before it is played. I think we've got a fair shot to beat Cookeville on Friday.
  15. Darn straight. When was the last time Vandy beat the Big Orange, eh?
  16. I think the more important point to make is: a team doesn't have to be "good" to have a post about them.
  17. Eh, don't blame him. Blame the White County school system.
  18. I didn't think Paz played that badly.
  19. Let's see. He took Bledsoe County to a state title (IIRC), he took us to the postseason twice. We went over .500 last year. We even (briefly) made the AP Top Ten for 4A. Compared to Coach Lamb, the guy is a veritable Bill Parcells. Well, in Coach Brown's first season here, there were only three seniors on the team. From what I could determine from hearing the ones who quit speak, it was because Brown was much less "chummy" and lackadaisical with them than Lamb was. So, that's a good thing. It took a while to weed out the deadwood, but it seems that he's been successful with it of late. Perhaps you should have tried to motivate yourself. As they say "the gods help those who help themselves". And maybe your "lack of motivation" is what caused you to remain on the bench all the time, leading to your blaming the coach. Just a thought. And anyway, it is disrespectful of you to be saying things like this about your coach, even if he is no longer your coach. I have no idea what happened to Coach Heady. I prefer not to speculate. I have no evidence that he is "not a great coach". From the perspective of a person who only wants to see White County succeed, and looking at what he has done, I will say that I do think he has done a great job so far. The primary job of a football coach is to win. We are winning. We are competing for regional titles. What more can you ask for?
