  1. The 45 against Milan was without a 3 pt shot made and the 40 against Trenton was with him sitting most of the 2nd quarter. Thomas is very impressive, does everything well and is very unselfish. His team probably lacks quality depth but the other starters are very capable. The 2 losses were close games where depth was a factor. Definitely worth the trip. Austin Peay stole a great one.

    1. Lake Co - too much talent, too many big kids 2/3. Humboldt - still a lot of talent 2/3. Union City - best coached team, very quick 4. Greenfield -well coached, lot of talented basketball players 5. South Fulton - Most everyone back and a good freshman class. 6. Halls - Most everyone back 7. Trenton - depends on how they shoot it, could be 5th 8. Bradford - very well coached but still probably a year or two away
  3. Congrats to Trenton picking up their first win in a close one, 16-6.
  4. Like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Doesn't make me right. This season is not over. This team will win 5 games I think, maybe 6. We will win this week. Milan is better. But then we get Halls, Lake County, South Fulton, Humboldt, Gibson County in some order. We could win all of those. Good luck to the football players and coaches.
  5. You are entitled to your opinions like everyone else but opinions are like elbows, everybody has one. Facts are a bit different. * Congrats on you and your family being Trenton graduates. I would imagine that at some point the same men you are being critical of helped you along the way at some point, either in athletics, academics, preparing you for real life, etc... There are many former players who think very highly of the current and former coaches. * Not the same qb as last year. You sure you follow this team? Last year's QB hasn't taken 1 snap this year as a qb. He is playing wr and db. * This year freshman class is a good one but it is the first in 4 years so there is not more talented players standing on the sideline. Making a statement like that is unfair to the players on the field. A true fan of Trenton would not do that. * 95%? Really? * These coaches are just like every other team. When they have better players, the team will win....when they don't, they probably won't win. This same coaching staff went to the semifinals 2 years ago. If you think they were better than that team they played, there is no sense arguing. * What makes you think another coach would want to go to Trenton to have to deal with fans like you who cut down the coaching staff on a message board?
  6. Believe it has been done and it is a familiar face to the tigers
  7. Not trying to muddy the waters but most of those girls were developed by Coach Hampton in middle school. Coach Pascall did a fine job and Eddings will too. He did a great job with the boys. Good luck to both of them.
  8. Fair enough and I am sure there are other or bigger issues. Let's debate those issues instead.
  9. Then my post was not directed to you. It was directed to those such as: The game has passed Coach Russell by. he is going to either change his approach to basketball or his address. (Elvis) USJ is no good bc 1. they have no talent. 2. no athletes 3. no coaching. simple as that. and whats up with this john ross glover someone said that "he had all the tools to be one of the best in the whole state".......yeah right. (Humboldt58) Well here I go again bringing up the problems. Hear the Glover kid has got into dunking. I will see him in Haywood and Covington hope to see him do that.... See USJ won a game against Carroll Academy. Well Well. Maybe the people at USJ will see that the game has changed and moved on. Since they are moving on to D2 might be a good time to do some moving of staff. Sounds like with some discipline coaching they might have a good team. other teams are hearing about the talent at USJ but they just not able to put is all together. Well maybe next year. - Elvis The people leading the school don't know what they're doing regarding athletics as a whole or anything else. - nob4upost It is directed at them. They are entitled to their opinion, as you are, and as I am. In my opinion, those are the type of posts that stir the pot and nothing positive comes out of it. With all of your degrees, congratulations by the way, did I refer to your posts? Don't think so.
  10. To those critical of USJ Boys Basketball: I don't know anything about the people who run USJ. I know very little about their team, except they are very young. What I do know is Tommy Russell is among the best, if not the best, basketball coaches in West Tennessee. Whether he runs the flex, motion, princeton, etc...doesn't matter. He has forgotten more basketball than most of us know. He is a fine man, husband, father, leader, educator that doesn't deserve being disrespectful to and questioned on a message board. His teams play hard, disciplined and are well coached. They are often out-talented in their current district - I would say in every district game - yet he still is very competitive. Remember just a few years ago, his team was in the state tournament in A. Do you really think he forgot how to coach? I saw his team once this year at Martin. They played hard and smart, lost by 1-4 points - don't remember - but it was to a team that was more athletic and shot it pretty well that day. It is not the coaching and when his team grows up and plays in a more competitive conference, will you then say he is a good coach again? Being critical of coaches and teams is easy. Have you tried coaching a high school basketball team before to compare your situation to his? Do you think you have the ability to take the players he has and beat the Fayett Wares, Haywood, North Sides of the world? If so, you need to get your degree, make some contacts and put your abilities to the test. His record speaks for itself.
  11. If you would go get your degree and teacher certification, then convince someone to hire you - with your experience as a message board analyst - then serve as an assistant coach for a number of years on your way to the top - your answer is to do what the kids want?
  12. Unbelievable comments. Topic has gone all over the place, including questioning the character and work ethic of one of the best coaches in West Tennessee. Look at his influences: Who is the coach at Martin Westview - Brian Haskins, former player for Coach Greer at Camden and JSCC (and All-American at Lambuth) Who is the coach at Camden - Shane Morris, former player for Coach Greer at Camden and JSCC Who is the coach at Perry County - David Lee, former player for Coach Greer at JSCC Who is the coach at Clifton - Eric Hampton, former player for Coach Greer at JSCC Who is the coach at Waverly Middle - Wes Malone, former assistant at JSCC Who is the coach at Trenton - Tim Allen, former long time assistant coach for Coach Greer Who is the coach in Dayton Ohio - Jackie Williams (Union City) and former player at JSCC for Coach Greer Who is an assistant coach in the Memphis School system - Malcolm McCreight, former player for Coach Greer at JSCC and later player at Lamar, which played Duke in the NCAA tourny. Who is the assistant coach at Crighton College - Ernie Ryans, former player for Coach Greer at JSCC and followed him to Mississippi Delta college when Coach Greer left JSCC, along with Monte Crutcher. Ask Brent Johnson from Huntingdon who played pro ball overseas how he feels about Coach Greer. Ask the players who stuck it out in Obion who played for Coach Greer how they feel Ask the players from Huntingdon, Camden, Milan, JSCC, Mississippi Delta, and West Carroll how they feel about Coach Greer. Ask Anthony Moore from Fayette County, or Tron Sain, or Shelico Franklin, or Derrick Rhodes from Bolivar how they feel about Coach Greer. Ask Monte Crutcher, Dennis Douglass (NCAA D2 All-American) Ernie Ryans, Malcolm McCreight - all from Memphis how they feel about Coach Greer Or how about the bankers, lawyers, doctors, business owners - including car dealerships, restaurant franchises, etc that he coached or taught over the years. And you get on here and say what some people in Obion had to say. Unbelievable. Society is always looking for someone to blame when they don't succeed. BTW - as I said early in this thread, Thomas may be the best of all the upcoming Juniors when it all is said and done.
  13. Thomas Greer may end up being the best one of all. He is still growing and adding to his game. He is already a very good player and will be a great one. A good student of the game and in the classroom - and a great kid.
  14. I don't know about Eddings, Hopkins or Whitby but NO WAY will it be Trenton's coach. He and GC would last about 2 days with each other and he likes Trenton. If he leaves there it will be Trenton's decision.
