I just found out yesterday, I can’t get a ticket because Oakland didn’t fairly divide them. I know parents who can’t get a ticket to watch their senior sons play. What happened there?? I hate to miss the game but if my son was gonna be on the field I be really mad if I had to miss the game.

Oak Ridge did what they had too and made sure they didn’t have to get past Maryville to win a championship. I can’t recall OR ever beating Maryville the past two decades.

Maryville had no trouble demonstrating they could pass and catch on Alcoa!. DB’s season will end when the clock runs out.

I feel real bad for the kids on these teams, especially the seniors where an admin decision based upon exposure to something we don’t really understand ends your HS career. It’s just sad.

The Wildkatz changed classes to avoid MARYVILLE after their fans on here kept saying “Wait until MHS steps up to play the big boys”. Same think Farragut & Bearden said. None of them has beaten MHS while in the same class. The Oakland game was enough for this fan, who needs an out of state game just to prove something.

well what about 2017? Have a senior QB that will be well versed in "The GQ System". wouldn't make sence for a new man to change much in his 1st season. Hunt or Ellis wouldn't change a thing me thinks.

First off, This fan is not even remotely intrested in Rankin. I hate it that the QG Era is over, but I understand life and everything comes to an end. I love what the guy did for the youth who filtered through the program under this fine man. My sons all played for GQ and are better men now because of it after football. I don't even have a guess who the next head coach is going to be but I don't it will be D Hunt. He's a bit young for a program of Maryville's stature but is a fine young man. I wouldn't be surprised if Coach Ellis retired. He could easly be the head guy but this might a good time for him to step away and I would hate that too. I wish Coach Quarles and his family the best at the next level. What has been accomplished here at Maryville has not been done anywhere and I doubt it will be done again anywhere. It's been a blessing to be apart of and a fan during GQ's era.

Glad I don't have to make the drive on this one. SH is not ready, even for this Rebel team. MHS will have the game in hand by the half, I just hope there are no injuries. As fare as classy fans go, Maryville fans are among the most gracious & humble.

Good game by both teams, but with MHS winning all is right in the universe! Agree with Pepvol, #11 the big WR could be D1, if he's not already. The current job I have makes it hard to keep up these days. If GQ had that one Alcoa player, the game would have not been as close. The big kid could really go get it. The officials I thought missed several calls and hurt both teams. Worst crew I've seen in awhile. Anyway it was a good night for football and Alcoa should win out. Despite the continued poor coaching by Rankin. The coach is way overrated IMHO.

Alcoa generally has good RBs due to a quality OL. Of course getting a transfer ring hunter stud never hurts. Congrats tore-Nadeos & govs this season.

Great game Rebels another lead pipe stone cold beat down to one of them "Big Boys". As someone said above I remember when many were disrespectful of the Rebs when they were in the second largest class 4A several years ago. Guess that's not happening now!!!

If your thinking any team GQ has coached since taking the helm would dodge or avoid any team Fulton has had you need to wake up and slap yourself. MHS has listened to this kind of bull for years and now all those so called "Big Boys" have found their way into a lower classifications. I would say teams are avoiding MHS perhaps? I wouldn't say MHS would win every game but they would be in every game. I'm looking forward to this years contest! Good luck to your Falcons.

Maryville should soundly beat Fulton. The MHS offense is really strong this year and the D will get better. The D needs to get better and depth needs to develop as well. MHS looks a bit thin up front IMO.

Agree, with Rebel Ron, to a man one would be hard pressed to find a finer coaching staff. There are also a few great ex coaches around that can no longer coach because of school/job conditions at MHS. I honestly want Heritage to do better and Coach Hammontree is a fine coach and will make the program competitive. But those kids have to believe they can compete with almost anyone. MHS is far too good again this year for HHS but not many teams can beat a good team giving up 9 points alone on long snaps! One might remember Brandon Waters was a great long snapper in his day!

Agree: Except for SH, they are along way off. DB just needs to change classes. Just ask Greenville and Knox West who no longer have to go through the Black Hole in Maryville to advance!

What a clown you must be "A WINK AND A NOD TO THE ZEBRAS". Yea that was it. People who try to diminish a great accomplishment by a group of hard working HS kids and coaches always amaze me. I don’t think Ravenwood laid down or played like the game was over in the first qtr. I have nothing be respect for Ravenwood, that was a great team that could beat anybody in the state tomorrow. I to question the RW coach on his OT call, but he’s also the same guy who hung 28 on Maryville in one qtr. Can’t recall that ever happening during the GQ era.

Heck No. The kids next year will want to earn it and we in Maryville want to watch it!
