  1. You never know. Just read Saturday's Commercial Appeal about the huge brawl at Trezevant this past week (16 arrested and up for expulsion.) Then check out the article on the cafeteria melee at Raleigh-Egypt Friday (5 arrested and up for expulsion.) And last , for your reading pleasure, note the article about 47 students having been arrested at Cordova this year. These are daily occurences in the Memphis City Schools. Don't be surprised if more parents genuinely consider moving their kids out of the Memphis schools. I think you're going to find a number of new faces at a lot of new places in the next several years.
  2. If I have a policy of not swapping tape, I can assure you I will not be ASKING for any. I don't swap tape...I don't ask!
  3. I hope you do get over it. I will tell you point blank, I have sent tapes to region 7 coaches over the past nine years. For a number of years I had no problems. Then the problems began. I received poor tape, old tapes, and found that many of my tapes had been forwarded to "buddies" that were coaching at schools we were to play at later dates. By receiving these tapes, suddenly I couldn't get people to return phone calls, much less swap tape. SO..I QUIT!! I'll drive, I'll send scouts, and do what I need to do to get tape or scouting reports that I need. I make my living coaching football. All I've ever asked for is a level playing field. When EVERYONE decides to cooperate, I'll have no problem falling in with the program. The simplest thing to do and I have lobbied the tssaa for this to happen is to make it mandatory for opposing teams to swap two of the last three game tapes. This makes it fair for everyone and cuts out all the wasted time and hard feelings.
  4. I have had the priviledge of knowing and coaching against James for the past number of years. I know him as a quality individual and an outstanding coach. I feel fortunate to be able to be considered one of his many friendsl. To James, his wife, and all family members let me say that my prayers and the prayers of the entire Munford football family are with you. Looking forward to seeing you up and around. May God bless you and care for you! Wayne L. Randall
  5. Let's get up to date. The player at Munford that came from Frayser is there because his two best friends had to go to Coach Randall to get in college. The East coach fixed highlight tapes for the two when the coach at Frayser made absolutely no effort to help these two kids get in school. Both players are presently on scholarship. Courtney Madison had originally planned to transfer to East High until Randall was fired. I remember several years ago when the newspaper ran the story about the Melrose player that went to Coach Randall for help getting in college when he and his coach had a falling out. Don't think that the Madison kid didn't hear about this! As far as comparisons, I read in the paper day before yesterday about the brawl in the cafeteria at Craigmont. 21 students and football players went to jail. Another day later the paper reported about the fights at Millington adn Trezevant. Think the two kids might get a better education at Munford. I don't think their school is on the state's targeted schools. Frayser and Melrose are! Maybe, just maybe these kids are interested in getting the best opportunity for both an education, a safe environment, and a chance to get into college by transferring. As a parent myself, if I could have my son receive scholarship money and not have to pay out of my pocket, I would have to seriously consider making the same type move these two young men have made.
  6. Okay...Let's put this to rest! Rumors ran rampant up and down Highway 51 (Millington to Brighton to Covington) that busloads of players were being brought in from Memphis to play football at Munford. Well... The truth of the matter is that when the "bus" stopped to unload, two students got off. One student has transferred from East High and the other came from Frayser. Before they could enroll, they were required to provide PROOF that they in fact lived in the Munford school district. Both students' parents now reside in Munford and these two young people have met all requirements with regard to athletic eligibility with the tssaa. Rumors of dozens of players transferring, monies being paid to parents, homes being provided, etc. again ran rampant. Munford has long been in the football duldrums, and guess what...the TEAMS IN REGION 7 AND ALONG HIGHWAY 51 WOULD LOVE TO KEEP IT THAT WAY! Any guess as to who or why these rumors were started? DUH!!!!!!!
  7. Can anyone tell me why the Cougars have been down so long? They seem to have the finances and the facilities. If they have all the tangibiles in place, what' s the problem?
