  1. If it had been a Kingston player and an OS coach you all would have had it in the Roane Co News by now. Don't act like this was some private incident. If you don't want things aired in public then don't try to hit an adult in a public palce in front of at least 20 people. As for the long history, the girls may have had one, but Coach Brackett is only in his second year there. I don't care if they are the hatfields and the mccoys- YOU DON'T SWING AT AN ADULT. I don't need to know anything about anyone's family to know that any father should not let their daughter yell profanities at an adult, much less swing at them. If she doesn't want to be bashed then she should act like she has some sense.
  2. No it was not the freshman pitcher. Yes I did witness it first hand. There was no apology. No further words other than during the altercation. She may have been saying something as she walked off , i couldn't hear. Coach Brackett was simply trying to stop the two girls from fighting, exchanging words, etc.., when the OS pitcher turned on him. It was all very strange. In all my years around sports I have never seen a player act that way toward another team's coach.
  3. Is this tourney still on for tonight?
  4. Uh yeah, you can stop the action of your child. If my child talked to an adult the way the OS pitcher talked to Kingston's coach last night I would have quickly grabbed her and taken her home before it even got to the part about taking a swing. But thats the problem today, alot of parents let their kids run the show. To make a long story short, the OS pitcher accussed the Kingston coach of telling the Kingston pitcher to hit her with a pitch. She used several words of profanity, pushed him, then took a swing. The whole time her dad is standing there watching. This all started because the two pitchers were having words and the kingston coach told his pitcher to walk away and go home. This occured long after most everyone had gone home. They were standing around waiting for trouble. Coach Brackett in no way told the pitcher to hit the girl, she hits at least one girl a game on accident. You can't just call outside pitches the entire game. Besides, the next time the Kingston pitcher came to the plate the OS pitcher hit her with a pitch. When I was a child I would have never talked to an adult the way this girl talked to the Kingston coach and my parents sure wouldn't have let act that way. In my opinion Coach Headden, who is aware of the incident but was not there, should discipline her in some way. It reflects poorly on the entire school.
  5. Kingston has played several jv games this year, even though most of their jv, with the exception of 3 players, play varsity. I think it is good for the girls who never play to get to be on the field plus we are able to work with our backup pictcher and catcher. I am not positive but we have only had about 1 jv game cancelled and that was because it was so cold. It helpls to give the other girls confidence and reward them for working hard in practice.
  6. I also saw Marion Co. play this weekend and I think they were well coached . Sometimes it is difficult for a coach with a limited number of players who is having to play kids out of position to be successful because of the fact that some players are not at their natural position. In a perfect world all players could play at their strongest postion, but most of the time that does not happen. Kingston also has several players that are better suited to other positons, but because of numbers that can't happen. Keep your heads up and keep playing hard. Thats all you can do.
  7. I thought Rockwood was better than that. Is their pitching that bad or was Kingston just hitting on all cylinders?
  8. There were a few bads calls, however your players were reaching every time on the press. Besides no team should win after having three technicals called in one game. That shows a total lack of discipline. One on a player or coach I could see, but three T's on three different players. I also think its ridiculous to blame the Kingston coaches like some of your parents did. What do you want them to do about the refs- its not like they hand picked them.
  9. What was the score of the Carpenters - Heritage girls game.
  10. This might should be another thread, but who has the worst? My vote goes to Kingston- popcorn and pizza, thats it.
  11. I'll have to agree with you this time. They needed to be shooting 3's, however had they made their free throws at the end it would have been closer. Gentry was being quite the ball hog. She got by with a couple of walks there at the end. She had no business yelling at Whitney to throw her the ball.
  12. I think the two main factors will be: Can the jackets beat the press, and can they stop Mardessa Hampton from scoring. She is faster and quicker than anyone on Kingston's team and likes to drive and push the ball. They are going to have to play their best game yet, but in the past Kingston has always played really well against Loudon for some reason.

  16. I don't think that was how Coach Plemons has taught them how to beat the press. Thats just a sign of a young team, not handling pressure. Smith did a great job hitting the free throws then blocking the shot- however the last second half court shot she took was pretty funny. I'm glad the girls are starting to hit their threes, but you are right, if they can't handle Harriman's press- they won't get to half court with Loudon's. Oh and yeah Oakdale is in a tough single A district, but Its still Oakdale and Rockwood didn't even score on them in the 1st and 4th quarters.
  17. Kingston should beat Harriman. After all they lost to Rockwood who hadn't even won a game. They even lost to Oakdale. Maybe tonight's game can give the girl's some much-needed confidence. They'll need it for the game against Loudon Fri. Loudon is tough. They have a freshman that is scoring about 20 a game. She's as good as any freshman out there.
  18. Thought you said to quit shooting 3's? Now all of sudden, it will help take the pressure off(which is exactly what I said earlier). I guess its ok to shoot them if they go in, right.
  19. I can do precentages and I understand them just fine- however look at how difficult it was for the posts to score at L.C. Any coach with any sense is going to pack it in on Smith and Gentry. If (and its a big IF) the girls can start hitting some outside shot- not necessarily threes- it will take some pressure off the posts. I am not saying they will magically start winning after Christmas, I just think they need a little more time to gel together. I thought they would do better than they have so far also. I never dreamed they would lose to CAK, however they are young and in my opinion they are about a year away from being really good. I just think its a bit early to start coach bashing- its only DEC. you know.
  20. You can ask anyone who has implemented this press and for it to be completely effective it takes a couple of years. I'm not saying it won't work this year, but the concepts are so much different from a regular press- its hard for the girls to do, especially since some are freshman. As for them being ok after Christmas- I think they will be. Camp does not give you the experience you get during the regular season. Its totally different. The inside players are also missing alot of shots as well as the threes that are being missed.
  21. What happened to "Kingston is Young"? Those girls are young and they will be good in time- lay off the coaches. The press they are running will take the rest of this year for them to learn. Ask any coach who has tried to implement it- it takes two years. You just have to decide if its worth struggling all year.
  22. Why was he running the chains anyway? Or was he actually on the chain gang?
  23. Elizabethton is good, but not as good as what I had heard. They missed a ton of easy shots, especially in the first half. Where they killed Kingston, other than their defense, was with all the put backs. They would get three or four offense rebounds- if you give someone that many shots they are bound to hit one. They may have just had an off night, but if they had hit those layup in the 1st half it would have never been close. Kingston girls need to find someone who can shoot the ball. Any coach with any sense will collapse their defense on Gentry, Smith, and Martin until someone steps up and knocks a few shots down.
  24. Who started for the lady jackets last night?
