  1. He is excellent all the way around. I am glad you are concerned about what type of role model he is. I have watched him over the past four years and have been amazed by his moral character. He has changed the entire team's (coaches included) attitude as far as how they act and conduct themselves. I did not get a chance to talk to him before he left, but I wish him the best of luck. SHS has produced some quality people over the past 8 years due in large part to the last two head coaches and the approach they have taken. I do not think Davey would have been named the head coach three years ago if he had not been person that he is, football aside. AC has got a good one.
  2. This was certainly one of the best match ups Oneida had this season. Two tough nosed, hard hitting, well coached, smash mouth type football teams, however I just cannot agree with this statement. What are we to look at when deciding how "close" the game was? If a 23-10 score means little to determine the closeness should we look to the rushing yardage? 270+ compared to 80+, does that make it close? Or does the total yardage make it close? OHS had more passing yards, but we know they were playing catchup at that point. I do not currently have these totals, but I am sure others do. I hear statements all the time like "playing at home is as good as a 7 point spot", Should we believe this statement? If so we can begin to deduct points. I just feel the entire body of a game will clearly show who is the best on that night. When we decide the winner by our subjective standards we detract from the measuring sticks that have been set in place. Just a thought. It was a great season, but a lose has few consolations.
  3. Just some late numbers to consider. Oneida Oneida opponent's winning percentage 51% Region opponent's winning percentage 50% Number of opponents with winning records 5 Number of region opponents with winning record 2 Trousdale Trousdale County opponent's winning percentage 44% Region opponent's winning percentage 41% Number of opponents with winning record 5 Number of region opponents with winning record 3 Common opponent: Watertown Trousdale won twice by scores of 45-7 & 52-14 respectively Oneida won 27-3 in their sole meeting Typical signal "A" football, most of the teams are non competitive. It usually takes until the third round to get a good game, we saw this in the South Pitt/ Trousdale match up. Tomorrow night's game should be a dandy, however still signal "A" ball. Both teams have had a great run and I hate to see either take at loss at this point. The biggest win for Trousdale is of course South Pitt which easily beat Marion earlier in the season by a score of 48-13. This score alone opens eyes, since Marion is also in the semis against Alcoa. Oneida's biggest win was against Greenback which had edged AA Loudon, 26-23. Loudon was dropped by Alcoa in the 3rd round last week. I expect Trousdale to handle the ball a bit better than Greenback, while keeping it on the ground. Bad things happen when Oneida's "D" is passed against. On paper Oneida should lose this one, but I doubt they will lay down and give up the ghost just because they may be outmatched. I pick Oneida in a very close one 24-21. Maybe even an overtime.
  4. I don't know if they are gonna carry it or not, but WECO has an internet broadcast that is crystal clear. Here is the link: http://wecoradio.com/wecogroup/index.php On the left side you will see text that says "Tune In FM 101.3", just below that you can choose a media player.
  5. kingston is all that you say they are, however the region has lost a lot of talent from 2-3 years ago. this time two years ago Rogan was setting at around 1200 rushing yards and Smith was looking at Notre Dame, while Anderson was heading to UT with Rogan, so the talent has dropped a bit. Kingston is a tough group and deserve recognition.
  6. Scott v Livingston 1993 Big Hits
  7. i agree with everything posted thus far. Like a lot of region 2 AAA teams Kingston would have easily been the top seed in region 1 or even 3. That said, it is really up to Vic himself. I played against him from 1991-1994 and he was always confident and at times cockey about what his teams were able to accomplish on the field. If Vic wants to go then he can bow out like a champ. If he gets run out that would be a major mistake by those involved. My gut feeling is we will see him for many years to come. How long has Vic coached there? 20+ years?
  8. ok i finally figured out where i was wrong. i thought AE would finish the season at 7-3 with a loss to Kingston this friday. If they lose to Kingston this Friday they will actually finish 6-4. With a 6-4 record they are out of the playoff unt. thanks for the info.
  9. Tad you should really think about quitting the crack for a few days man... 5-3 region records?????? there are only eight teams in region 2 AAA did each team beat themselves before week 0 LOL ??? I am totally confused by the 50% rule... all three teams play the same region schedule, so it really doesn't matter what the winning % of those teams are because all three teams have lost to or beaten those respective teams. Having said that we have to look to their 3 non region games. AC beat one team (Powell) that has won 50% of their games, while A-E and Kingston (As long as Harriman beats Oakdale this Friday) have beaten 2 teams each with 50% of their games won. How can TSSAA make a for sure playoff scenario when they have no idea what Harriman will do this Friday? As far as the different Class and Division games DII, 2A, 4A, etc... I can't find that in the 50% rule anywhere... I'll just keep paying the dues ad grin....
  10. How can AC finish ahead of A-E when having the same region records. AC lost the head to head (AUSTIN EAST BEAT ANDERSON CO. 36-2 on OCTOBER 12, 2007)
  11. A-E is currently 4-2 in region play the worst they can finish is 4-3 with a loss to Kingston this Friday. As I posted before all three teams will be 4-3 if Kingston upsets A-E. If all three teams finish with 4-3 region records then the tiebreakers will fall into effect. I believe AC will be out because of their three weak non region games. Clinton and Lenoir City are sub .500 so those wins don't even count in the tiebreaker and Powell is currently at .500 and may beat Clinton this Friday so this win does count for AC in the tiebreaker. they will finish with a 4-3 region record, a 7-3 overall record and 1 win over and above their region opponents. (their cooked if Kingston wins) Kingston will have 2 non region wins over .500 teams or better (Harriman, Rockwood) A-E will have 2 non region wins over .500 teams or better (Carter and Brainerd)
  12. A-E is in not matter what. Kingston on the other hand is fighting for their lives to capture a 4th seed. I guess ole' Vic could send some love up to the boys at A-E and say "hey just let us win and the 3rd spot is yours, well forfeit the other tiebreakers" lol lol Kingston will need the help from the tiebreaker rules but with a win they are essentially in. I assume Region 2 will play Region 1 in the first round so it really depends on who you want to play in the 2nd round, because Region 2 will most likely wipe the plate in the first round in two weeks. If the 3rd seed played say Catholic in the 2nd round then pray for the fourth spot, but if the 4th spot played Catholic in the second round then you would want the 3rd spot. The worst thing that would happen in the 1st round would be a long road trip. I'm pulling for Kingston in this one. It is nice to see a small AAA school advancing in the playoffs against teams that recruit and have school zones to help their student population. Catholic is amazing, but they should not be competing with public schools and Fulton could easily have 1050 students compared to Kingston's 750. gonna be another exiting week of football in Region 2 AAA
  13. I'll say Kingston in what might be the most exciting game of the regular season in this region. This is classic region 2 AAA football. 3 teams fighting for 1 playoff spot. AC will most likely finish 4-3 in region play with a cake walk against Stone this Friday. If Kingston loses to A-E then A-E is 3rd and AC is 4th and nothing written below matters. If Kingston defeats A-E then we've got a few different scenarios: - AC, AE, & Kingston are all knotted up for the third spot with regions records of 4-3 - AC defeated Kingston, AE defeated AC and Kingston defeated AE(Yet to be played) - Tiebreakers 1. The team with the greatest number of victories. (All knotted up at 7-3) 2. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams winning 50 percent or more of their games. (This would most likely give A-C the boot, Kingston and A-E would require a closer look at their opponents to determine the 3rd and 4th playoff spots.) *It should be noted that all three of these teams have the same region opponents and tiebreaker #2 really only involves 3 non region opponents for each team. other tiebreakers are noted below. 3. The team whose opponents have earned the most victories. (very similiar to #2) 4. The team whose opponents have received fewer defeats. (very similiar to #2 and #3) 5. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams in its own class. (i.e. Region 1,3-8 AAA) 6. Ten yardline overtime procedure at neutral site Monday night at 7:30 P.M. (Kingston v Austin East neutral location for the 3rd and 4th playoff spots) /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
