  1. Every year it is the same story on coacht. It is quite humorous. This is what you hear EVERY year: 1) "Maryville is the weaker team athletically." 2) "The opposing team is much better, and is loaded with a couple of stud football players." 3) "Maryville fans think they are unbeatable." 4) "Maryville gets lucky." 5) "Maryville lost to many people." NOW, this is the results year in, year out: 1) Maryville "out-mans" the superior athletes. 2) The opposing team was out-played, and those "stud" football players are shutdown. E.X.) Maryville shutdown: Cassen Jackson (Vanderbilt), Terrence Scott, David Gaston, Zac Helton, Cody Watts, Lee Smith (Tennessee), Dustin Lindsey (Tennessee), Brandon Warren (Florida State. Didn't play this year. (Uncontrollable attitude)). And I know I left plenty off. I am tired listing them. 3) It's kinda hard to think you are beatable when you have won 82 of your last 84 games, have won 4 of the last 5 state championships, have not lost in 3 years, and when you beat great teams such as Alcoa, Central, Powell, Hillsboro, Melrose, etc. nearly every time you play them. 4) Luck is a part of life and a part of any sport. But is it luck to win state almost every year? Maryville is lucky in one way. They are lucky to have the best high school coaching staff you could find. 5) This year we werent supposed to be any good because we lost our starting quarterback, entire offensive line, and entire secondary. Has it set us back? not at all. They find a way to get the job done. That just shows you the depth of last years team. *Just face it. People on here such as Gerry Bertier and some of the other people, whose lives seem to be based on starting stuff with other fans, are just hoping we get beat because their schools are not on the same level as ours or somewhere along this road we have showed them how football was meant to be played. * *Imagine what coach Quarles would do with the tallent of teams such as Melrose or Alcoa. I imagine it would equal what he would do with the team he has because what more can you than win state every year? We will see on saturday (again) what Coach Q will do with his boys*
  2. No i didnt mean to offend you and im sorry if I did. They are just not the AE roadrunners that I thought they were gonna be. The quarterbacks, I thought, didnt look too bad. # 12 looked the best. # 9 was still on at times. Like I said, that running back #2 looked strong. I believe that the AE secondary was impressive at times. All i was saying was that maryvilles defense looked unbelievable. "Thanks and GO AE and GO REBS, that'll be Knoxville WEST REBS " But it doesnt look like you have much to say about the real rebels!
  3. Taka Koyano of Maryville will be a solid D-1 prospect next year. He kicks almost everything into or out of the endzone. Also hit a 60 yard field goal in practice, however, he will not be the field goal kicker until next year.
  4. If this was a better team than last years AE team, then they must have been terrible last year. I seriously dont think they got past the line of scrimmage. The first 6 or 7 plays were all tackles for a loss. I didn't see any big hits except from the guys in black and red also. AE did manage, however, to score on the 2nd or 3rd string. Maryville put a sophmore in at saftey to get him some reps and he got burnt. Maryville moved the ball extremely well on offense. The running game looked unstopable with Tallent, Singleton, and Baker. Passing was a little shaky and it will be interesting to see what they do before the season. Gary Tucker was blowing past the line and I dont know how many times he hit that poor quarterback. The running back #2 from AE looked pretty good at times. Taylor Akins had a nice little scamper for about 40+ yards. Overall the defense was incredible.....even though the starting linebackers Matt Valentine and Jon Lawhon were out. Offensively they could improve and it is safe to say that our yardage might have to come all from the ground.
  5. Monday is the big day. What are your thoughts on Maryville? Monday- Seveir County Tuesday- Alcoa Wednesday- South Doyle Mondat 21st-Farragut
  6. Season does not start until March 14th and all of you are already talking about how good freshmen are. Let's wait until at least they have had a few at bats at varsity level and then bring this back up. Most of the time this discussion is usually a bunch of freshmen wanting everyone to tell everybody else how good they are before they have even taken a cut! Shut up until you PUT UP!
  7. Farragut,William Blount hands down!
  8. Pitcher gives up consecutive homeruns. Gather around kids the pitcher is serving up ice cream!
  9. Maryville was off this weekend. Will scrimmage William Blount on Monday weather permitting.
  10. King didn't have the highest batting average on j.v. last year. I did. I play for Maryville and I did see all the games. When King moved up....he pinch ran like twice. However, King will be much improved and prepared for the varsity level after this summer of baseball. King is a talented athlete with great range in the outfield, also one of my good friends. I do think pitching will be a downfall this year. King did pitch the best at the Maryville-Clinton scrimmage. Blair and Clement both only lasted an inning and both gave up a homerun.
  11. Maryville should be fine. There are no younger guys playing except for Ben Bryan and Louis Darras. Anyways, this was the lineup from the Clinton Scrimmage: 1. Tyler King CF 2. Ben Bryan SS 3. Andrew Clement P 2 innings/2ND for remainder of the game 4. Shawn Blair LF 5. Cade Thompson 3RD 6. Stephen Childs RF 7. Wes Fernandez C 8. Matt Valentine EH 9. Chad Berrong 2ND/ Bench *This will be the infield lineup more than likely. This is where Gaylor has played the players in practice as well* Struggling should be in the pitching area*
  12. Cory Is doing great! Leave it alone! Worry about something else, like how you will beat William Blount without him? Do not count out the Red Rebels! The Maryville Red Rebels!
  13. I think we can all conclude that Blount County is the strongest county for Football. With Alcoa and Marvyille fully representing. 2 teams from 1 county. I love it. Unless God decides he doesn't like Alcoa, then Alcoa will bring back the Gold next year. Congrats to my Maryville Red Rebels and the Alcoa Tornadoes! Hope West Tennessee Enjoys this: Football Tickets: 10$ Hotel Room: 85$ Gas/Food: 65$ Seeing the East totally dominate the West: P R I C E L E S S *West constantly talked trash about how West was SO much better than the East. So here is my trash talking. East- Boyd B., Alcoa, Fulton, and Maryville. West- Riverdale. So the score is 4-1. I am also fully confident that Alcoa and Fulton will win State next year as well.
  14. The reason they didn't let Albert kick the field goals instead of going for it was because Albert only made 1 field goal out of 13 in warm-ups. I believe this was the result of a sore muscle. Anyways.....WE ARE THE CHAMPS!!!! **Melrose has got the best high school defense I have ever seen. They could flat out hit*
  15. *Haven't been on in a while due to basketball practice. Speaking of basketball, has this comedian said the same joke in the past 5 posts of his?? Ok enough with telling us to enjoy basketball. Nobody is blind; they can see that you want us to enjoy bball. God Central people crack me up. He was talking trash before last game and then we beat em' 56-10. He did get on here and say oh we got some work. But here this fool is again saying that they are gonna lay out the rebels again. Also, he is whining about the refs. The refs killed us against Powell. They called like 4 holding penalties in a row. I do hope that Helton realizes that Clement is on our team so that he doesnt give him the ball 20 times and this game isn't just a practice. *Also the stuff with Powell will help Maryville in a way. We are gonna struggle with injuries, but I doubt we will make any mistakes. The 1st string team only had to stay and watch game film with all the coaches and I talked to a 2nd teamer and he said that the 1st team was getting chewed out. Coach Quarles will have Maryville mistake free by the time game rolls around. I will let injuries have an affect on my prediction. Instead of 56 to 10 (lol) I say: MARYVILLE-52, central-14. I think Central might score twice this game instead of once and a field goal.
