Coach, I don't think you are being singled out. At least not in my posts. My question on the thread regarding Region V was because you stated something to the effect of; why bother discussing, it is never going to change. I was interested in why you gave that opinion. The only other time I recall was when you said something in regards to who votes for the rankings, something to the effect of; "don't ask because I was berated for asking before". I was interested in who was doing that, but you would never come forward with who "they" were. Not exact quotes, but in the ballpark (or at least on the in bounds part of the wrestling mat).
  2. I think best otw and 171 are missing the point, but are still correct. It does not effect the state tourny. It could (will in my opinion) effect which wrestlers would qualify from each team. Like which team moved to a different region. That was really the premise of the discussion.

I am calling Jim Rome's radio station and putting you guys in for the SMACKDOWN CONTEST. Your as good as any of those guys. LOL
  4. delaWarr, Good post and great comments. However, my post was meant to say that a strong team from that region would NOT have a greater chance of advancing more wrestlers, but less. I believe if you re-read it you may come to that meaning. If not, I apoligize for doing a poor job of constructing a sentence that relected my thoughts. Also, I advocate that you have patience and leave things as they currently are, it is better for all those teams in Region V in my view. By better, I meant the chance to advance those wrestlers today. Now, I have a opinion on what Coach G says regarding being in the same region with Cleveland and Bradley. You may be correct on fighting for the 3 and 4 places, but what happens to the 3 and 4 places you had in region V.? They may not place at all. So, you may take less to state. Then you seeding will be less favorable than you were use to from region V. Just a view.
  5. Your right, that is a lot of wrestling to qualify for the state tourny. If the TSSAA were to re-align how would you suggest to pick which schools go to other regions? If it is the teams that have had the better results in the past, say 5 years, then those teams most likely do not want to move to say a Region in the near east of them. Their chances of qualifying more wrestlers may be lower (debatable, but it could easily be assumed). Now, if you choose the teams with the poorer results (newer teams) and make the same move as above. These teams are even more likely to not have the same chance of advancing some wrestlers to the state tourny (again, debatable, but it could be easily assumed). I would see in the short to longer term that this may have a negative effect on the current teams in that region. The resume's of those teams being able to claim district championships and region championships is going to effected. I believe that you should hold the cards you are delt now and be patience on the re-alignment. It is going to be painful for someone out there.
  6. delaWarr, Well thought out post. I have seen you use math on here before to support your view, and quantitatively it is sound. However, in "real life" the numbers will not fall so evenly or nicely. A very strong team in either a large (23 team) or smaller (10 team) region could still dominate. Let's say a Soddy team traded places with what ever team is strongest in Region V (I don't name the team because I don't want to hear all the who is strongest stuff, it is not important to the point). Anyway, I think that the Soddy team may take more state births in Region V than it may take in the Region it now resides in. I like what PapaRaptor posted, why can't the TSSAA just form the regions on a yearly basis and try to make them as equal as possible in numbers and power, along with geographically considerations? New schools don't pop up with out some advance notice, they take time to build, so no surprises there. The first time would be the most difficult, but after that the task would seem to be a little shorter and easier to complete. I know this is a simple answer and does not and will not fit every teams need, as you pointed out in you post. Just a little more chum for the fish to feed on. Again, great post delaWarr.
  7. Thanks Bobvark, I appreciate the come back response. I do believe that based on what you posted, that Region V, as now set up, has much better opportunity to get wrestlers into the state tourny. There are four or five teams that can really take big squads, even in a 23 team enviroment. Just because of the level of competition. I think that is fair as of toady. On the other hand, I am interested in hearing what coach G has to say, from his point of view. His team lives it, along with the other 22 teams.
  8. Bobvark, First of all, I said as it is today. Not before the split. Second, I don't have a region, I took 3 and 4 as a for instance. Also, that "someone on here" can be you since you used it in YOUR argument. I said is was ugly facts, and that is what I meant. Do not be offended, it is not my intention. That is why I said it would not be popular, to take out the sting so that you could just respond with thoughts and not all emotion. Coach G is right, something needs to change. I threw out a couple of issues that may prevent the change and may seem unfair. So, re-group, re-think , do a few push ups and then re-post with some good stuff.
  9. Coach, why the sad face? The regions have been re-aligned in the past. They will most likely be re-aligned in the future as well. Re the Bobvark post, he says he heard it would be in 2005. Not really that far off. I read on here that most folks want the sport to grow. It is growing in regions that your school happens to be in right now. One thing has to happen before the next. New schools, new wrestling teams bigger regions to compete for the places. I think that the teams in that heavy region,(23 teams, dang that is a lot) have got a better chance there today to qualify their guys for the state, rather than re-alignment into, let's say region 3 or 4 where there are numerically only 10 or 11 teams. The ugly facts today are that teams in 3 and 4 will mostly likely dominate any of the newcomers. Is that fair to a new team? Or even a good team as yours? It is a question I am not going to answer now, but I throw it out there for opinions. Combine regions 3 and 4? If that were to happen today we would have to name it the state tournament. (I know, an unpopular statement for anyone outside of that area, sorry). I think re-alignment will occur, just not on the time frame that would seem to make everyone happy. How would you suggest that the re-alignment be made? I know you said it is no use to talk about it, but actually, that is what the board is for. (I know, your frustrated with previous efforts to resolve this, right?)
  10. papa, Great point on Nick choosing to move up or down to get the best match, when it does not put the team in a bad situation. Great of you to make that happen for him as well. Also, I believe that Gibson had to go thru a defending state champ from Cleveland two years ago (N. Jones). Yeah, I know, Jones was an injury default in the final, but Gibson wrestled him many times that year and won each on them. Both Nick and Quinn are two fine wreslers.
  11. delaWarr, great response, I knew that was a funny bone in the great Jedi. Not kidding now.
  12. soms, ya gotta quite asking who people are on here. you have to figure that out away from the board, unless someone uses a name that makes it clear. Like Coach so and so. just a friendly bit of protocol. Keep up the good posts, I like to read them.
  13. no problem....cool. Just a guy here with too much time....lol.
  14. Well since Soms is one of your guys, I will assume the advice comment is based on my "fun" post for delaWarr. I stated very clearly that I was just kidding with delaWarr. I assume he can tell by the way I wrote, "just kidding". I am sure he (could be she, I don't know) gives good advice. Seems to have a good sense of humor and displays it on the board in my view. So don't feel the need to be so quick to come to his defense. No offense intended or written in that post. This board is for clean, fun and interesting entertainment. In fact, I bought the package to support it. Relax and have some good fun with it.
  15. delaWarr, I pictured you in my mind more like obie won konobi teaching young Luke Skywalker........"Luke, use the power of wrestling for good, not evil. The force is strong with this one", stuff like that. Just kidding....
  16. The coach from Smyrna usually updates his site pretty quickly and then tells everyone it is done. Although based on last nights results it may be a little slower than usual. just kidding.
  17. Terrible news. Very sorry to hear this tragedy has happened. You just feel helpless when you hear of such things.
  18. walkenvol, thanks, I did not know that about the Ivy league schools. Even more impressive of Leen.
  19. Congrats to Mr. Leen. Is that an academic scholarship as well as an atheletic one?
  20. In a very sarcastic voice, "since you have vouched for him as your good friend, we should just lock down this thread now."
  21. Matman, Very good job with the information that has been provided to you from various sources. Remember, some of those challenging your rankings may have a hidden agenda, like why did'nt my little johnny get ranked higher or ranked at all. And their are some that may want to take your place and bring down your rankings by tearing them apart. Good job on your part. Keep it up.
  22. 911, just so were clear, I do not wrestle anymore. And "my team" was not there.
  23. I agree,,,I just think it is funny for people who love this sport (like me), that complain about the coverage so friggin' much. Stop complaining and do something. Shoot, write the article yourself and submit it to the sport editor. Tell them you will provide it for your favorite team all year long. But to come on here and cry about it is funny at best. Gosh, take control of what you wish for and do something to make it happen. Okay, I am done now.
  24. "where there is smoke, there is fire".
  25. someone in Nashville should e-mail the linkto these posts to the sports editor at that paper. Just a suggestion.
