  1. There's more to it than average, HR's, and RBI's. Edmonds is a Gold Glove centerfielder, while Floyd and Burrell are below-average DH's trying to play the field. Edmonds' offensive skills are underrated when you only look at avg/hr/rbi. Cliff Floyd's and Pat Burrell's are overrated a bit.
  2. To be fair, the Olympics aren't about the USA. And baseball is really only played in North America, Central America, and small parts of Asia. Besides, the upcoming World Cup of Baseball or whatever the heck they call it will be five times as good as Olympic baseball ever could be.
  3. Fielding percentage means very, very little. Rolen has committed errors on balls Ensberg can't get to.
  4. But most of those 14 have come in smaller divisions, while the Cardinals won most of their 9 with just two divisions.
  5. No, I think you're underestimating it. It wasn't a mistake, it was assault and battery. He went after two different cameramen. What were they doing wrong? Randy Johnson's was different, they were blocking his way as he was trying to walk down the sidewalk. Rogers went out of his way to go after these two guys. Also, Johnson didn't twist a 20-pound camera around, causing arm and back injuries. I think 20 games is about right, IF it's without pay. Selig is the second-worst commissioner in all of sports. Gary Bettman is, without doubt, the worst. That never worked for me when I did something wrong, why should it get him off the hook?
  6. But not over the last 25. Isn't it fun playing with moving endpoints?
  7. I'd rather have Andy Marte than somebody with experience. Easily. Experience is highly overrated. It's all about skill.
  8. And the Cardinals have been playing a bunch of bench players too due to injuries to Walker, Edmonds, Molina, and especially Rolen. So don't give me injuries as an excuse.
  9. And Atlanta was doing what during the World Series? And the NLCS?
  10. Title IX. It doesn't account for the fact that it's the men's sports that pay for the women's sports...it just requires equal scholarships.
  11. Two problems. 1) To get a younger everyday-caliber OF, you're gonna have to pay a lot. Do you want to give up Wainwright and Reyes? It might take both to get the type of player you're talking about. 2) What do you do with this player when Sanders, Edmonds, and Walker are in the lineup? As for the Sosa suggestion from Fuggly...bleh, I don't want that idiot associated with the Cardinals organization.
  12. No moreso than timbdp did by C&P-ing all 50 rounds in here.
  13. Um, no, he wouldn't probably be in Durham a few weeks into the season. Unless you're talking about the 2007 season.
  14. About a mile across the state line. Big deal, it's still closer to Memphis than Lee University is to Chattanooga.
  15. He may still get picked before next year's draft...teams can still negotiate with JUCO players until a week before the draft.
  16. Not ALL reply, but most of the college coaches I know (and that's quite a few) will evaluate pretty much anybody they find out about.
  17. Ask any coach you know what they think of a player who blows off practice but gives it his all every game. And they'll all tell you the exact same thing.
  18. Nobody made a movie out of the teams I'm talking about. The line between 3A and 5A in football is a lot bigger than it is between AA and AAA in basketball. Um, we were driving 5 hours and spending the gas and hotel money when it was in Chattanooga.
  19. Not in travel time. And that's your gripe, isn't it?
  20. They lost money, yes, but they aren't in business to make money directly. Don't expect us to not put in another strong bid.
  21. I'm curious how exactly you're planning to drive across Lake Erie.
  22. A blind draw in that situation meaning that, say, Dobyns-Bennett would have to go play at Germantown in a sectional? Pass. And a blind draw doesn't do anything to ensure the best 8 teams making it. If you drew region 2-AAA against region 8-AAA, I guarantee you would have been sending two of the best 8 home the last two years.
